Let’s see how everything turns out, I think Shanks is so successful right now because everybody ist testing new decks and he is the easiest leader to play out of the new ones from 09. But other than that it seems like it will be a diverse meta and that Blackbeard will take the longest to find out

Katakuri is hard for shanks. His issue is b/y luffy hard counters Katakuri and zoro and kalgara swarms

Just directly comparing Ace, Marco, and Ed Newgate as whitebeard shells, Newgate has the least tops in the jp meta for 8 and 8.5. Why is he so much higher than them on the tier list? I feel like it is very clear that Marco is the strongest leader of them right now. Maybe a Whitebeard decks cross comparison would be a cool video. I would watch it.

I mean I have Newgate and Marco as the same tier, they had both at most only taken down Flagships, which are just large-scale Locals over there. I like Marco better than Newgate, I just think that the only reason, or at least the main reason Marco had the representation it had was because of the new ST15 support and it seems like a really fun Leader to play and take to locals. I don't understand the Ace at all, but like I said, I may have to check it out again soon.

@@Vvulfrik I've been testing Marco a ton on the sim and agree with this assessment. The St15 stuff is nice for Newgate, but so much better in Marco. In 08 Newgate just ends up being better because he can focus solely on being aggressive instead of also trying to be a control/stall deck, which is what Marco wants to do imo.

I think pluffy gonna be a menace. His only real problem was, that he had no endgame witouth losing don advantage. With Linlin and 9c Luffy he legit is a beast in Turn 5 dropping them back to back. You need to go wide, kid, queen or magellan. You need pressure in this turn to deny dropping 9c zoro or any other boss monster: 9c Luffy. You have a stable good board: 9c Linlin. He has good diversity and with mr.2, ms all sunday or paulie you have pretty good ramp. Also black is no problem anymore, bcs Lucci stage is gone so he cant ko everyturn 2 chars and you outtempo him hard.

Post 8.5 ST decks, Marco instantly becomes Tier 1. Im not sure your not giving him enough credit, the 7c newgate and the the 5c rush ace verrrryy much bolster the foundation of Marcos engine.

Based on the most current results on a local level in japan shanks is doing great. I knew that he would be much better that most people thought, his leader skill sounds quite underwhelming but is really annoying to deal with, your opponent safes 1k counter basically for every attack you do. In addition with the other cards (ben beckman that thrashes, shanks 1drop searcher, 12c rush -1k shanks etc.) he has the potential to be the next, really decent mono red leader since a long time.

The thing Red Ace has going for him is Rush, paired with an extreme threat for every 4 life leaders because of the kill and double attack potential that comes with flame Emperor. But with OP08.5 meta, we monstly have 5 life leaders, which is why ranking him at the bottom of sleeper makes total sense to me. Ace does get another boost with the ST15 and the new 5c Ace which is just like the 7c Ace double searchable though Izo and Mask Duce. Since Ace's leader effect is so generic, he can also be more of a toolbox leader who is flexible with the cards within his deck. For example, 10c OP06 Shanks is a must-have for almost any ace player. But u could also run 9c Whitebeard, 8c Dragon, or 8c Rayleigh. He will also most definitely run 2 of the new Gold Roger SEC just to counter the blackbeard blockers

Im currently playing an rp uta redhair pirates film hybrid deck with max ramp built in, its ridiculous. kind of winning every single match against shanks because rp uta gets out those 10c shanks much quicker. my lady actually became good in op9, its crazy 😂 edit: not meaning she can be called * meta * or anything but shes definive top of sleeper, somewhat around the end of competitive. maybe better than yamato and perona

the luffy leader is actually nuts that ramp ether turns into bigger attacks ether holding up your defense event that is a 1 cost 4 k and draw 2 or that don often is one extra character that can be played that turn the deck has so much ramp aggro and draw power even the control is decent sense you get a new event that almost like the decks jet pistal but it activates leader eff plus the sanji that has rush and taps a decent sized character im so exited for that leader like every card in your deck actives leader eff so much synergy

Seen enough enel vs Blackbeard testing already to say BB isnt that great vs it. Unless someone finds a midgame for BB the deck doesnt have enough to presure kill enel. And Enel will just drop 8 cost 9 cost and 10 cost cards even if they are vanilla BB doesnt have the removal for it right now.

I think the prevalence of red decks using with the rush gol d Roger will completely gut BY Luffy. Not being able to block a 10 drop rush when you have zero life, there is no way you survive that along with swinging with the rest of your board. Combined with how blackbeard also breaks his deck.

definetelly will be playing shanks and sanji on 09, but Marco is definetelly something I will give a shot, his effect along with op09 beckmann from shanks support list is going to be insane for board control, you essentially trash (no K.O, not botton deck, you TRASH) anything 9k and bellow at 8 cost. Another deck I also think will get people with a low guard is B/R Sabo, my friend assembled a list that is going to be nightmare fuel for anyone with hopes of stabilishing boards that is not blue.

You should prob just drop black yellow luffy way down he gets dumbster fired by black beard leader eff stops luffy from taking his own life and he can’t activate gecko Moria and he can just pop the luffy Sr that takes life so he has no hope of leader eff than kill them when you drop big dudes

I don‘t get it, why is shanks effect worded so weirdly. Why does it say that the effect can be activated on the opponents attack, why isn‘t it just a (once per turn) (on your opponent‘s attack)?

From what I understand it is worded in this way so that you aren't forced to use it on your Opponents first attack of the turn (like how Sugar is)

@@Vvulfrik sugar‘s effect doesn‘t activate on the opponent‘s attack, but instead when the opponent plays a character. But for example the purple 8 cost crocodile has a „on your opponent‘s attack“ effect and I play it very often on the sim and it let‘s me choose on which attack to use the effect, i‘m not forced to use it on the first attack. That‘s why I really don‘t understand why the shanks is worded this way Edit: nvm i found the answer, thank you :)
