For the record, Luffy is more or less immune to all physical damage that isn't being cut or pierced. So he could literally be stretched for miles and not really feel anything. Buggy is the vice versa. You can cut him up indefinitely and it won't matter, but he still gets hurt by blunt force.

Oh my god, *THIS* is what we One Piece fans just *LOVE* this is like our biggest addiction, when newcomers to One Piece react to the *insanity* of this world, like with experiencing Buggy's fruit for the first time while having the emotional moments that hit home hard. And just so you know, Buggy and Luffy's Devil fruits? Those are just the tips of the iceberg of the *endless* creativity of Eichiro Oda.

Shanks doesn't have any DF powers. The live action doesn't show it, but in the anime and manga we see him swim to rescue Luffy, which would be impossible if he had eaten a DF. What Shanks has is another part of the One Piece world's power system, but it's not something that gets explored until way later.

The character of Buggy is so well played by this actor (he was in the last seasons of Agent's of Shield for example). In season 2 (or if you watch the anime) you gonna learn more on the Devil fruit and an another kind of Power. Shanks could find Luffy in the water if he had a Devil fruit, he will lost all his power to bring Luffy out the sea water. ;)
