I always come back to this scene because Brook is a character that needs more action. My favorite thing about him his the fact that he fills a very strange part of the Straw Hat crew. He is the oldest by far. And while he is by no means the strongest Straw Hat, he certainly can pull his own weight. (NOT THAT HE WEIGHS MUCH YOHOHOHOHO) He certain ranks pretty high in terms of combat amongst the Straw hats. Arguably right below the monster trio (and Jinbe, who, imo, is on par with or just below the trio) making him perhaps 5th or 6th strongest in terms of technique and battle strength. That said, power ratings in One Piece rarely mean much of anything. Brook exceeds what I think is expected of him and that is what makes him one of my personal favorite straw hats.

Honestly between Robin, Brook, and Franky it so hard to rank which of those three is the strongest. Franky has so much diversity within his utility and raw power. Not only that but he’s now using Vagapunks upgrades during time skip Robin’s devil fruits is a diverse devil fruit like Luffy’s. Her calm demeanor might also help when she’s in fights Brook barely takes things seriously, which could sometimes lead to his downfall. Makes me wonder if he always gave it 100%

I feel like Brook always holds back, it's like he doesn't like to fight that much, that's always why he ends his opponents in one to three powerful swings, he wants to end the experience as soon as possible. Using his speed and strength properly he could probably cut off a giant limbs before the giant would even realizing it. Plus his new soul powers such as that ice ability and mind control makes him even more deadly. We haven't seen the true scale of his abilities since the time skip. Because no one he fought is remotely on his level. Heck Brook could have probably defeated half of the members of Doflamingo family. Not all at once of course. If he was as brutal as Zoro or some of the other fighters on the crew he would be a force to be reckoned with. His devil fruit also revolves not just around bring a person back, but death in general, imagine an ability where he could summon spirits of his past crew mates or something like that. If Brook cared more about fighting or got more fight scenes like the fans wanted, he could be a more important member of the crew.

Nami is definitely the worst - as you said, nothing more than sex appeal and gags (which have grown old). Robin is meh, her story was soo damn cool, and her Enies Lobby arc were one of the best in the series. But ever since then it's kinda been downhill. Sanji is too much into the "women crazed" mode - but with the current Vismonke arc, I have high hopes of him becoming badass again! Brook is still a solid character, but he REALLY needs more time to shine. His "Humming Brook" from thriller bark is still the best. I feel like him (and Robin and Chopper) will get their time to shine in 2017 after Sanji. I REALLY want Brook to become more serious. In his joking mode, he's funny at best, meh at worst. Usopp (unless he is in his hero mode) is also not interesting ... He is coward - okay got it ... but come on - every time, for every single thing ... its just too much. Franky is ... boring. Frankys radical beam could probably take down Choppers monster point pretty easily, and a couple of Brooks soul slashes could also probably take down Chopper, Frankys radical beam would probably be to slow to hit Brook directly and it takes a while to charge up which would give Brook ample time to take him down, this is the reason why I think he should be 4th strongest, although I'm not sure how Brook would fare against Sanji to test how close he is to the monster trio.
