That's what I was going to say to my daughter when she told me, but she immediately turned and went to her room. I talked to her about it later that day, she said she was scared. I felt really bad that she didn't know me well enough to know that I'd be fine with it. That was a few years ago. We laugh about it now.
@seaislechick769 жыл бұрын
Based on my experience (and what I've heard a couple people say) "I already knew" is one of the worst things you can say. Maybe "I had a feeling" or "I wasn't going to assume anything" would be better but working up the courage to come out to someone and having them tell you they already knew is devastating
@mixtapebang9 жыл бұрын
Erin Burke It really depends on the person coming out and the person they're coming out to; my friends said "We already knew" and it was a huge relief (it felt like I didn't need to explain or say anything more). And I WISH my mom had said "I already knew"; it would've been nice and made me feel understood. So, it really depends on the person; for some, it could be the perfect thing to say.

Elijah Ewing Oh, I'm sorry about that. if you do decide to tell her, and she gets super pissed, just toss some quotes at her about how God loves everybody, how Jesus doesn't judge, or something like that. You could also tell her about a friend of yours that came out and their parents were super mean about it and blah blah blah. With my parents, they don't see the bad in themselves, but they do in other people, so you could maybe try that. Do you have a tumblr? It'd be easier to talk there. Mine's kasundapinku.tumblr.com. just message me and let me know its you. Then we can talk about it more privately.
@RebecaLamb9 жыл бұрын
Elijah Ewing I think she was talking specifically about their parents.
@Axxidous9 жыл бұрын
Elijah Ewing It wasn't an argument. Not many people say that. Or maybe they do and I'm just unaware. But I usually hear parents say they would still love their child if he/she turned out to be gay, as a heads up in case the child IS gay and hasn't revealed it yet. Or by people who have babies or want kids in the future. In this video it sounds like the girl is saying that she knows her specific mom would still love her. She mentioned her mom would even think it'd help her get into a certain school meaning her mom has already probably displayed behavior that has hinted at such a trait.
@funnyman66449 жыл бұрын

"If a man lies with another man he should be put to death" That's a quote from the Old Testament, God clearly loves LGBT people doesn't it?
@SquigglyThud9 жыл бұрын
+Flying Spectacles If you're going to play the "Let's pull any verse from the Bible" card, I'll play the "Let's pull verses out of the same chapter" card. "Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. Because they have cursed their father or mother, their blood will be on their own head." Leviticus 20:9. "If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife-with the wife of his neighbor-both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death." Leviticus 20:10 "If a man has sexual relations with his father’s wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Leviticus 20:11 You pulled that from Leviticus 20:13 (in case you didn't know). It goes on like that for another 7 or so verses. A lot of those are extremely frowned upon. There are extremest Christians who are super conservative and will only accept you if you follow everything in the Bible. There are also Christians who accept people for who they are because times change and we can't keep living the same ways forever. I'm a Christian. If you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you. It's as simple as that. God loves everyone, even if you don't think so. He died for EVERYONE. He didn't just die for those who follow Him.
@JK_29989 жыл бұрын
Alex Aumack Then i'm afraid you're in a minority, take the GOP as an example, most of them want to repeal gay marriage, many of them want to ban abortion via a constitutional amendment etc. That isn't because they're conservatives, it's because they're Christians.
@SquigglyThud9 жыл бұрын
Flying Spectacles I know very well that I'm in the minority. I can't do anything about gay marriage or abortion. Do I think it's wrong? Yes. Will I hate someone because they do it? No. And don't use the word conservative if you don't know what it means. There are conservative Christians. They are the ones that stick to the old ways of the Bible (but not the stoning or killing everyone stuff). They are a much more hardcore type of Christian unlike the kind that I am. I'm fine with gays, abortion, or any other example you want to throw at me. But why are you ok with it if you're Christian? Because it's not my life to live. People can make their own choices on abortion and being gay and I'm perfectly fine with that

I'm so sick & tired of reading homophobic comments on a video that clearly mentions gays...you chose to click on the video & if you can't deal with a couple of the same sex, here's an idea, DONT WATCH IT. It's literally so simple. Quit commenting shitty things on perfectly great videos because you don't like the content, just don't watch it. Buzzfeed isn't "shoving gay down our throughs" or "promoting a gay agenda", they're incorporating a normal sexual preference into their channel, something all media outlets & tv should be trying to do...but I digress. Anyway, just keep your ignorant & homophobic comments off these videos, thanks! xoxo

C heart Killing - You are not born with a craving to kill people. Incest - What is really wrong with it? What if they are both 18 and are being fully consensual? I am pretty sure the only real harm to it is that it increases the odds of certain diseases happening, much like with pure bred dogs. And yes, I am a weirdo. That has nothing to do with homosexuality, though.

I understand what it's like to be in the closet, even though I'm not gay. I come from a very racist family, and I dated a black woman all through college. When the relationship started getting serious, I finally came out to my parents. My mother was disappointed at first and came around, but my father never spoke to me again - even to this day. It would have been great if the relationship lasted...but now I have no father or wife. It get's better? Hmm...not for everyone.
@harleyquinn21759 жыл бұрын
oggyreidmore that's horrible, and i know you only have one family, but regardless of whether the relationship lasted or not, if you judge someone for the colour of their skin that makes you a horrible person, full stop. If your dad can't love you because of who you love, then he is the one with the problem, not you or your girlfriend.
@monikakratka61259 жыл бұрын
oggyreidmore I love that you used the "come out" in different situation. People should know, that everyone should be respected for who they love, who they are and what they do (you know..if they're not serial killer or something) and this doesn't always mean LGBT+. You can come out as someone in love with black girl, or as muslim, or as DJ, or as someone having third nipple. What happend to you shouldn't even exist, but you need to know, that you are much better than your father and the fact, that he didn't "teach" you his racism, makes you strong person. You don't need him. Sorry for the brake-up, however a good person like you will find the one in a minute. stay strong

To the entire LGBT+ community, I am deeply sorry for what you guys go though, I'm not only talking about this horrible comment section, but also the world as a whole. Although you guys are getting more and more accepted in today's society, there is still SO MUCH hate. If I ever had a kid and found out he/she was gay, I would be extremely sad, and maybe even cry. Not because I'm against it, because I'm afraid of all the hate they will receive, them feeling lonely and an outcast, and having to experience all this at such an early age. To all of the "haters" out there, I understand what freedom of speech is, but just because that's a thing, doesn't mean you can be rude and disrespectful. That's just disgusting if that's the way you think. I'm fine with you voicing your opinion about you stance and how you feel about this, but not in the way most of you are doing it now; death threats, bullying in general etc. What has this world come to, do you understand how stupid it is that two people in love can't get married? How idiotic it is to say, your disgusting for being a man and thinking a women is hot or the other way around? Sounds stupid right? I am privileged to be able to grow up with special conditions, I'm 14 and I am growing in a time where the world and it's people are changing like never before, I'm Arabic and from Syria, but I was born and raised here in America, I am able to step back and observe the world and how it works, it's culture, religion, technology, and it's people, and how different people react to different situations. And the fact that myself, a 14 year old straight boy, has to tell people to not be disrespectful and rude to others for who they love and what they identify as, is just plain stupid. To all the LGBT+ people out there, stay strong, there will always be haters but you will have to learn to overcome there hatred, because things do get better.

When I finally came out my moms reaction was just amazing. She just said " I could never imagine to be with a women but if that is who you are it's great. I will not love you less." Okay, guys. Your parents are not entitled to know your sexuality. That alone is your decision, but they're not entitled to have that information. Sometimes it's nice to still be in the closet.

ObitoTHEwraith And how is *that* a solution? My original statement had mean to say that you shouldn't feel pressured into coming out--especially by figures who make you feel unsafe telling them that, if that hadn't been obvious.
@ObitoTHEwraith9 жыл бұрын
Micael Vertureoay that has nothing to do with what i said nor what you said. you said its you dont have to tell your parents if you dont want to i said if youre living under their roof eating their food and using up their resources for free then yes you owe it to them to be honest to them at the least. otherwise you can get your own place it can be done before you get out of highschool
@micaelvertureoay69559 жыл бұрын
ObitoTHEwraith My being their child does not require me to disclose information that might make people HURT me. That I might get beaten up because my parents are homophobic. Why should I disclose information to people I deem unsafe to be disclosing about? Why is the fact that I'm their child relevant to my anxiety about my own safety? Easier said than done.

Please make a video that has a bisexual in it!!! No one wants to talk about us. Bisexuality is a real sexual orientation and it should be showed on buzzfeed too. Also I'm sure all the transgender, transsexual, asexual, pansexual, genderfluid people would like some representation too. I know it's a lot but keep it in mind. I really appreciate all of your videos about the LGBT community. It's nice to not feel alone.
@anim2429 жыл бұрын
and how would you go about doing that exactly? don't get me wrong i'm bisexual as well but making something showing someone as bisexual would rather be hard to do unless someone said it in a video straight out that they're bisexual. and as you said it is indeed alot and some of those would also be rather hard to represent unless again someone said it straight outright like asexual pansexual. genderfluid and transexual i could see happen.

Boo hoo, gay people exist. There's nothing you can do about it. You can either sit there complaining about it, or get outside and do something to take your mind off it. The second option would be more enjoyable for everyone. Sorry for being so blunt, but that's just the way I am usually, and I am so done with homophobic people spreading their lies and nonsense over the internet. Okay? Okay.

So how exactly does one tell there slightly homophobic Christian friend that their bi without entirely wrecking the friendship?...I'm open to suggestions I'm seriously thinking of staying closeted because I don't want to have my friends thinking every time I hug them "OH MY GOD WAS THAT A SEXUAL HUG" ...but I feal like I'm lying to myself. I've known I'm bi for 2 years and said nothing... is it better to leave it that way or say something.
@milliepennell11038 жыл бұрын
Emily Byrne I came out as pan to a slightly homophobic friend without realising she was and it was kinda awkward but she warmed up to it so I would say just go for it their bit worth your time of they don't like you as a person anymore 😀
@cringe22068 жыл бұрын
Emily Byrne i came out as gay to my Christian friend and she didn't accept me at all the worst part is we had been friends for 7 years.. and we stopped hanging out i found new friends though and to be honest i am so much happier because i am being honest with myself and i don't have to hide who i am. i know you might be scared to come out but you need to and if she doesn't accept you she is not a true friend and you shouldn't be hanging around people like that. if she really loved you and was your friend she wouldn't let who you're dating to get in the way.

@pristories9 жыл бұрын
AwesomeBrickSauce there's a large debate about what pansexuality is compared to bisexuality (because some pansexuals see their sexuality different from others and it gets really confusing between the two to others), but it basically means your attraction to someone isn't entirely dependent on gender -often known as "gender blind". Bisexuality is attraction to two genders, male and female, although sexuality is fluid and some bisexuals may stray from that. Pansexuality, with pan meaning "all", kind of sees gender as irrelevant. Well, that's not really the right word to describe it, but pansexual people can fall in love with anyone regardless of their gender identity (so male, female, genderfluid, agender, etc)

I'd really like them to continue this video series (This comment is in regards to all of the comments from people who were offended) I'm just curious why people watch this video if they are uncomfortable with people who are same sex oriented....? Like I would understand if the video thumbnail had no clues or if the description didn't have any clues to what the topic was, but really? The thumbnail is of two girls kissing and the title of the video is "What if we stayed in the closet?" Which is a pretty obvious indicator that the couple in the video is not straight.... Someone please help me understand, if you are offended by same sex couples why did you watch, do you like spreading hateful comments or did you just not believe that they'd be lesbians??? Someone who was offended by the video please explain this one to me, I'm actually really curious why you watched?
