The "O" at the beginning of the opening is an Enso, a common symbol in Japanese black ink brush painting. It signifies strength, being whole, or enlightenment. Sometimes it stands in for the moon in paintings as well.

The scene, I've rewatched, was the fight with Buggy. They've picked an excellent actor for this. His facial expressions and his laugh are great. I also liked the dark tone of this episode in general. And there are already compilations of pirates tearing up their bounty posters. That's also rewatchable.

After binging the Live Action, I am so glad that the show writers put all their heart into their work. Just look at Mihawk! Buggy, Garp, Zeff, Arlong, etc. I feel like the side characters (in some way) are just as important as the straw hats in this adaption. We eating well, boys and girls.

Ranks in the Marines work as unofficial powerscaling and he's above Akainu; I'm just baffled why Oda has never even mentioned anything about him.

Hi Sawyer, about what you said at 7:35 that if Oda could go back in time and start the series from scratch he'd involve Garp and Coby a lot more, I think this isn't the case. Steve Maeda said in an interview on ScreenRant's YT channel that one of the things Oda was initially "gunshy" about and had to be persuaded of was the inclusion of making Garp a more present character in the beginning. So I think the changes in the live action are a mixed bag of stuff Oda may have been perfectly happy to change with hindsight and stuff he was more apprehensive about but had to be convinced of, since I am sure many of these changes were done to fit the live action medium as well.

Perhaps but regardless how they did it, what's important for me at least is that the story flows so well. I don't even remember the early arcs of One PIece, watched those more than 10 years ago, but watching the LA now, I didn't feel like anything is missing. Some changes I really liked actually. And even though I haven't read the manga, I was never a fan of Toei's pacing of One Piece. I think the LA pacing is probably better than the anime in many ways. (Except of course the fact, that this kinda omits one of the most unique traits of One PIece and it's this kind of bonding you get with the crew over so many episodes. But has it's downsides in the fact there's a looot of filler content in the episodes) Overall I think for an LA its a very good pacing, cause nobody is going to sit through Idle moments so effectively as if watching the anime for example.)

​@@_eRuDiT0_ Why though? I actually don't see how it hinders the plot in any way. One Piece is a big story and a big world. Rearranging some elements is not necessarily a bad thing. It gets people hooked in earlier. There's no need to wait 300 episodes to find out that Garp is Luffy's grandpa. We also get to see Koby's development. I get that many people are upset we get the marines instead of other things, but in the end they are running with what's the easiest to bring to screen. I found it alright. Loving Garp's actor.

@@TheSLashera The chemistry between the cast is non-existent. This is mainly due to the lack of screen time. This screen time was wasted on the likes of Garp and Koby. I recently saw an interview with Steven maeda where he stated that Oda did not want the garp and Koby scenes in the live action because of this. Apparently they had to convince him to the best if their abilities. So looks like Oda was also right to have doubts. Also, further down the season, there will most likely be further deviations from the source material as they've already ignored some of it for no reason. The presence of garp and Koby was completely unnecessary and changed the story hugely by making their meeting with straw hats too early. It impacted heavily on the companionship between the straw hats. For instance, usopp and luffy were "best friends" after one scene, where they hardly talked about anything. And it felt like sanji was just waiting to join any random Crew to leave. Garps character was also diminished. He is endgame level and he was quite literally made to look like mihawks bitch. Not to mention the ridiculousness that garp would call the world's greatest swordsman just to get luffy, when he didn't even have a bounty, when the actual garp would have just gone himself. Also with the actors side if things, generally all the actors in this live action were very poor, and unbelievable with the Delivery of the sentences. Garp was also made to look like an absolute psycho when he is more easygoing and nonchalant. Garp was terribly casted. He looks nothing like garp and is SCOTTISH. He should not have been Scottish, he should have a Hispanic descent to look like luffy, his grandson who he is BLOOD-RELATED to. They should have told him to use a Spanish accent. So to say he is luffy's grandpa is almost laughable. And the cast of Dragon was announced and he also looks nothing like garp, who is his father. Absolutely terrible casting. Terrible.

I binged all 8 episode and I really liked it. If any part I would rewatch its the part in episode 1 when Luffy slaps the daylights out of Koby and casually sits back down 😂. The Sanji/Zeff stuff hit me when it shouldn't have 😢. I ABSOLUTELY loved the the expanded Garp stuff and they didn't wait for a potential Water 7 to get there. The Kuro stuff felt like a horror movie....until he started moving fast then it became hilarious.

since the source material is so good and they were fairly true to it, its a good show aswell. i can understand why they cut octa, he is way to expensive. but wouldve been cool to see one two jango so usopp had someone to fight in the syrup village episodes. but all in all i loved it. its good that they embraced the goofiness of the manga/anime and they actually made it work in live action. east blue saga in the manga is almost flawless in my opinion so revisiting it was a treat. and i cant wait for smoker :3

My top rewatchable moments were actually a lot of character interactions that I found quite endearing. 1. Nami and Kaya becoming friends after Nami tried to steal from Kaya 2. Nami and Zoro's drinking game 3. Nami staying in Baratie to watch Zoro's duel 4. Zeff smiling after learning Sanji fed a hungry Gin 5. Mihawk's introduction 6. Shanks passing the Straw Hat to Luffy

The scene taking place in that tiny shack actually made the promise feel more private and special between them. Luffy vowing to surpass Shanks while Shank's ship was in the background worked pretty well.

I think the live action has a few good scenes to rewatch. One of them has to be Zoro's stair fight at Syrup Village. That was choreographed so good.

I think my biggest issue with the live action was that they did a pretty bad job of "show, not tell". Luffy kept saying that he's "not like the other pirates" (pick-me-pirate lol) but the character moments that defined him as such were either completely removed or changed to fit the running time of each episode such as him making sure to salvage ChouChou's owner's pet shop as much as possible and regretting getting it destroyed. That was his main motivation to fight Buggy. Manga Luffy never had to say that he was different from the other pirates because we could see that in his actions which is also what made both the viewers and the other Strawhats admire him so much.

on another video about the new openings I learned that the Japanese word for friend. Nakama uses the words inside (Naka) and circle (ma) in its kanji. So all the characters being inside all the circle shaped objects is really nice visual storytelling

I feel like Sentomaru having the “greatest” defensive Haki in the world is more of a self claim, as it’s not like it’s really proven all that great and no one has really referenced it either. Or it could be that while his defensive Haki is amazing, his personal durability simply doesn’t stack up to the likes of top tier characters, like the difference between having super high defense and low hp vs high defense AND hp in Pokémon.

Going off Kizaru, it'll make sense that he'll train his Armament to a point that it'll match a conquerors user. Because me personally Kizaru doesn't have conquerors and because of that he needs to compensate that. So by doing that, train your Armament and because he's a df user and he can use that to his advantage as well.

I pray we don't get any big name actors on this show! The budget per episode is apparently already bigger then stranger things season 1 and game of thrones season 1!! So the last thing we want is a situation where wages are too high and they have to make cuts in quality or cancel it all together like it happens in other shows!
