One Torch Tip

When brazing a sculpture like the one in this video, it is more efficient for me to use just one brazing tip. Rather than going back and forth from one tip to another. By adjusting the flame using the knobs on the torch handle the flame can be increased or decreased. This is especially helpful if you only have one or two brazing tips. Note that the regulator settings remain the same no matter what flame yo are using for brazing.

Thanks for the video George, interesting project you're working on, and there's always something to learn by just watching.

Thanks. I've done a number of those pieces. Very little material cost. Other than the frame, everything else is left over pieces of copper and brass.

Kudos on your techniques to increase productivity. One-off custom work is always tedious, albeit a bit less so with ingenuity added.

Thank you George for imparting your knowledge to the masses. I have learned much from your videos. I am curious what type of eye protection you recommend for braising.

Eye Protection: This is an individual choice and somewhat dependent on what type of work you are doing. I wear reading glasses with a flip up shade for small detail work. If the darkening lens is too dark then one can't see what they are doing. For most of my work the flame is small and not particularly bright. Not much different than the flame on a gas stove. If I am using the gasfluxer, then the flame is brighter and I will switch to a darker lens. I've been using an oxygen acetylene torch since 1967. My eyesight has deteriorated, but it more to do with age (82) than using the oxy/ace torch. Again, one must choose what is best for them.

when you do your butterfly antenna have you thought or tried folding a longer piece in half instead of brazing two together at the dob of bronze stage?

That sounds like a good idea, but I've tried that and it doesn't work for me.
