Thank you Egman for the featuring my Uta Deck in your video, your question, and for covering OPTCG events. As parkerdmay (awesome player btw) commented earlier, we had a engaging conversation after our match and what he commented is 100% true. I find that Apoo is just thematic with the leader both cards being music themed. As you stated in the video, you can rest the Gordan, but that is usually only worth if you establish out a 2 blocker law on 2 don. (The best case scenario is 4 don turn: 1 don Apoo, hit with 2 drop law, 1 don law ability, play Nami 1 don search with Nami attach 1 on leader hit 6k draw) In my experience most RP laws choose to go 2nd, so what I mentioned before is already unlikely on top of the the fact that I would not mulligan for Apoo plus 2 drop law. To elaborate further, perhaps the better question may be to ask "why not run the green Mihawk 2k counter" as most people do. The best combo is Mihawk Brook Nami on 3 which is already extremely unlikely and actually puts you in an unfavorable position due do brook being rested. Your opponent would attack the brook and you would have to either let it go or go all in to counter with 3 cards in hand. The turn after, Nami will hit when you have 5 life and now you most likely can't protect the rested Nami. I find that this type of playstyle conflicts with Eustass 8 drop as you want to have a large hand size when you play the kid even even if that means you have to take the life early. Additionally, in games where Nami is out, you are already spending 1 don for leader, and 1 for Nami draw. You just won't have don to even attack with Mihawk and if you do, you sacrificing either draw power or playing out additional characters on board. With this line of reasoning, I concluded that any 2k counter is fine if you choose to run more than 8 2k counters in a green Uta deck. I hope this insight proves to be useful. Best regards, Weldon

I played Weldon (Uta) in Round 3 and he told me that he only played Apoo as the extra 2k because it was "on theme with a musical leader" lol

Any reason why he doesn't run any Backlight, especially in the current Law meta?

@@dawchii Thank you for the question. I find the backlight is not very good due to it having to KO a rested character. Here are some example oppurtunity costs for when this card maybe played: 5/6 don turn, unless RP law plays rush there will be no rested characters to KO , 7/8 don you can not no longer play 7 drop luffy. 9/10 don turn you can no longer play Eustass 8 drop. The other effect of spending 2 don to rest a character usually is not worth due to you usually having to need to invest more don on attacking the rested character. Now you can no longer establish a board. This rest effect is by far stronger due to it being able to win you some games by resting blockers. I find this scenario way to niche similar to the red event diable jambe card. Yes, you can most certainly win you games like this, however I find the 3 cost I'm Invincible event gets the same result. My game plan against RP law is to establish a board to put pressure. I hope they have to use leader ability and minus cards early before I play Eustass 8 drop. RP law has to respect the early game aggression due to 3 cost I'm Invincible event. If you are willing to take my word for it, day 1 was 10 rounds. I played 5 RP laws. Top cut day, I played 4 best of 3 matches, 3 of which RP law. 2 out of the 3 matches I won 2-1. (note that my placement during top cut was very poor, thus I automatically lose the die roll on my matches) My round 4 exit I lost to RP 0-2 (I for sure could've played better and for sure should've won 1 game at least, but I think I was too excited that I already finished top 8) In total that is 12 out 16 games. When reflecting on my losses, I always concluded that it was me not having 4 cost brook or 7 cost luffy when I needed them most. None of those games I loss did I wish I had a backlight. I hope my thought process provides you some use, and do not let my opinion persuade you not try out the card for yourself if you so choose.

I took all the Enels out of the running for top 64. I’m the x1 Hannyabal that beat them all in the morning, going on a 5-0 tear. I then proceeded to lose 5 games in-a-row in the afternoon to Laws & Geckos and by consequence gave all the Enels terrible tiebreaks 😂. Enel is a good deck, it just loses to me 😈 (My Bandai TCG+ handle is V4Clutch)
