Personal opinions. I liked them both but the fight against Lucci was more balanced and thus, funnier. Vs. Katakuri is great, but it was pretty much one-sided for most of it and Luffy only won thanks to his insane durability and the fact that Katakuri decided to purposedly harm himself to compensate for Flampe's dirty intervention, most likely giving himself a larger handicap than Luffy's own. He didn't get a clean win.

Honestly it's more because of the character, I don't think anybody cared about Katakuri until he stabbed himself, same thing with whitebeard, he had been shown multiple time throughout the show but it was only when Whitebeard showed his love and determination to protect ace and his crew that the people started to like whitebeard and accept him as a badass, that's why a lot of people hate akainu, although he is a total badass everytime he appears the narrative presents him as a cruel antagonist, having killed ace directly and whitebeard indirectly makes him more of an @ssh0l3 to the viewer, above of all since we don't know nothing about him besides his obsession with killing pirates

Rob Lucci fight had more impact/ meaning imo but Luffy vs Katakuri was the better fight

@@alextroll3400 gear 2 > gear 4 Fight wasnt dragged for 20+ episodes The plot around the fight The Art style pretimeskip Balanced fight The katakuri fight surely had cool scenes especially the finishing attack and the usage of conquerers haki, still there was too many unnecessary scenes, the fight couldve been cut down by a ton to make it better but its Just a common thing pasttimeskip to drag the plot, also luffy was wearing plot armor the whole fight, the fact that he still stood up after all the Hits He Took is bs honestly, Overall the fight wasnt Bad, actually it was one of the best pasttimeskip, but nowhere near the lucci fight

Undead Scene dude are you seriously talking about the finishing blow and haki clash. What makes the fight much better than lucci‘s is obviously the fact that they respect each other during the fight. This is the first time ever luffy respected his opponent that much. I don‘t care about that haki clash shit or something else. This was a real 1 vs 1 battle between men.

When WCI arc ended in the manga, I was super sad because it meant the end of Katakuri's greatness. Still I managed to cheer myself up with the fact that he would soon appeared in anime and the moment he did, for the very first time in years, I was enjoying OP anime over OP manga on weekly basis. But now WCI is ending in anime as well... and there is nothing to fill in the void.
