Congratulations! You just completed the prologue of One Piece, which is around 8% of the series & that number gets smaller with every manga chapter. Now, here’s where things start to get crazy. Season 2 is still filming & they’ve already announced a lot of castings, including the pivotal character of Season 2.

I’d say the manga is the stronger of the adaptations currently available. You’re getting the story straight from the author, and you benefit from cover art and side content that you won’t get anywhere else

Bold move to call the manga an “adaptation” 😂

For fun, go back and watch the execution scene in the first episode and see who you can find in the crowd.

You'll enjoy the manga. Just know that what you've seen here isn't even the entirety of what is considered the prologue of the story, and that the live action has made its own fair share of changes, so it will be a very familiar journey that reads very differently. And once you catch up and can break new material... there will be nothing to stop you from going down the rabbit hole! xD I personally wouldn't recommend holding off for the second season, because once you start waiting for the next season, you may want to commit to keep waiting for the third season and so on.. and given that the production schedule isn't going at a the fastest pace ever, that means you'll just end up putting yourself through a lot of unneeded suffering. Of course, reading One Piece is equal parts suffering and enjoyment, so you'll never be free of suffering. You should know as much after having seen this first season: Eiichiro Oda can really hit you hard in the feelings when he wants to. And from what I know, there are some scenes where he has literally reduced himself to tears while drawing. The upcoming seas(ons) are going to be rough...!

You are certainly part of the top 5 One Piece reaction channels for me, I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the second season, reading the manga is the best option, the only thing that was a little sad was that you cut Luffy's main attack, the Gatling Gun that he uses against Arlong, it's one of his strongest attacks, and he uses it several times in the manga, here in the live action only once unfortunately.

One Piece is a great choice for your first manga. In text it's not even that long, but if you take time to appreciate the art of every panel then you've got weeks or months of material to catch up on until you reach the latest chapter. I hope you do it and that you'll enjoy it! It's one of those stories where the ball starts rolling and then it never stops, everything about it just gets bigger, better, more fantastic, more jaw dropping!😁

Read the manga, yesss. You don't need to wait for the live action or vice versa since what happened in the manga/anime were very very different from the live action ;)))

I know I'm incredibly late to this, but if you're still on the fence, my opinion is yes yes yes read the manga!!! Somehow, over 1000 chapters along, the story is STILL managing to get better. I know the length seems daunting at first, but before long you realize the best part about One Piece is the journey you get to go on with it. It seems long before you begin, but by the time you're caught up, you're just wishing there was more 😊 Welcome to the OP family, by the way!!

Yes. Cannot recommend the manga enough. If you really genuinely liked this season, then there's 0 chance you don't absolutely love the manga. It's even better than the live action. You won't regret it.
