Hi Peter - Fantastic video. In 1966 I was sixteen and I bought a Lambretta LI 150 to get me to work. After a couple of years I fell in love with a Vespa GS 160 Mk 2 and although it was a couple of years older than the Lambretta I just had to have it. It looked just like yours but with crash bars and racks and of course in the day you had to have ten spotlights and several mirrors. That was the best decision I ever made cos that scooter was amazing. It went on rallies and took me 120 miles each way every weekend to see my girlfriend ( who became my wife ) Eventually we traded the GS in to get a car ( If only I had known what I know now ) that was a big mistake. We spent some wonderful years and many thousands of miles on the GS and I only wish I could get another one now, but in England they are so rare and probably out of my price range. It is so good to see someone like you who has restored and given the Vespas a new lease of life. I would have loved a job like yours. Long may the business continue. All the best Dave.

Try getting one from Pakistan. Either old un restored to restore yourself or a complete restored one . Usually u will get p150s with 8 inch wheels or p150x with 10 inch wheels .

Finally, I was expecting this for you guys for a long time, this little bike sure deserves some of your fine footage!! These things are the most fun to drive, very reliable and a remarkable piece of design and engeneering! I have a ´76 Sprint Veloce, totally restored by the '70s standards and its my everyday ride. Had a 600km trip these summer and it was a blast!!!

I've loved the elegance and simplicity of the design of the Vespa...Petrolicious do more about 2 wheels, please. You'll find about the iconic German Kreidlers, the French Motobécanes (the Mobylettes blue and grey models), the 125 Morini, and many many other, from Ducati to Ossa.

I have owned a Vespa 90, which had been in a shed for 15 years. I took a can of fresh petrol with the oil mixed in it. I drained the tank and filled it up, then it started on the third kick, and I rode it home. After that I sold it and bought a Rally 200, and also acquired a PX 125, so I had 2 Vespas on the road at the same time. The 125 was stolen, and I replaced it with a restored PX125E, which I still own today, but haven't ridden for 15 years. I parted with the Rally 200 after moving house and not having space for it, but that was definitely the best Vespa I ever had.

I own TWO - both 1965 Vespa 150 Sprints (his & hers) -- both from Italy (not SE Asia) and, believe it or not, I enjoy them more than I did when I rode big Harleys. I think it's the lower center-of-gravity and their pure simplicity. They're definitely not intimidating, or "macho", and you can't take them on the freeway, but they definitely carry their own truly iconic cache to onlookers... and they're just SO much fun!! Really enjoyed the outstanding vintage Vespas displayed in your video! Jeez! I thought mine were cool, but so many within his garage (looking at that GS) make mine look tame.

Enormously charming and, as usual with Petrolicious, beautifully photographed. I am not all that interested in Vespas but the passion that Peter Maas shows fits right into the other videos here. My suggestion for two wheelers: a c. 1974 Laverda 750SFC cafe racer in Italy somewhere.

I bought one when I was 19, liked it a lot even it never worked quite well, there was something wrong with the carburettor but, anyway, I went everywhere with it... One day my father took it for a ride, after a while someone knocked the door, it was my father, he was dirty and his clothes were torn, someone picked and took him home, we took him at the doctor and later the same day we went to "rescue" the Vespa, it was all bent and full of broken parts down in a steep fileld next to the road... Fixed it the best I could without spending a lot and sold it, that was its story, and at least my father was fully recovered from the accident, it seems the rear wheel lost ground in that wet curve and he just fell....
@HillbillyonaYZ7 жыл бұрын
Lol, usually the story is the other way around, the son crashes the father's toys. :D

Another fantastic video... because it calls to the subjective essence of driver and road. The sound, the visceral and emotional connection thereto. Whether on two or four wheels... or the durability of a 2CV or a HMMWV... ultimately, it makes no difference. Each is a reflection of the individual.

How seriously cool, great to see Petrolicious branching out to the two wheels. Now for a video hopefully on classic Ducatis of the 60s and 70s. My brother in law has had a series of Ducati V-twins. His current rides are a '73 750GT and a '72 750 SS. I would love a Vespa or even a modern version like the Piaggio Fly 125/150. Scooters are so good to ride. Just for the record out here in Oz, Harleys are called Hardly Fergusons !! :)

As usual a great video from Petrolicious, even if it is about a subject I don't care much about. Never liked scooters and somehow Vespas came to be inexorably linked, in my mind, to hipsters; skinny jeans, unkempt beards and stripey t-shirts, that sort of thing. Keep up the good work, Petrolicious. #drivetastefully
