You ask a lot of good questions, and I can answer almost none of them without either spoiling things or just going way to deeply into the nature and culture of the original medium that is manga and to a lesser degree anime. For example: shouting attacks is just one of those manga things, but instead of stripping it out, they chose to fully lean into its silliness with this adaptation (in a way many other franchises might not) because One Piece is very lighthearted and silly on the surface of things. Many of the more concrete questions you have do have answers, but not all of them will be given in this first season and perhaps never in the live-action, because the latter is an immense exercise in trimming the fat for a live-action audience. It covers just about 95 chapters worth of content in eight episodes, or 45ish episodes in the anime. As a whole, they managed to capture the essence of the characters and story beats pretty well, although there are definitely some major changes and aspects that the fans think got butchered along the way. So, if you are ever like 'this does not make sense' or 'why?' in a way that is not a matter of 'this world is weird with its extravagant outfits and talking phones and stuff', you can pretty much count on it being one of the many explanations that were cut or to be something that is intentionally unclear because it is explained at a later point in the story. In regards to consuming One Piece, there are several options. The Live Action and a fresh new anime reboot ('The One Piece') yet to be released are your bet for roughly those first 100 chapters the live action already covers. But if you want the long term, 25+ years worth of lifework cooking experience, there is only the original anime ('One Piece') and the manga. The benefit of the manga is that it reads relatively quickly and is the original medium. The benefit of the anime is that seeing things animated and hearing the great voice actors and soundtrack have a liveliness that have essentially become the face of the series as a whole, but at a cost of those thousands of episodes. No matter what you end up doing, please remember that One Piece is a marathon you will complete for your own enjoyment. It is not a race to be 'caught up', nor is it a regimen where you need to watch three episodes a day or reach a self-imposed deadline of catching up within three years. It is the lifework of one man that has managed to touch so many people so deeply with its wonderful storytelling and crazy worldbuilding, and if one were to look beyond the medium, then one can easily put it side-by-side with great tales like Lord of the Rings, the Wheel of Time and Game of Thrones. Fans typically consider the things you see in this first season as the tutorial or the prologue of One Piece, because it is laying all the foundations the story needs to succeed in the long run. (And yet it still tells some great simple stories in its own right!)

amen 💜 i wish everyone (that liked the live action or is interested for any other reason) could see your comment 💜 i was 14 when the anime started so i grew up with one piece and it heavily influenced me (and even saved me) and i rewatch/reread it every so often so i never understood why people hesitate to start. this story is so great, (diverting, silly, emotional etc.) that no one can stop once they startet and at one point everyone will be angsty to finally catch up and have to suffer the wait for the next chapter/episode and the inevitable end like everyone else 😅

Yeah but Bleach is at least HALF filler. One Piece is about 10% filler, so there is so much story to delve into.

This season covers roughly the first 46 episodes, and season 2 was greenlit a few days after season one was released.

Great video! If you end up wanting to get deeper into the series, watch out for spoilers from the fandom. It happens all the time, often on accident. If you get through this season, you’ll be approximately 100 chapters into a story with 1100+ chapters and counting. Have fun!

Hey! Glad to have you watching! Just wanted to rattle off a few answers without spoiling anything for you so here it goes. In Shonen anime it’s a very common trope for the protagonist to say their moves. Take Dragonball Z for example (Kamehameha). Garp the older Marine you saw from Gold Rogers execution as well as right near the end of the episode are indeed the same person just 22 years in between. In the Anime Rogers speech is a bit different but the overall message is the same they basically just left out the part where he says The One Piece is in the Grand Line. Not everyone in this world is a pirate, lots of regular people are all over the place. The vast majority of pirates are not the greatest people as shown by Nami and Koby’s understanding of them. Keep in mind as stated in the beginning (this is a world like no other) this is an anime world. Some things are similar to our own however others are not. Most of that does get explained and any questions you have regarding pretty much anything like that is answered in the anime/manga by the author Eichiiro Oda. He’s incredible when it comes to world building among many other things so you can rest assured most if not all questions you have regarding how this or that works will almost certainly get an answer. It just might take 1095 episodes… currently and on going. Yes it is longer than bleach as well as almost any other anime besides a relatively short list.

Season 2 is in pre-production and casting currently, with an accellerated production schedule. The first season covers most of the first saga, with only the coda left off, which will be a part of season 2, as it largely functions as a bridge getween the sagas and could have been included with either season.

Accelerated schedule? What does it mean? More than 6 months passed and they still in preproduction stage. I bet we will wait more than a year from now for season 2. Which is sad, because at this rate they will not go far into the story.

It has been renewed for Season 2 like two weeks after its release. Also the first season covers the whole East Blue Saga (1st saga out of 10 sagas in the manga. The manga currently is in its final saga)

Season one covers almost 100 chapters from the manga but for one piece its just the prologue (its on chapter 1108 and still running weekly)

This shows gets a second season which will be filmed in the second half of 2024. So we have to wait at least until the second half of 2025 for the release because it will have a long post production considering how many effects are needed.

Season 1 covers nearly the entire East Blue Saga. It doesn't include Logue Town which will be in the first episode of the Season or the Baroque Works Saga. Also, this is actually not a world of pirates. The narrator should have said "This is the Great Pirate Era!" Most people aren't pirates.

So, for the questions that I can definitely answer without spoiling: Pirates are criminals. That's why they're labeled as pirates by the government. Pirates do not make up most of the population, but the world is designed to produce a lot of pirates. As a correlation, most ppl, esp normal ppl, hate pirates bc of the criminal stuff they do that make them pirates. Coby does hate/fear Alvida more than Luffy, who's done nothing to him, even tho he states he's a pirate. You could argue that Coby might not perceive Luffy as a pirate at the moment, esp as he isn't technically considered a pirate/criminal yet. The world of OP is big. Bounties and pirate deaths basically work the same way they do irl. News just travel a bit differently tho. Pirate hunter is not a pirate, technically. Correct, he was not a good marine. Happens a lot with nepotism. Yes, there will be a season 2. It's been more in line with the manga over the anime. Honestly, most of your questions lean too much into spoiler territory to answer. It'll either be answered in the series later or it's going to be part of the whole series spoilers.

This live action adaptation is a treasure in itself if you think about it. A great show & as i said adaptation & bringing in new fans to also potentially watch the anine if they haven't before. A real life........... ONE PIECE

As someone who is current with the manga for about 14 years at this point, and I think that applies for many of us, it's easy to forget how much this subverts expectations time and time again, or establishes not to judge a book by it's cover. almost everything else I could mention has been already been said in other comments, so I leave it at that ;) oh, that comment about the "episode volume" referring to bleach was very funny for me (not trying to be derogative to you or bleach, it just tickled me)

One Piece is long. Like long long. But its not long because the writer is milking it, he has been drawing one chapter every week for the past 25 years. Im sure he would love to retire haha. Its long because it needs to be in order for it to be a story of this caliber.
