I fully agree with you about Tom and Jerry vs Bugz Bunny. And I think we're about the same age (I'm 33), so maybe it's a generational thing??? Either way, I used to watch a fair bit of Tom and Jerry anyway, cuz back in the day there weren't a lot of different options to choose from sometimes LOL. But from what I've seen, I also just feel like G5 Luffy is much more akin to Looney Tunes type of vibes and antics as opposed to what I remember watching of Tom and Jerry. Now, I know Oda has said that he loved Tom and Jerry as a kid, so I'm sure he was very inspired by it, but the way he depicts G5 Luffy seems much zanier to me than Tom and Jerry ever was! I'm 31 and I like Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes. I really don't think it is a generational thing. But 100% just taste. I think Gear 5 does leans more towards Tom and Jerry's type of humor. Looney Tunes had slapstick and actual jokes. But Tom and Jerry did more body stretching than Bug Bunny ever did since it relied more of Physical Humor. The way Luffy gets hurt in Gear 5 is the exact way Tom got hurt. Though yeah. It's taking from both. But certain gags are just more direct references to one show than the other.

Something that I loved is that in the translation I read, Dorry and Broggy didn't know that Luffy is the sun god, and just noticed that he's wearing a costume that resembles it, and as shown later they came to help him just because he is their friend, this gave me vibes like the chapter after gear five was revealed and Luffy kept being himself.

I think the whole thing with York is that her function is only eat, sleep, poop, so she never logs into Punk Records cause she was never thought of as important enough too. Vegapunk didnt care about what his food and poops were like so York was left out, hence why she grew contemptuous and betrayed the rest of the Vegapunks. His hubris took for granted things like food and sleep. And poop. Recording your poops could actually be very telling on your health but i doubt Vegapunk thought of that

I've been considering lately, since Vegapunk specifically said that the satellites only link up to the central database brain once per day, if York maybe doesn't know about the message cause Vegapunk recorded it that morning, like right before Shaka called Dragon. In that case, even without the Stella suspecting anyone and trying to hide the info from the main brain, York still wouldn't have had time to find out about it yet since it happened after the last time she had a scheduled system backup/download.

Random funfact from intro. Youve probably heard of a sunshield because it's a real life thing (or maybe from an anime). Theyre used for high precision space aircraft, most notably GAIA and the new JWST. Theyre massive deployable materials that do as it sounds, block out the sun. Firstly to prevent any incoming IR waves from interfering with the measurement systems but also to keep the system cool. As the system also emits IR waves itself so keeping it around -200F reduces this drastically and the sun side of these devices can reach 300F so it also serves to protect from such an extreme temp gradient both damaging and interfering with the measurement tools as well as keep them cool enough to reduce internal interference as well! I was a space nerd growing up lol

I think Luffy painting the bat was him coating it in Haki but using Toon Force. When Luffy uses Gear 5 he's able to coat objects and himself in different Toon Force ways that may appear like the black paint in the chapter.

I have a theory about the iron giant and its attack on the holy land 200 years ago. We know it is powered by the awakening of the gum gum fruit, so it seems like potentially the fruit was awakened 200 years ago by someone else, there by allowing the giant to be powered and attack the holy land, but they were then defeated which is what caused the robot to shut down. It might even be a situation where the person who awakened the fruit was with the robot when it attacked and they were killed during the attack and then the WG just covered that part of it up.
