One Stroke Rose Face Painting Tutorial Instructions:
Avoid muddying up your one stroke colours by swiping a few times in the same direction,
and repeating in the other direction.
2. First, I like to create a petal shape, which will be the background petal for the rose.
Wiggle the brush slightly as you move it around, for a more organic effect.
3. Make sure the background petal is not too wet, then, starting on an angle, create an arc shape in the center.
Just below this, create a ‘U’ shape that will join up to create the rose bud
4. Use only the tip of your brush to create small petals on either side.
Taper off on the point to get a sharp line that ends in the darkest part of the bud.
5. Overlapping the background petal, start by using only the tip of your brush to sweep around,
gradually laying it flat and bringing it up to meet the background petal on the other side..
The aim is to partially cover the center bud with a sort of cone shape.
6. Overlap the background petal on the other side and create a petal shape that will end in the middle of the cone you've just made.
Repeat this a few more times as you work your way down the cone.
Don't forget to wiggle your brush slightly, and lift your brush onto its tip to end your petals in a sharp point.
7. I've made the bottom two petals join up to create one big circular petal.
This gives a rose that looks as though its in full bloom.
8. If you feel the need to, you can reload your brush and clean up any areas you feel like you missed.
You can also use the tip of your brush to add petal edges in any big empty spaces.
9. In a future tutorial I would like to go into various one stroke foliage techniques. For these particular leaves,
I am leading with the dark side of my brush and using a looping motion before tapering off into the leaf point.
10. As a final optional touch, you can load a round brush with white, and highlight some of the edges on your petals.Don't overdo it or you could ruin the effect.
11. Sprinkle your rose with glitter to finish it off.
12. Practice your brush control and you will be a pro in no time.
