I know everyone is saying to watch the anime, but I really enjoyed your blind reactions to the live action and think it would be real cool if you experienced the One Piece story though it. I wouldn’t be upset either if y’all do start it, I’m sure those videos would be great but I love these videos of people who love the show and don’t constantly compare it all the time to the anime/manga and just let themselves enjoy it. Zeff taught Sanji how to fight. Remember? He was a notorious pirate. Also, Sanji's fighting style only uses kicks, because that's how Zeff trained him as a cook should avoid hurting his hands during fighting.

@@robertwallen1582 *Spoilers* Franky has a great backstory and even better emotional depth. He messed up as a boy/young man getting his adoptive father killed. He then became an adoptive father with the Franky family and provided a safe home for many young people. Franky's backstory does get overshadowed by the other events of the Arc that he is introduced in. That isn't because it is a bad, it is just because the other major story Arc is so compelling.

Sanji’s attacks are actually pretty clever wordplay. They’re names for different cuts of meat. He’s also calling out which parts of the body he’s kicking (or rather, tenderizing). Also, I can’t remember if this was addressed, but he learned how to fight from Zeff. The reason he kicks exclusively is because a chef can’t risk damaging his hands.

@dontreadmyprofilepicture8817 took me years and several tries to get into one piece. Started over maybe 5 times until I started to feel the story. I say water 7 because it's like oda became a better writer around that time. I started getting hooked towards the end of alabasta and when they were investigating ways into sky island. But like you said, water 7 is peak, if someone doesn't like it by then, most likely they're not going to. It'll at least save them the next 700+episodes to find out

@@AnimeIntrospectiveif someone doesn't like the series by like episode 10 I usually just tell them to drop it. There's some false belief that one piece doesn't get good till along park or alabaster or enemies lobby etc etc. When in actuality it's the same series from the first few episodes. It's silly, goofy, action packed, heartfelt, has interesting characters, a crazy world, strong story telling etc etc and that doesn't suddenly start dozens or 100s of episodes in, that's there from jump. Yeah there's always that odd person that's like "I needed to watch 600 episodes before I got into one piece" but honestly if people don't like it at the start, theres no point forcing them till Stockholm syndrome takes hold. There's plenty of other things they could be watching that doesn't require them to force themselves to get into. The "it doesn't get good till" statement is so lame.

@cresentj nah.. it's not really the case for me, ppl need more than 10 episodes to get into such a unique world, they need longer to get to know the characters, and tbh most ppl now who love the show were haters at first, me included. Oda wrote it when he was 17 so obviously his writing will change over time. And approaching water 7 I sensed that change. It's like he went to take a few writing classes then came back to work on his world. I'd still prefer to watch something from episode 1. But you can get away with starting at a later arc, sacrificing the first few seasons, and the show will still hold people's attention.. that should show you how his writing changed for the better over time. Bit hey to each their own I guess

Throughout the series, Zoro and Sanji often get into each other's faces and bicker, but when time comes, when Luffy needs the road cleared for him, those two are often the Sword and Shield that pave the way so their Captain can do what he has to do. It's epic every time. Both of them have a way of saying "Our Captain doesn't need to bother with extras". I'd love to see that in the live action.

I always assumed (and it blew my mind that others didn't) that he was in the area to pick up Luffy. Like, there's a reason Luffy left as soon as his birthday and part of it was the promise, but the other was Gramps is coming. Boy was getting the hell out of dodge before he was forcefully enlisted - and Garp was heading towards Goa in order to pick him up (I'm putting money on it). So this adaptation of having Garp chasing Luffy down didn't feel out of place to me - seemed exactly like what Garp would do if he arrived at Fusha village and found Luffy wasn't there to be enlisted. That guy (at the end credits) is gonna replace Garp's role for next season which is probably gonna cover Alabasta arc and Crocodile of Baroque works (teased in EP1) is going to be the main villain and actually strings better in the original manga rather than Arlong sniffing around the whole East Blue Saga.

Honestly, even if they want to go on for season 2, considering now how popular it is, there are still tons of technical challenges to tackle in order for the adaptation to be good, not to mention how long it takes. I would love to because the actors are so good. But the technical challenges just keep exponentially multiplying as the story goes on. If you think East Blue saga is good, the stories after just get better and better you can't even imagine like you said, wholesome and deep. I just can't fathom how Oda can do more than 1,000 chapters and still outdo himself for each arc he wrote.

If you guys want to keep the live action fresh, you can watch the anime up to episode 45. I'm sure many people (like me) at this time especially would love to see your reactions to the anime after finishing the live action and hear your thoughts about the differences from the live action to anime instead! Season 2 most likely will take at least 2 years to come out anyways lol.

Tbh onepiece was originally planned to finish 5 yrs from 1997 to 2002/3 but the fans loved it so much despite being goofy looking, even the author and publisher didn't expect so much love from the fans. Also they announced that season 2 is a huge possibility, they show the script and about to start on year.

The fans loving it didn't effect how long it's been in serialization, well obviously the sales keep it going but it's not like Oda was going to end it and then saw the reception and decided to keep going, Oda just can't help himself and comes up with new ideas too much and the story keeps dragging on as a result, much to the pleasure of the fans but it's very much Oda's own bad habits that keep the story going, he's written himself into a blackhole that keeps on extending the story, he's said the story was close to ending like 4 times since he started writing it...

Always good to see new people enjoy One Piece in any format, even cooler to see those with no experience with the story reacting in the same way to the live action as those of use who have read the manga and/or watched the Anime. As many will tell you, I highly recommend the Anime, the length seems daunting at first and before you know it you'll be 300-400 episodes deep. The key is don't rush the anime, take it at whatever pace feels comfortable and never forget first and foremost One Piece is about the journey not the destination.

This adaptation really did the Manga/Anime justice, even with the minor changes they had to make it still had the soul of One Piece. I hope you decide to check out the Anime one day, cuz it is really good. I know having over 1000 episodes can scare most people, but trust me, once you get into the show those 1000+ episodes will be over before you know it and you'll complain it's too short. We all went through that.

Been following you guys for a while and seeing you experience my favourite fictional world has been a blast. The live action absolutely nailed the appeal of One Piece, from the lovable characters with back stories that explain their actions, to the insane world building, to the perfect balance of goofy and dark, wholesome and tragic, and there's still even more to come. Even if it's not on the channel I do hope you guys catch up on the series some day, almost 1100 chapters in and it's still currently some of the best it has to offer.

He gets a lot less screen time in the manga and anime, but Koby is legit my favorite character. If the pirates have Luffy, the Marines have Koby: somebody who chases his dreams unreservedly, and commits himself to his cause. In the present day of the manga, he --and to a lesser extent, Helmeppo--have become absolute badasses. Maybe not on Luffy's level, but Koby especially has proven he can go toe-to-toe and blow-for-blow against some of the most powerful pirates in the Grand Line.

if you guys want another really good live action adaptation i STRONGLY recommend rurouni kenshin movies (there's 5 in total), they're very emotional and the fighting choreography is amazing (especially in the last one), for an added bonus the actor that plays Zoro (Mackenyu) plays the antagonist Enishi for the last movie so you'd see some more of what he's capable of (he did his own stunts) edit: if you decide to do it please watch the original in japanese with english subs rather than watching the dubbed version, i feel like a lot of emotion gets lost when dubbing movies

I know you expressed some reservations about watching the anime, but instead of watching what comes next, how about watching how the anime handled everything up to Arlong's arc? That's about 46-47 episodes, but they're a pretty nicely paced 47. (They didn't have to worry about creating filler arcs). Also, regarding your ask about anime adaptations of shows, there was Netflix's Cowboy Bebop (which crashed and burned), and there were the Rurouni Kenshin movies (which I thought were actually very good).
