I hope you love the anime just as much! Just a heads up that the stakes won't seem as high at first, they introduced Garp pretty early on to give this more drama and tension I guess. So it's going to move slowly, but the build up is worth it. The humor is still there and the layers never end. There are so many more islands and characters all woven together to be explored.

They ended this so well. The scene around the barrel hit so hard in the anime and it turned out beautifully in the live action. If you don’t end up watching the anime anytime soon, a lot of KZbinrs have been reacting to the openings lately. There are a few spoilers here and there but if you want some more one piece in your life after the finale you might really enjoy the openings for the show and should consider watching them! Opening 25 just came out the other day with the new anime episode (which was amazing lol)

If you, or anyone who sees this comment, are interested in starting the anime or reading the manga start on episode 48 or chapter 96 or episode 1 or chapter 1 if you want to see the differences between the live action and the anime/manga. My favorite part of this show (the entire show is top tier so choosing a favorite is hard lmao) is the Garp/Coby/Helmeppo relationship. Which apparently is mostly original to the live action (it happens in the anime, but off-screen from what I've heard). Which is really cool, this isn't just a 1:1 recreation, it's taking the anime/manga and re-telling the story in a different way, yet still managing to stay true enough to the source material. I've never been more invested in a universe just from a single season than this show, I hope Netflix and other studios take note and realize that time, effort and passion (which this was clearly full of) goes a long way in making a good show/adaptation. I'm not a huge fan of anime (the style just never appealed to me, I prefer live action, but the universes and stories seem really interesting), so it'd be really cool if this starts a wave of good anime-live action adaptations

It actually makes me tear up to think about the passion these crews and teams had to put in to those two projects. Total love of the source material, respect for the original, but still changing and adding stuff that doesn't take too much away from it. Really glad you enjoyed the series man

One Pace is ass, if you're trying to enjoy One Piece don't watch it, takes away a lot of the immersion especially in the first half, with shitty cuts. One Pace is for people who just want to catch up and get with the trend, and not for people to enjoy it. The anime is good for the first half but the pacing issues worsen overtime especially in second half of it, so it's not much better, the pacing issues take away a lot of the immersion. If you wanna enjoy One Piece to its fullest extent, watch the first half of the anime, get emotionally invested to the characters and be immersed in the world, then read the manga after.

The East Blue saga, that is, the saga remade in this live-action, was already an absolute banger and hooked me back in the day. You cannot imagine, when the story was already too good you will think how it was gonna continue to best it. But for more than 20 years, Oda sensei kept delivering, it was getting even better and better. You cannot imagine, sometimes the newer stories even put more weight on the earlier story or it was already foreshadowing along the way, just you didn't know the weight or foreshadowing yet. So, fans keep rewatching/rereading and are still not bored about it. Not only is this live-action a really good and enjoyable watch, but One Piece itself is already a God-tier story ever told in history I would say.

Love the reactions, love the love for one piece. Not sure if anyone has said it before me, if so disregard, but if you wanna watch One Piece anime you could either just grind it out OR you could watch One Pace. It’s a community made way of watching One Piece but easier, a lot less of the “filler” camera cut scenes, filler episodes removed, and every episode ran front to back, no openings or credits till a new one drops and you see it once. Worth the watch if you wanna save time but I’d always suggest the deep dive and grind it ❤

As a One Piece fan, I really enjoyed watching your reactions to Season 1 Live Action as someone who has never seen it before and watching you start to understand and love the world of One Piece! Compared to the anime, the show goes up to about episode 47 out of over 1,000 episodes and even more manga. For me, the anime was a bit different but made it fantastic for the anime. Early anime episodes can not have as good animation but I think it is the story that drives the show. Not horrible but also not great but it gets better and they are killing in in current One Piece. I would also say the anime hit me harder in different arcs then the live action and vice versa but in the end, the live action got you to the same point. I have noticed some other reaction videos who are also watching in English with English subtitles and I feel like they might pick up or read words that are said that can be hard to hear. If that might be your thing. I would assume that if they make a season two it would probably go to episode 130 of the anime. I might point out a three things that were just briefly mentioned in the live action that I think you noticed but were not emphasized. In episode two early Makino the bar owner tells you the drawbacks of eating a devil fruit. You loose your ability to swim and sea water weakens you. In episode 6 when Arlong is talking to the people on the Baratie, he says that fishmen are stronger, faster and more powerful then humans. The anime gives you a more defined answer but basically the same meaning. In episode five when Colby learns that Garp hired Mihawk to bring him Luffy. Colby then talks to Helmepo and he says that Mihawk is one of the seven Warlords of the Sea. These people are seven very strong pirates who have authority from the Marines to have free reign in exchange for doing dirty work. Continuing this trend, in episode seven, Arlong is talking the the marine Nezumi (meaning of rat in Japanese), and he says that a fishman Jimbe is a warlord of the sea.

If you're gonna watch the anime, I recommend watching One Pace! It's like a compiled version that cuts out filler, repetitive flashbacks, and all of the intros and outros. It's only in subbed tho. I really like both the sub and the English dub, so its your choice! If you do the dub, you can look up an episode list that tells you if something is canon or filler, so you can skip the filler, but a lot of filler in One Piece is actually amazing. Don't skip thr G-8 arc tho!! It's considered basically canon by the fan base.

The source material is divided into sagas and this was the first one. There 11 sagas in total and if this goes all the way, it should go for 11 seasons. The issue is that here they adapted 95 chapters and some of the longer sagas are like 150 chapters, they'd have to either compress the story even more, or make at least couple more episodes per season.

If you do really want to start watching the anime, now is a very good time. The best arc to date is just about done now (which says a lot, since shows usually get worse later on). You'd have to be very careful about spoilers now though, as they're exploding all over the internet due to them getting to the legendary parts that will go down in anime history (like subtly foreshadowed for over a decade kind of crazy). Also, the live action just covered the first arc, which is the most tame and dull(normal) of the entire series. I don't think there's another series quite like this where you can actually see the characters grow from being nobodies to being globally notorious in such a smooth and earned way.

it was redemption for helmeppo(tht annoying weird hair cut guy) but not for koby koby didn't need redemption cuz he didn't do anything wrong. and no him going after luffy wasn't him turning evil. u can hear the admiration he has for luffy since luffy freed him literally and metaphorically by encouraging him to achieve his dreams even if they might go against his. this live action koby's growth was him finding the resolve to speak up and stand against someone higher in status or more powerful than him. kid didn't have a say in wht to do with his life and was the prisoner of a pirate and considering wht he went through it was a great effort for him to stand up to someone like garp. reason he was kept getting in the way of luffy is cuz he was following the orders even knowing tht chasing luffy won't amount to anything. the only problem was tht he couldn't voice his concerns properly and in the end he did.
