To add tone pot, I would use output jack hole and reinstall output jack to side of body.

Thanks for great review! What kind of oil or else do you use to hidrate the fretboard? I read that lemon oil is not feasible for maple fretboards. Thanks!

I use lemon oil, the only reason you wouldn't want to use lemon oil on a maple fretboard would be if it's finished, (polyurethane or lacquered) which is the case a lot of the time with maple fretboard. If it's a finished fretboard, no hydration is needed. Lemon oil should be fine on any fretboard that isn't finished.

Thanks! Glad to see you reviewing this rare 491 model. Local shop has one of these in black near me, tempting to have a maple Gibson. Once demoed a 335S Solid Body with maple body about the same thickness and torrified fretboard and enjoyed the feel and tones. I have some Gibson dual rail minis with ceramic magnets in an SG and they rock distorted. The 491 sounds beefier.

Can I swap out the tuners ? Are they the regular 10mm. Also can I use a tone pro’s wraparound adjustable bridge.

I swapped my melody maker tuners out for normal Grover tuners. Fit fine with no mods at all
