As an antediluvian British Army Veteran, I am extremely proud of all our young soldiers. Okay, so some of the Troopers on duty at Horseguards can yell and barge their way through unruly crowds at times, but they are all highly professional soldiers and deserve to be treated as fellow human beings by the selfie-obsessed mobs. A ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ go a long way to make their duty a little more pleasant.

I'm sorry I won't be traveling to see these wonderful guards. I will have to be content to admire and respect them from a distance. As for their yelling, if people used common sense, the guards would not have to do that. I love seeing these idiots jump in terror when addressed to behave,

What a GREAT MAN! In the first step, THANK YOU was missing! In the second, I confess that tears came to my eyes, not out of pity, but for the gesture of this GREAT SOLDIER! It's good to feel as citizens Brits these men and women are respected! As for the lady who made that inappropriate gesture, let her think she made a big mistake!

If he wasn't a guard, you would probably see him taking toys to children in hospital. He has that level of beautiful kindness. I respect all the guard 100%, but every time I see the level of humanity this gentleman shows, I am left speechless.

@@danhudson4614 I don't really understand your point. The arm police are there to make sure that the life-guards do not have kill or injure any public member, not the other way around. Police are peace-keepers, whereas guards are to stop anyone from attacking the Monarch, at any cost.

I have read that this guards name is Ellis. He is an exceptional guard in how he handles himself with each situation. Those 2 different boys will have a great picture to remember their trip. I like watching this guard and what he might do in any situation he finds himself responding to. He demonstrates tremendous generosity of spirit towards children, the handicapped and the horses but he can be immensely intimidating, without saying a word, when it’s required. Kudos to this man.

I think it's the same Guard that kissed the horse and took a side step on two occasions to let them take a photo he such a kind and careing person but he can be stern when he has to be think they look so smart in there uniform his parents must be so proud x

Just one more thing of minor importance perhaps, but for me it means a lot! More than a thank you or something like that, the most important thing is respect for these men and women! I lost a friend who was only 19 when he returned from Afghanistan in a coffin! After 5 years it is still difficult to accept, but knowing many of these soldiers were present on battlefronts around the world they deserve all MY RESPECT!

Personally I have yet to see a guard out of line. Kindness is a personal choice and so is discipline given to rude tourist or citizens. The horse 🐴 guards, the police are very forgiving considering how much disrespect they receive.

No. One must not touch the guard. His moving aside and the look was enough to let her know she’d crossed the line. She tried for another photo. This time close, but not touching, and he obliged. I believe she realised her mistake and did apologise to him. No need for him to shout as he had made his point.
