Ive used mine on the farm, great for coyotes and snakes , but i have used it to dispatch cows for butchering. Like any caliber gun its all about shot placement. I really love mine. and plan on buying one for my wife for defense. Mine has a 6 inch barrel ill buy her the bar keep !

Whenever the two employees did not need to rework or repair a 22LR pistol they would work on big bore pistols. Taurus also purchased Rossi and did little with centerfire pistols but I did read something about some newer models were released.

I have one with an American flag on the grips.my cylinder was a hair out of time and was shaving bullets on the right side. Took it back to my gun dealer and Heritage replaced the cylinder. Shoots fine now. I do keep an eye on the screws and pins on all my guns. The rear screws did back off about 1/2 a turn. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. They also have a lifetime warranty

The Rough Rider one I purchased brand new had a manufacturing defect in the positioning of the 22 lr cylinder ratchet so that doesn't it lock the cylinder in place when cocking the hammer (The 4th click never happens). The cylinder can easily be rotated out of battery enough to cause the bullet to impact the edge of the barrel, throwing some lead sideways and potentially breaking the frame. Taurus customer service has been giving me the runaround about honoring the 1 year manufacturing defect warranty despite having the receipt from the hardware store clearly showing what I purchased and when. Not honoring their warranty for a dangerously defective $30 retail part that is available for separate purchase on their website is a sign of a poorly managed company. If one of these blows up in your hand, this is potentially the reason, and they have been made aware.

I have two RR’s. My wife bought me one, 1 st edition version, over 25 years ago, still works great. I went to a 6 Shooter Gun Show 2 years ago and bought the RR, 12 shot Lr/wmr version for my collection. Will be glad when weather permits to get out and shot some cans, paper and stuff. The FIRST hammer click is the SAFETY, the tab is the second and mainly to prevent damage from dry firing.

I have one i bought used off an auction site. Called heritage to ask the date from the serial number. That was 2 years ago. Frond it was from rhe mid 90's don't remember what year. Other then the screw That found the injection rod was backwards. Thing has worked perfectly. Thing is 24 years old give or take a couple.

Nice look at a fun gun. I just recently purchased the buffalo nickel 22Mag cylinder for my RR and already had the buffalo nickel grips, so most likely will use it in conjunction with my Ruger 10/22 collection as a combo system. 22lr out of a rifle has mostly the same velocity as 22Mag out of the 6" revolver. I got the 6.5" barrel because I wanted to use primarily .22 WMR in it. Magnum ammo is not as effective out of a short barrel, at that point you may as well just use .22 LR. The extra energy is wasted out the barrel as noise instead of propelling the bullet.

There is a video here comparing different length barrel rough riders with a chronograph and both ammo types, results showed that actually the 4.something inch barrel gave just slightly higher velocity. Longer barrel added nothing but more resistance for the round to get out of the barrel, because of the cylinder gap extra barrel length doesn't help. 22wmr does give a benefit but not as much as in a rifle, because all the powder doesn't have a chance to ignite before the round leaves the barrel. Shoot something up close with it and you'll see unburnt power all over what you were shooting at with both ammo types.

Had a gun store tell me he quit selling heritage because of problems and sending the gun back took 6 months to fix and return, I bought a ruger wrangler love it, I trust ruger. Also was told Taurus makes heritage.

Ruger has put up a solid product into this budget-SA revolver market, but it remains a very limited contender, since the Wrangler is only available in one caliber, grip style, and barrel length.

The only problem that I've have with mine concerns the ejector rod assembly. The screw that holds the housing to the barrel came loose. It was a simple fix with a drop of Locktite on the screw.

There is more than one screw that may need Loctite according to another channel. My 9 round model does not index properly to allow rod to eject case. I need to turn the cylinder an extra ~ 1/16th of an inch. Others have reported the issue with their 9 round. One KZbin channel host shows that his 9 round does index properly. One person responded that their 6 round does not index properly. One person said Heritage did not consider it to be a warranty issue.

It isn't that hard to make something out of aluminum. I've made parts for an old 8 track player with no more than a hack saw, drill, and a file. I believe if I ever buy a Heritage Rough Rider the first thing I would do is to remove the tab on the ejector rod so I could trace it out on a piece of aluminum and start making a aluminum tab for my Rough Rider. You can purchase small sticks of aluminum very reasonable at TSC.

I bought a RR convertable. After 200 rounds i noticed what looked like cutting torch marks in frame on each side of barell. They stood behind warranty, replacing frame and rebuilding gun. Even showing old frame to prove it was not reused. 2 years later i went to go shooting and noticed frame screws on bottom were loose, i retightened 2, the 3rd screwhead snapped off. Sold ot and got a ruger single six

I'm a big fan of plinking on the cheap these days. So funny, I have a new Barkeep, and just got a Rough Rider with the bird eye grips, but it didn't come with the mag cylinder. I reflexively, and with GREAT URGENCY, went to order the mag cylinder. And then I stopped and wondered why. lol Suffice to say, I stopped. Well...I did order me some white pearl grips. 🤣 My collection, is being reduced to my .22s, 12ga, and 9mm when we're splurging. Great video. You definitely know your way around firearms.

But they're quick to change out, I can only shoot one a time, and lastly, I always bring several other guns to the range. Best thing about the .22s is the cost of the ammo, and they're just plain fun to handle. They led me right into my beloved 38 special and .45 SAs.

You weren’t paying attention when he was talking about the ejector rod . They are plastic and the end that you push with your finger breaks off. 😉. Pretty common with that pistol if you let it snap back.

Thanks for the video. I have stockpiled for my Mossberg 702 Plinkster .22 rifle about 1,100 rounds of .22 LR ammunition. I was thinking i need to get a pistol to help eat that ammo before it goes bad. How accurate would you say that revolver is? I like to target shoot to challenge myself. I wish there was a model with adjustable sights. I am not concerned about hysterical accuracy.

The ammo should stay good for quite some time with proper storage. But yes this would be a great addition to any persons gun collection. Cheap and fun for whatever you plan to do with it. For what the sights are, the gun is fairly accurate. Within 25 yards with a quick rest, I’ve had good results with mine even with the not non-adjustable sights. I’ve painted the front post white on mine which helps me pick up targets a bit easier. Go for it and thanks for watching!

@@Bill23799 Yep Dunham Sports is where I picked up mine a few years ago on sale. Heritage will give you the coupon in the box to buy an extra cylinder. Should work with any of the rough rider models. I have the cylinder but rarely ever shoot 22wmr. For the small price it’s kinda a nice feature to be able to. I like convertible style revolvers. Being able to have options with one gun is a great feature.

I live on a low disability income so there is not much left after paying bills. I have been looking at reviews of the Rough Rider and it seems almost all is positive but there are a few who say they have had problems right out of the box with breaking springs or not firing all ammo. I know that all .22LR is not created equal.All of my .22LR ammunition is either CCI Blazer or Federal. I have not had problems with any misfires using this ammo with my Mossberg 702 Plinkster. Have you had any issues with your Rough Rider?

I start new shooters out on it and then change out to the mag and then go to 9mm. They all enjoy the hell out of it and it is pretty accurate to.

This is the first of two dozen or more videos I have watched on the Heritage revolvers where someone said the ejector part broke. So I doubt it is a common problem for those that release it slowly. I wonder if a file is available for doing a 3D printout of the part.

I took white model paint, and put dot's on the sights. Easy to see them now.

$99 omg.. in canada they go for $300-500 in 2022.. that was before our government froze/ban all handguns.. now we Canadians can not get them anymore.., luckily i bought two of these before our law changed in October 2022.. as of 2022 in canada you are still allowed to use them at the range, but you can't sell or pass it to anymore even if you about to pass,,, which is sad for our younger generation who won't be able to buy even those cheap revolvers.. and in canada if the police see you shooting at an animal (pests racoon or whatever) with a legit handgun, you loose all your legit guns forever, and go to jail with a nice lifetime criminal record. Here we can only use handguns at the range whichnusually cost $400 a year tombe a member.

I tell you this either you locktite it or you carry a screwdriver (see video) with it. It may tighten up in time, I'm at about 300 rounds. I'm going to try just tightening it for a couple thousand rounds before I put some blue on it.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I owned two Single Six revolvers before buying a Rough Rider. If the first of those were as accurate as my Rough Rider is, I'd have not tried again with a second one, and if that had been as accurate as my Rough Rider is, I'd not be using a Rough Rider now. Even so, I scored a deal on a stainless Single Six that I need like an extra body orifice and put it on layaway, so when it is also not as accurate as my Rough Rider is, I should at least be able to "flip it" and make a few bucks. It might surprise me, though. I hope it does. The Single Six is something I WANT to like but I've never had my hands on a New Model Single Six that was accurate enough to have any fun with. So the odds seem not to be in my favor. I would not even consider buying a Wrangler,

LOL! Duck Dynasty? Oh lord give me a break. Sorry, I hate "reality TV." It's anything but reality. What I love is my Heritage revolver. Every gun safe should include a .22 of some sort. I wanted a Ruger Single Six, but couldn't find one that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Took a chance on the Heritage and I'm happy I did.

My RR developed a timing issue out of nowhere! First shot always fires but after that it's hit and miss. I will shoot everytime if I manually seat the cylinder in place😢

Bought one miss fires one or two rounds every cylinder tried all brands of ammo thought about sending it back but decided it just not worth the trouble I won't buy another heritage anything
