@@FencingMessiah I wouldn’t call it a retcon. It’s just strategic open ended writing. It’s not really a retcon if doesn’t change established facts in a story. U have to keep in mind mangaka have to write and illustrate 15+ pages every week with minimal breaks. Often times they leave things open ended to fill in the blanks later so they don’t have to figure everything out while on a time crunch. For example creating elaborate one piece esque backstories for each of the 9 new supernovas would’ve been time consuming. So Leaving a character like law or bonneys backstory open ended allows for Oda to work them into plot lines in the future if he wants. Writing isn’t always a linear process. Sometimes authors figure out the key points of their series and then have fun “free balling” the story from there. That’s likely Odas method. Which is why sometimes his writing seems god tier and other times a bit janky. As for the way Bonney speaks early on in the series she was 10. 10yr olds r much more intelligent and articulate than people think. Especially considering how rough her life was. She’s had to grow up quick. That really doesn’t confirm her age got retconned. Especially considering oda had ??? Under her age in her vivre card 12 years ago only 3 years after the timeskip. Meaning he could’ve had those ideas well before the timeskip.

If you think like that, then almost everything is a retcon since the series was supposed to be finished in 5 years from when the first chapter came out. Considering the entirety of the WB pirates fought akainu alone and he emerged unscathed it can be assumed that there’s such a huge difference between top tiers and commanders that a top tier fighter can take on an entire crew of commanders. Plus most of the fight was off screen. Who’s to say aokiji or shiryu or any of the BB pirates for that matter even used their full power set?Which brings me to the next problem. 2. This community acts like certain things r facts but they’re really gross assumptions. We know absolutely nothing about blackbeard or his crews full power set. So saying they’d lose to the straw hats currently is just insane amounts of headcanon. The only one that is for sure a bum is burgess considering h was no diffed by sabo. But even then that was before he got a crazy ass df ability that literally multiplied his strength. There’s just not enough to go on to scale bb or any of his crew. Literally every time BB or any of his crew does something cool it gets off screened.

I think Big mom returns in Elbaph, and gets in the way of the holy knights plan. Probably end up being Luffy vs Big mom, Zoro vs Loki, Sanji vs Kat, etc with just a small clash with the holy knights since I assume they are being saved for the rev army so can't see the leader of the holy knights going down this arc. Kaido, however I think will end up joining Black Beard and working alongside him, due to seeing a resemblance in his old captain/ally Rocks

41:40 I think you may need to combine a bit of Japan’s post-war context to interpret Oda’s message here? on one hand demilitarising and focusing back on education is inherently beneficial; on the other hand one cannot be so pacifistic one became unable to defend oneself, especially in the midst of increasing geopolitical tensions. Speaking of crews, I'm very curious on how Rocks crew was built up. Is it just a crew full of various pirate captains alongside their crew, and Rocks was just seen as the leader (think along how Luffy isn't the captain of Kidd and Law, but they follow Luffy orders anyway or was the Rock's crew a legit pirate with White beard and I guess Shiki being like his wings or such? I will say though, that the running trend for the strongest crews (those closet to reaching pirate king) so far seem to a captain and at bare minimum a right hand that is relative to them in strength and power, someone that could be a strong and powerful pirate captain rival in their own right. Roger had Rayleigh, another conquer White beard had oden, another conquer who white beard even states is not the type to follow orders Luffy has Zoro the wild cards are Blackbeard, Rocks (don't know the full dynamic of his crew yet), and potentially Shanks (we know Beckman was a strong and dangerous pirate when shanks found him, but not sure of his full capabilities yet)

Shamrocks sword doesn't have a Devil Fruit, its the same as the Gorosei, its the devil that would be inside a fruit. The cerberus itself, it's why it didn't have a text box saying the fruit name even though Gunko's got one.

Hey Morj, I’d like your thoughts on this: What if each of the 3 worlds represent one one Blackbeard’s abilities? The first world mentions the “serpent of hell”, which I assume to be about the creation of the Red Line. The Red Line itself is an enormous mountainous structure, which ,in the real world, are created through intense seismic activity - the Gura-Gura no mi. The second world mentions nothingness/void - the Yami-Yami no mi. The third world mainly focuses on the Sun God - Blackbeard taking Loki’s Sun God fruit?

A character knowing nothing about the history looking at this mural would probably assume the big monster on the left is the "sun god" and is evil. This might also be a reason for the confusion on whether nika is good or evil.

That’s what I thought as well, but then it was said previously by the giants that the Nika is the Sun God and that the common thread between Nika, no matter is the culture, is that he’s always laughing. Which makes me believe that they’re questioning whether the laughing person (Nika) is savior or destroyer and not the giant monster thing holding the sun.

my interpretation of this is that: first world The world was on fire (not literarily) Mankind got greedy for more power but the slaves (who was used to get that power) wished for the sun god to save them. Sun God = Nika Which angered the "land god" = probably the leader of mankind and probably self proclaimed like Enel/Imu. Not clear if the "land god" or "sun god" or both teamed up with the infernal serpent (which probably is an ancient weapon) They won the war and world went into darkness = bad end? Second world Theres still some life in the aftermath The forest god, could be an actual god this time, spawned devil fruits? The sun (which was what the mankind greed created/claimed in the first world aka the power source) continued to cause wars to happen over it. Or its Sun God again = Joy Boy this time. But then why would the translation just be The sun and not the sun god like before? The half moon people = the D tribe, saw a dream. Probably a prophetic dream. The moon people = the actual people from the moon that Enel saw in the cover story, also had the same dream. Man (Imu) killed the sun (or Joy Boy) and became god. The Sea God became mad (after the flooding) The Third World Void century started The survivors remembers the dream (from The Second World) The sun god dances, laughs (Luffy) Leading the world = story to its end. A new morning will come. = The dawn which Oda kept on writing about in Wano, which signifies a new begining and happy start. Just not sure who "they" are who wasn't able to meet but now for sure will meet One is for sure Sun God = Luffy but no idea who the other one is. Can't be Imu because they already met, with JoyBoy. And Luffy already met shanks too. So maybe Dragon?

I don't know why people think Scopper Gaban is not as strong as Rayleigh or even stronger. I understand he was second in command and typically first commanders or vice captains are stonger so while the Roger pirates were active I understand why Rayleigh was stronger. BUT afterwards is the real question. Maybe Rayleigh is at the level he is because he was mostly inactive. We don't know whether Scopper did some regimen afterwards and kept his powers high or even higher afterwards. We know old age plays a role so there is a ceiling but we can't downplay that he is below Rayleigh just because was 2nd and Rayleigh was 1st. There hss been years gone by and Scopper could have done serious training and maybe using secret knowledge or something to keep him up. Maybe whereas Rayleigh kept the same typa powers, what of Scopper somehow dabbled into the powers Imu has and got immortality somehow. We don't know and the fact that Scopper is coming in so late in the game is pivotal. Rayleigh came in when Luffy needed the base level of a new world pirate. He got guided with enough power to at least be 1st division commander by the end of whole cake and he needed to push himself to get to yonko level and now maybe Gaban has the power to take Luffy further.

I stopped reading as soon as u started theorizing. That’s why people don’t think gabban is on Rayleigh lvl. He has no feats or portrayal that even compares him to other second commanders let alone Rayleigh. The only way yall can scale him that high is purely using head canon. For all we know gabban is weaker than jack. The story has literally never portrayed that he was anywhere close to Rayleigh.

@@kingmanga8575 nobody can say much about Gaban except that he was the third in command after Rayleigh and he clashed with Oden (can't remember whether this was in the manga but i defs remember it in anime, now Rayleigh was facing child marco). Now everyone's headcanon is Rayleigh was stronger and thus currently is stronger. I'm saying we don't know and I want people to not just assume that currently Rayleigh is stronger than Gaban.

And it’s not just an assumption that Rayleigh is stronger. He simply has better feats and portrayal. Rayleigh was portrayed as Roger’s PARTNER, fought evenly with an admiral in his old age, had blackbeard running from him at his old age, and was compared to WB as a legend by garp himself. Gabban simply doesn’t have that lvl of portrayal or feats. It’s not headcanon leading us to believe Rayleigh is clearly stronger than Gabban. Prime Rayleigh has yonko tier portrayal. Gabban doesn’t have feats or portrayal to say he’s even cracker lvl bro 😂😂😂 Ur argument is purely based on agenda and headcanon. Anybody who actually read the series and doesn’t start writing fan fiction can see that Rayleigh is clearly portrayed as the strongest crew member roger had on his ship.
