Tips for peeling the green bananas without getting that milky stain from the skin on your hand:- Coat your hands with a little cooking oil. Of course you can also leave them for awhile in hot water before peeling. Nuff Said. Njoy.

I does boil green figs and ochro and put it on the side of everything I cook. Ty for the recipe 😋. Sometimes I will boil it and fry it up with some onion, garlic, tomatoes and butter. I love meh iron

Dat look real bess. I'da ress it on some basmati rice. I have ah green fig grouse I dunno if Baidawi could help wit, tho. I grow up calling dis ting green fig to de extent where is jus second nature at dis point to call it dat and not refer to it as just "fig". De issue arose because it was pointed out to me (quite condescendingly haha) dat at some point it does ripe, so is just fig. I see somebody else in de comments say dey have green fig plant in dey yard, and dat is de crux of de issue, cuz I does say de same ting only for people to tell me is not ah green fig plant, is just fig. Now, okay, I understand dat completely. But my ting is, as a native of Trini, is jus ah colloquialism nah; like, daiz just wha we grow up sayin. So, what I need clear up is, cuz I feel you is ah expert: is ah normal ting for Trinis to say dey have green fig plant in dey yard, ent? Cuz, I jus feel like we must know what we mean by dat as Trinis. Like, we wouldn't go in de market and aks for chives, we go aks for "sive". De odder ting is, do people eat dis particular fig variety when it ripe? Cuz, I not accustomed to eating it ripe, but I not sure if dis is a ting Trinis does do. Also, I have green fig in my yard, and breadfruit, too, so if there is a eatahfood food drive for these items I am more than willing to give when it have.

Lol I grew up saying "fig tree" didn't even specify it as "green" the green was understood. So when we say "ah have ah fig tree dey" is green fig we referring to 😂 But when talking about the fruit we would specify green fig because when you just say "fig" you could be referring to gros michel or silk... I never grew up saying "banana"... They were all fig. Even when I go to the market to buy bananas I still ask "how yuh selling de fig?" 😂

There are some food banks operating, and if you have green figs, feel free to donate to them. There is one that I know of in Pleasantville, and I'm sure there are others. I am certain they would be appreciative of getting and sharing green figs with those in their communities.

You call banana "figs"? Green bananas is a staple in Jamaican cooking. We use it like potatoes.
