When we steak the meatballs we use butter instead of oil in Sweden. You can use vegan butter if you want to ((:

I don’t get why people are triggered by the name of this dish. There is a reason why there are quotations around the word meatball. You don’t have to be vegan to appreciate or try vegan dishes. I’m not vegan but I do like a lot of foods that are vegan. Eat what you want and cook how you want.
@CrimsonStigmata6 жыл бұрын
Jo not specifically. There were more than one persons who seemed to be triggered. I’m just tired when people get triggered by anything vegan that is suppose to be some kind of meat substitute. Let people call their food whatever they want. They are the one eating it not you.

To anyone who counters the concept of being vegan with "Well, plants have feelings too", please know that this is part of the reason why I want to become fully vegan (transitioning vegetarian here). I like animals, and I personally don't want to kill them for sustenance. But plants, on the other hand... I want them to suffer. I want every legume, leaf and sprout to look on with devastation as I brutally devour their comrades, while knowing the horror of being next. I will show no plant any shred of mercy. I'm coming for them all.

Obviously, the title says "Vegan," so when you clicked on the video and saw quotations around meatballs, why would you think there would even be a hint of meat or anything animal-related? Also, why say "Yuck" and rude things about vegans as a meat-eater when you purposely clicked on a vegan video?

James Wright. The thing is, humans have evolved eating ALL sorts of things. Our bodies are beautifully adept at rearranging amino acids. We are what we eat, but only in the broadest sense because we’re blessed with some pretty sophisticated chemistry. Mother Nature is tolerant of human dietary foibles and nobody, children included, will die from a well-executed vegan diet.
@jameswright18796 жыл бұрын
Miranda Mom certainly not, people who eat microwaveable food everyday will not die in a matter of weeks and will probably live to what would be considered old, but in no way is it healthy. A balanced diet of everything we need is the ultimate healthy diet, much like the hunter gatherers of the past.

I’m not vegan.... but gotta admit that looked pretty good.😋
@jameswright18796 жыл бұрын
tinaloveseddie so every meal you eat has meat in it? I sometimes have food that happens to have no meat in it, I don't classify the meal as vegetarian, it's just a meal that has no meat in it. I thoroughly enjoy fried mushroom balls, just because I eat meat (natural diet), I don't need to classify my food when it has no meat in it. This isn't a 'vegan' recipe, it's a 'how to make mushroom balls' recipe. Vegetables don't belong to vegans, they belong to meat eaters as something to compliment meat as that is a balanced diet (the healthiest diet). Don't allow yourself to think vegetables belong to vegans, far from it.
@tinaloveseddie6 жыл бұрын
James Wright Okayyy... so no I don’t eat meat with every meal. Not a fan of chicken. I prefer fish or shrimp.🍤
@jameswright18796 жыл бұрын
tinaloveseddie just because you eat meat you don't need to act as though a meal without meat may be a guilty pleasure i.e " I'm not a vegan...I must admit it looks pretty good", meat eating humans (which is what our bodies are designed to consume), very often eat meals without meat because as omnivores, we eat a bit of everything to be at our healthiest. Please, don't allow these 'trendy' vegan characters to think that eating meals without meat is something new, it's perfectly natural to have a balanced diet. The way people go on as though an all vegetable meal is a guilty pleasure makes perfectly natural omnivorous sound like meat is consumed with everything for example Cornflakes with bacon, carrot cake with chicken strips and so on.

So I actually made this! The "meatballs" sort of, um, fell apart. (Might be because there's no egg / egg substitute to bind them?) So it really became "meat" sauce with pasta. Either way, still pretty tasty! My suggestion to anyone trying this. Add egg (if you're not actually vegan) or egg substitute. Another possibility is to freeze/refridge the meatballs for a few hours to harden them up a bit.

Since I can’t review on the Tasty site without being forced to get their app, here’s my review. 1 minute on each of 2 sides was really not enough for the meatballs, but even when frying longer and on all 4 sides, the bottom would stick to the pan and detach from the body of the meatball, so it wasn’t getting cooked through either way. After adding the ingredients, no matter how delicate I was with my stirring, all the meatballs fell apart. It also had to cook longer than indicated for the pasta to reach desired doneness. The flavor was pretty average, almost bland, but edible at first. However, as reheated leftovers, this was pretty much inedible. If the flavors were good, which should not have been affected so much by the meatballs falling apart, then I would totally have tried making this again and tweaking it. If I did make this again, I would cook the meatballs separately and put them aside, only adding them at the end of cooking, like you would for regular spaghetti and meatballs. Overall this is a lot of effort and resources for nothing. I can’t recommend it, but I know a lot of vegans are happy with bland food, so this may be worthwhile for them. Regardless, thank you for sharing! ^_^

Just finished making this recipe. It tastes great but next time I think ill use the air fryer or oven to cook the veggie balls. And then that you had pasta to the meatballs was just worse. If you’re going to make “Swedish meatballs” then don’t do them like that. Instead of pasta you have potatoes or mushed potatoes.
