This version of Nami's backstory is even darker than the anime since in the anime the town knows about Nami's plan but here it's a sacrifice she didn't tell anyone.

When Nami screamed "YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!" I started to cry. Emily Rudd(Nami), and Iñaki (Luffy) and everyone in the show did an AMAZING job

Luffy putting the hat on Nami is the biggest thing in the episode! "Don't touch my treasure" , "Give me back my hat!", "It's damaged!". Luffy is happy go lucky with everything, except the hat, and then he puts in on her head and leaves it with her. That is a fucking statement and a half!

Ultimate show of trust, but Luffy knows it's safe with her.

Arlong is like Killmonger. He's not wrong that Fish people have been repressed but he's blind to the ways that everyone is abused by the world Government. and like a real villian when faced with the inequity of the world he doesn't want to fix it , He just wants to be the one holding the whip
@Igarappappa8 ай бұрын
Plus instead of taking the fight to them, he went to a village far out in the middle of nowhere. These people have probably never even SEEN a Fishman, much less oppressed one.

Nami's backstory was really heartbreaking, but what killed me the most is seeing Nami at the end crying, screaming and hurting herself because she hates that tatoo and everything she's done for Arlong. She let everyone think she was a bad person but she was trying to help since the beginning.

Luffy is the definition of Ride or Die.
@kenmarable11 ай бұрын
Yep the whole crew is the purest example of Ride or Die at the end of this episode. They haven't heard the whole story yet and have no idea why Nami was doing what she was doing, Usopp has barely ever even been in a fight and definitely doesn't want to fight a fishman army, Zoro last drew his swords in the fight against Mihawk that could have killed him and is still seriously wounded from, but Luffy says "We need to help Nami" and no hesitation whatsoever - they've got his back.

"Of course I will." That tells you everything you need to know about Luffy.

It's worth noting that Arlong actually does have a code, but it's less obvious in the LA series than in the manga and anime. He refuses to do any harm to a fellow Fish-man -- it's humans who are fair game to him.

That's the thing - he did honour his agreement. He said Coco village would be freed if she gave him the money. And he said he'd consider the matter closed if she brought him the money before sunrise. He didn't say he wouldn't attack before sunrise or that he would prevent her from giving him the money. It's actually made worse by the fact that he technically kept his word.

Except he told Nezumi about the money so he’d take it and wouldn’t have to honor the deal. Therefore he did betray the agreement

Every time I get emotional in this series, luffy says something random.

What are the odds that Garp ended up eating all 12 of the dozen T-bone steaks? He is Luffy's grandfather after all - he seems to be the person that Luffy most likely got his appetite from.

Awesome reactions. There more to the story behind arlong’s arc. In a future arc called fishman island, Oda does a great story with the theme of pride and prejudice.
