I think Nami didn’t realize Sanji was lying because he actually scared her enough with his whole performance, there’s a moment in the ep where he looks at her with aggression, that’s the moment it occurs

I thinks nami also reacted that way bc she is afraid to trust people and sanji being one of the few people she trust betraying her most important person that made her trust again (luffy) being hurt like that really scares her. There is a fantastic in to dept character development vid of nami that really explained this moment fantastic. But unfortunately it also go some spoilers. So you can’t watch it just yet.

Every anime only always has to convince themselves the anime "elevated" the unfinished material,quit lying to yourself the manga chapter was perfect,somehow this was a really good adaptation but every manga chapter is like this

7:26 in the manga some scenes were way way faster, sanji didn't kick luffy like 30 times like he had done it in the anime, but 8 times and then luffy got knock down instantly, he wasn't conscious after the last kick. The anime really did a good job with the music, the voice acting, very good at make you feel emotions, I cried during this scene, but the more drama change the perspective of power scale, even you thought that luffy could take a lot of hits from sanji, but we have on one side luffy whitout haki and not defending himself, and on the other side Sanji very determined using haki, and especially going full strenght with the last kick that knock down luffy instantly. Episode 808 is one of the episode with the best ratio because it was able to make you feel the emotions of a "useless" fight, still today one of the best episode of one piece, especially Luffy's ending speech, i can watch/read it 100 times and every times I will cry (like I said, a 9.99/10 episode, the only thing that didn't make me put 10/10 is because they decided to make it very dramatic like it should be, but they change the "power scale" between characters, sanji seems very weak to not defeating a defensless luffy). side not: If zoro was here, he wouldn't done anything, like with usopp vs luffy, he would have respected the choice that luffy made to not interfere with the duel, because we know that luffy has "won" this fight, the one that is getting hurt is sanji, not luffy, people forget and don't understand simple things sometimes, they think zoro would have killed sanji because zoro is the most loyal strawhat and he would do everything to defend luffy, but this is not loyalty, following luffy's orders is loyalty, true zoro fans understand this simple fact.

I still wonder how Zoro would react to this. Maybe Oda decided to split the group coz if Zoro was there, the situation might have become very complicated and chaotic. Zoro might have done something or intervened.
