This is why OSB stands alone from all the other anthology shows. This was the only series where the host interacts with the characters. Love Newland.
@one-step-beyond-19598 жыл бұрын
It must have been especially entertaining to watch these on their first run back in the 1950s . . . and see what Newland was going to come up with each week. As I've said elsewhere: what a charmed life he led . . .
@silvereagle20618 жыл бұрын
One-Step-Beyond It's a shame his attempted comeback in the 70s with "Next Step Beyond" didn't catch on, but anthology shows in America in the 70s had it rough whereas in the UK they flourished.

I used to watch these on broadcast TV back in the early 70s with mom. She loved a good paranormal mystery. It's a shame these shows got caught up in licensing red tape for so many years before they started releasing them on DVD. Still haven't seen all of them so thanks for posting this. Never seen this episode. One I remember part of but haven't seen since back then had to do with a glider that landed itself. Set during WWII If I'm remembering correctly.

@@dr.zarkhov9753 Hi!, I just saw one that fits that description of the glider and WWII: it's titled, "Reunion".

Donald Pleasance had such a presence, he was commanding, intense, he had delivery power. One Step Beyond is such an amazing show. I've loved Twilight Zone for 30 years & finding this show... Bless the people behind the KZbin channels like this one who give us the opportunity to watch these classics that aired before we were born & wouldn't find otherwise!!! 😘

If you ever come to London take a walk along Strand-on-the-Green by Kew Bridge and near the Bull's Head pub, overlooking the Thames is a house, also overlooking the Thames, with a blue plaque on the front, It says that the house was where Donald Pleasance used to live. I daresay he sank a few in the Bull's Head too.

In today's court setting, nobody cares about guilt OR innocence, they want and need convictions. There's big money in privatized prisons, problem is you NEED to fill them. Another HUGE problem, many today have no conscious in the courts, whatever their position. Hopefully you never have to find this out the HARD WAY.

Donald Pleasance was such an outstanding character actor. He played in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes, The Changing Of The Guard and also in the The Outer Limits, The Man With The Power. At the beginning of WWll, he was a conscientious objector but changed his mind after the London Blitz and joined the RAF. Pleasance was a radio operator, flying missions over Germany until his Lancaster bomber was shot down and he became a POW. Unlike his character in The Great Escape, he didn't teach bird watching but was popular for putting on musicals and plays.

One step beyond is no doubt a mind catching and wonderful tv show. But just a query that at the end of every episode there is a hint which makes the story move nearer to reality than entertainment. Also it leaves to audience to make their own judgement. But still whichever hint is given or the stories, do they really exist or experienced ?
