Jeven, I have considered adding a 360 camera to my kit. I like the all-in-one design of the X3. Still, the 1" sensors seem like the trump card. I have a YT channel with over 1100 videos posted over the last 13 years and would like to add some interest by getting out with a 360 camera. I am most drawn to the "record everything and reframe later" aspect. Thanks, Ron Paulk

Great first look at the new Insta360 One RS, another amazing product by that company, they just keep knocking it out of the park with new releases. But 360 video still seems like such a niche market, and may never catch on with the bigger audience. Great video Jeven, and thanks for sharing.

Good to see the DJI receiver fits in the stitch line of the 1" 360, I was worried about how it would work with the One X2. I'm confused about the 6k comment and 1080p comment. The action 2 is 4k, so which footage is more clear in usual sunlight? Does this insta 6k video camera shoot in a regular non 360 warped mode (it looks like there is, but I am watching it on a tiny phone screen and not a tv)? Thanks

Hi Jeven, thank you for the explaination! Are you sure that you can do reframing with a maximum resoIution of 1920x1080? Not more? I have a insta360 ONE R since some years, i am happy with it but i am hoping for more resolution. I can only export reframed videos with 1920x1080, so i was hoping that the 1-inch 360 mod can do more :-(. 1920x1080 is a bit few when combining it together in videos with footages from other cameras like a GoPro, where i film with 2,7k or even 4k. Thank you for the introduction of the new camera!

Hi Jeven… Thank for all your work. I see you're using the DJI Mic on the bracket. Are there any problems with the receiver staying on the bracket? I had the Ulanzi PT-20 for my X3, but the DJI wouldn't have a firm grip. The rode was okay, but I prefer my DJI mic. Again, thank you for ALL the videos you put out. You are extremely helpful!

I really don't get the microphone handle, all you need is a voice recorder and a plug in microphone and then sync the sound in post. Heaps cheaper and more convenient. I hardly plug microphones into cameras any more.

One thing I'm seeing right out the gate is extreme oversharpening. If the resolution is so good, they shouldn't need to sharpen it digitally. This is a problem I see with a lot of phones, drones, and action cameras. Companies should give us the option to have the footage as untouched as possible, I.E. a log or RAW shooting mode, or at the very least, a flat color profile without any in camera sharpening. Other than that it looks good. Not something I'd buy, but definitely a good tool for the people who need it.

You can set the amount of digital sharpening in multiple steps and also select a less saturated color profile.

Amazing where 360 cameras are going. Just when I told myself I don't really need a 360 camera. Quick question, I believe when you export it will only be 1080p? Is this correct? Does upscaling footage to 4K help with this when you export your final video? How would the exported quality compare to something like a gopro that will give 4K footage straight?

Even though Insta360 has some good camera but their 360 footages are always bad in quality if we compare it with GoPro, no matter I export in 4k its still dark, pixelated and not upto the mark

Can you charge only battery by itself using a cable or do you have to charge through RS core which mean you must connect RS core and battery first then connect cable to RS core to charge? nice review, however as a 360 motovlogger myself, I been using one x2 for long time, been hopeing insta360 will annouce one x2's next generation product, but after watching lots of review videos , I have to say insta360 one rs 1 inch is NOT for motovloging, insta360 even officially mentioned it on their purchasing page, that this camera is not for action or high speed, and it can not be used with fully extended selfie stick ( due to its weight I guess). Anyway this 1 inch is really a new era for 360 video making, for me I guess I will keep on waiting for " One X3".

Just get a voice note taker, a compatible mic and sync it in post. I hardly plug mics into camera these days. Far more convenient than wireless or long leads.

Great video but I don't trust insta360 anymore, totally unreliable and buggy firmware that they don't bother to fix. I bought into the 1" inch when it came out, it was super buggy and they had 1 firmware update in 1 year. The update removed very important features for me, and while it fixed some old bugs it introduced new ones. So I'm at the point where I had to use the old firmware in order to be able to change modes with the waterproof case on. Now is always a gamble when I press the shutter button not knowing if the image will actually come out properly. If they are unable to provide proper firmware updates at least they should open source it but no.. too much pride. I reported all these issues but nothing happened. So why would I buy again any of their cameras?

Might be a few frames off because its pre released firmware that I was using on this video. Theres always updates with these new cameras in the first few weeks that fix minor issues. I'll be testing this out more when I go to Alaska to film with it.
