well Ma’am the main character in this show who informs her proudly about the dowry was a gold digger 😊
@malinighosh18362 жыл бұрын
@@RakeshSharma-iy1fj actually no, her motive was not money, else she wouldn’t have sacrificed everything including her reputation by leaking a video. That could have gone anyway and the average Indian man would not marry a girl from their office whose video is leaked of them. Secondly if she was a gold digger she wouldn’t have been so headstrong about keeping her wedding company afloat. She would have sat at home and chilled on her husbands money. Thirdly compared to her character- which can only be limited to women of south Delhi/ south Mumbai -basically a very tiny percentage, in this country dowry transcends all classes and is much more rampant. Lastly, Your analysis of the character is one dimensional. She could have married any earning man and been like her sisters character in the show-not doing much. But her character revolves around “ambition” and women who will go to whatever lengths to get what they want. I’m not justifying her means though.

What I find really disheartening is that I hear commonly from men that they feel as if society doesn't care or listen to their issues, and to that end I am sympathetic. I understand it can feel very isolating to exist in society if you feel like nobody cares about you. It is equally disheartening though when some of those same men are incredibly closed-minded to the issues of women. It seems as though some men want the benefit of having their issues addressed without having to listen to the issues of others as well (although I'm not sure how conscious they are of this behavior). This is why I think feminism is necessary; there has to be some force that bridges the gap and works to address issues for everyone.

@@mayankshukla3912 A lot of you think feminism is hating men. It's about taking down patriarchy and it's oppressive norms. Even though men are the ones who benefit from patriarchy the most. They're still victimised to an extent. Patriarchy tells men that they shouldn't be vulnerable and show emotion. It uses misogyny to label those things as feminine. So when men get emotional or vulnerable they're criticised and made fun of. Told to be a man and not to act like a woman. That's toxic af for men. Because men end up bottling up their emotions. They have no where to seek help from. They don't know how to deal with their emotions. Hence the suicide stats. Patriarchy oppresses all of us. Some more than the others but yes, all of us. So men need to be feminists also for their own sake. And what do you mean by "keeping in control"

Well, if you earn 2x more than your wife and you think that it is so unfair, could you also please share 9 months for raising a kid. Like, let her grow one baby, and you grow the other baby and take all the pain, bleeding, vomiting, nausea, constipation, sleepless nights and quit job for a year at minimum as well. That's the only way it will be totally fair, isn't it? And what if I marry a man who earns equal to me? Then should I ask him to leave his parents and come live with mine? Though dowry is bad ofcourse. Likewise seeking a boy earning 3x, 4x or Nx than what a girl earns is also wrong. Seeking a boy with fat a fat pay check is wrong too. Go to any matrimonial site and you will see nearly 75% girls (or their family) would want someone who is earning atleast 2x of what girl is earning. So in all I think there should be equality. Quick question, in India are women treated equal to their male counterparts within the work place? Do they get paid the same as their male counterparts? Somehow I doubt it, therefore how are women expected to be able to match the same living wage as the men? Wasnt that the whole point of this scene, society patriarchal.

This point is not suitable here. Did you watched this episode he betrayed the girl he was always showing he is a simple ias officer his parents are very simple don’t wAnt anything . And at the time of barat his parents demanded 4 crorees then only marriage can happen. If a boy respected the women he is marrying he will never let his parents do this cheap act of asking huge amount of money. And theirs was love marriage. So your this comment is not suitable in such a strong message given in this scene .

It wasn’t exactly this dramatic, but i walked out of a potential relationship because of dowry. Nothing absolutely nothing justifies dowry. Its not about money, it’s about the sheer entitlement and audacity and condescension. No amount of riches justify dowry ladies. Nope the fuck outta those relations. Aint worth it one bit. Also its not just the boys fault. Sometimes girls parents also are equally glove in hand. I had to literally sit my family down and tell them why dowry was unjustified. Especially now, in these times, when women are expected to have a glorious education, earn as much if not more, manage work and household both, bear children, raise children, and look like an instagram model while doing it all.

Just a simple wedding followed by a luxurious honeymoon (that’s where we’d rather spend our money than a useless wedding) This dowry system is truly ridiculous and I had no idea it was such a big issue in India. My in laws never asked for it either. It’s important we discuss these things with our spouses before marriage than regret it afterwards. Now we’re debt free and happy 😊
