I wouldn’t necessarily say that Haki and devil fruits are opposites to each other. Maybe Devil Fruits are just the most extreme manifestation of haki. We know that zoan devil fruits have a will of their own, and we also know that devil fruits seem to be the wishes (~will) of people manifested. Devil fruits being the most extreme manifestation of haki could also explain why haki can nullify devil fruits in the first place - it „over-Manifests“ the power of the devil fruit. I feel like maybe Ruffy is accessing Nikas/Joy Boys Haki in Gear 5, since it seems that his Haki also get‘s a boost whenever he enters gear 5. Maybe Bonney by extension also taps in to Nikas Haki

Idc what anyone says carrot not joining made no sense. She was supposed to inherit pedros will and pedro wanted to join the gold rogers crew. In the end the entire world will be begging for the Sun God to bring the Dawn we will probably have a scene of all the people of the world screaming Luffy/Joy boys name and Then Luffy will answer their prayers (Whatever that looks like)

Its pretty obvious that Oda is trying to send the message that Bonney and Luffy are similar characters. They both highly value freedom. So much so that when Luffy unlocked G5 Kaido commented on his haki and how does Luffy feel when in G5? FREE. He said so himself at the start of Egghead. Therefore, because he is free his haki gets stronger. So it makes sense to say that because Bonney is in a state of mind that she feels free, she was able to use haki. Its not her devil fruit, its her will being strengthened because she is free.

What I enjoy most about chapter like this are that it reminds us to slow down and not jump to conclusions. This happens in every arc. People get disappointed because they don’t see immediate results and the grind of reading weekly makes it feel so much longer. Hence why the robot gets written off as irrelevant, Vegapunk’s speech gets criticized, and everyone goes wild over Bonney being Nika. All before we even get the full picture of what’s really going on. Glad chapters like this exist to clear the air.

I agree. Oda corrects it at the end and shows us why he is still king of writing. The only thing that bothers me is g5. I hate how everything revolves around prophecy and I hate that luffy isnt himself. He failed to protect Vega Punk. Robin is heavily injured and he is still laughing and dancing

We have Carrot who was a female warrior mink that's survived in the new world. We basically got her flashback and her dream in real time. She would have been great as a lookout and also the artist of the crew. She was missing those defining moments in Wano sadly which diminished her chances. Yamoto got pretty much everything on top of actually asking to join the crew but she had very little interaction with the SH crew. There was also little reason for her not to come along even with that little issue. The fact that we had two very good candidates for SH and Oda said nope, Bonney might not join. She could just go with the revolutionaries too.

i'm a bit confused why Morj is so intent on hearing Vegapunk say the World Government is objectively evil when he literally said, in his speech's opening, that he's explicitly not passing judgement in relation to who killed him and who was at fault during the Void Century? i just feel it's a bit of a wasted effort being so upset at the story for that not happening, when the man himself in the story said he wouldn't do that. Like I said, i'm moreso confused why this is such a sticking point to Morj, not trying to cause any arguments or anything.

I don't think she's going to join, I think the worst generation is going to keep its current roster and not one will join another's crew. Law was given a bunch of attention, Luffy outright said I'm going to have him join my crew. Bonney has been away from her dad for years, she loves him more than anything so I expect her to go somewhere with Kuma and possibly show up during the final war to pull a Tama. I also think that Yamato is pulling a Jinbe and will be the last member, I think this cover story will end with a potential for her deciding to head out to sea.

Bonney and Chopper has some parallels in that regard. When you first meet Chopper he was afraid to be a monster. But after being with the straw hats he feels comfortable on being a monster to protect his crew mates. With Bonney when you meet her she hates being a child, so she is always in her adult form. But once she hangs out more with the straw hats, she’ll realize it’s ok to be a child and have fun.

I disagree on the Bonnie take, I believe this makes it less likely she'll join the crew. You see, characters serve a purpose, and this character is being "tracked" for a long time, which implies the importance of that role. However I believe Bonnie's role in the story was just fulfilled when she transformed into Gear 5, and that's because her powers are directly linked to imagination. 1. Vegapunk tells us fruits are connected to imagination, somehow 2. Bonnie's powers are linked to imagination 3. We've a "god," whatever that really means, of imagination So my idea is, Bonnie's role/place is just to create a way for Luffy to learn about Nika's power. Also, Nika's extreme Looney Tunes behaviour may even seem obnoxious to some… and we know Oda knows that, so my guess is that this is part of the plan - to emphasis and overuse one the laughing part. Why? Well, glad (I) asked, that's because laughter is contagious… so what happens when Luffy's conqueror works together with Nika… imagine a billion Nikas jumping at you 😄

Regarding the Haki and Devil Fruits. When Luffy first went Gear 5 and became the Sun God his Haki seemed completely different. Far more monsterous and powerful that seemed like it was from a different person acting through him (Joyboy or Nika?) He was laughing and jumping around whilst insane haki was eminating from him vs Kaido. He definitely had more in that form.

The devil fruit helped unlock her will/confidence/FREEDOM which helped with her Haki king. You could even argue only the Nika form can get Haki cuz she has freedom to use Haki in that form even if she doesn't know. freedom is unlimited will power physically and mentally 🥵🥵🥵 at least for one punch lol

When burning the Merry-Go we have Luffy in the front boat and the crew behind with Kokoro, Chimney, Gonbe. I feel like its a foreshadowing for Straw Hats: Jinbe fishmen counterpart of Kokoro, Bonney is little girl counterpart of Chimney, and ?/Gonbe. I feel like with Gonbe it was gonna be Carrot but it isn't the case so my guess is if the Yuki Yuki no Mi spawn on Nami Tangerines whoever eats the fruit will be Gonbe counterpart.

There's only 1 power in the OP world, Haki. Fruits aren't different "magic" types, it's just that only extreme Haki (just above Luffy's level) can produce those "effects," and therefore containing the power in a fruit enables the use of the power without the expected mastery of Haki. Also the "theory" presented in the story is the devil fruits represent a slice of the Devil's power, only a fragment. That would track with my theory, as a true master of Haki would be the Devil himself limited only by his imagination. Essentially being able to reproduce any Devil Fruit power, would be the ultimate freedom and the very top of existence in OP.

Bonney won't join the crew, Vivi is going to return to the crew, Luffy is going to be separated again from the Straw Hats. Bonney and Luffy are going to be nearly killed by the Gorosei, but saved at the last second by the remaining will of Kuma who teleports both of them away giving hope for both of their survival (possibly being sent to the Revolutionary Army?) With Kuma being finished off by the Gorosei, his DF will be released and made into a new fruit close by, ending up in the hands of Vivi. Big News Morgan is going to meet up with the escaping Straw Hats where Vivi will reunite with the crew with Luffy and Bonney missing. The Straw Hats travel to Elbaf escaping the pursuing Marines while being escorted by the Giants.

She's definitely joining, now escaping with Strawhats to Elbaph she doesn't have other choice, it's too dangerous to leave her alone, she found kuma and luffy promised to VP he'll look out for her, I don't see where else she could end up at

I wasn't convinced by his form at the beginning since its just a big ass boar with nothing specially creepy about it like the cursed horse, the hellish bird and saturn ofc. But he's been the most impressive so far, there's just no way around him, u either flee or die.

The fact that the "bonney" flash back was really kuma's centric means that bonney isn't a crew mate. If she were going to become a straw hat her flash back would have been absolutely bonney centric. Like if you agree

Bonny will not join. She has no goal besides survival and revenge. She is a child. She will most likely only stay to get Kuma repaired by Franky.

Sure, from our POV it would have been great if Vegapunk exposed the World Government, but wouldn't that have been a bit reckless? Let's face it, he's been intimidated by the WG for some time. It would be selfish if in his dying moments he threw the world into probable chaos by calling them out. He straight up stated that his killer shouldn't be villainized. I'm also glad that the transmission isn't over, but if you're waiting for him to expose the WG, don't hold your breath.

Bonney haki doesnt surprise me. Nika being or not a DF, being freedom, its all just about will. For me, will power at full let you imaginate whatever. So, it is obviously haki (will = haki). Asuming this, going further, if i remember well, kaido says Nika exudes conqueror. And also makes all sense: imagine really "Being Free", at the very least it has to give you all the "powers". Just as its the most tiring thing to do in the world

I believe Bonney won’t join the crew because the luffy’s dream scene felt very much like the crew is complete now. Funnily enough, Bonney having gear 5 powers made me feel like that was confirmation that she WASN’T going to join instead. I love Bonney having it, but it would feel weird if there were two nikas on the crew permanently. I really don’t think Bonney will join but I’d love if she did.

Hmmmm no. Vegapunk specifically stated that he doesn’t want to pass judgement on who’s right and who’s wrong. Especially knowing that he has done some wrong doing. You can argue that VP is evil based on the weapons his created. He knows and understands that. So him explicitly saying the WG is evil doesn’t make sense. A theme in One Piece is that right and wrong is not black and white. But for the reader/other characters in the story to determine that for themselves. Based on VP message, we don’t really know who used the weapons 800 years ago. Why would Joyboy want to pass on weapons that can destroy or drown the world. We assume the WG is evil and Joyboy is good. Based on Luffy being the protagonist and the WG is the antagonist. That may be true now, but what if it was the opposite 800 years ago?

Umm morj you gotta understand Oda loves giving backstories to side characters. I understand this arc should be upgrades for franky & ussop tech up & chopper medical knowledge upgrades but this arc did nothing for the straw hats.
