I’ve played the game since day one and have basically been a firestaff/ig one trick pony. My build hasn’t changed since before the patch and I still kill people significantly faster than before season 5 release. Something is not right.

If I compare my old build (Attuned Pants) with FS/BB to this one there is literally no difference in the damage. I mean, after full empower with the meteor on the other build, I was also able to 3 shot light users when they run lower CON. I think the biggest difference at the moment is that most people in OPR don't really slot correct gems in their gear. Also, I don't think each player has BIS set to fight with and most likely we have some returning, or new players. All those factors can be the reason for that feeling we all have.

They need to lower top end dmg. Mages just go to far, not only are the absolute winners in every single 1v1 tournament from the last 1.5 years, they reck in OPR, Open world, influence, etc. Its just to crazy. Plus with IG they have one of the highest survivabilities in the game without sacrificing any dps or burst. Most FS builds do more dmg with each heavy attack than most melee skills, its spameable, easy to hit, lowers cooldowns and much more, from range. The devs say its ok because their numbers show normal winrates in OPR, that is so stupid that is amazing, shows how the balance team bearly has 1k hours playing the game. 95% of the player base is playing full opal+ruby for magic defense, plus other perks and still FS hits harder than most melee builds with spameable heavy attacks. All the new offensive artifacts just increase all of this to the point that in S5 is just not worth it to go to PVP unless you play range or full tank/bruiser with healer. Prbly the worst patch since release, over 150 bugs in the first 2 days, balance completely broken, and many exploits without a fix (hello 0cd javeline, new machinegun bow, yeah theres a new one after the fix btw, no reload muskets, etc.). Watch the 3+ minutes of your video, you are dishing tons of dmg FOR FREE, 0 risk, no much skill involved, from range, no pots needed, no dodges needed, nothing. Another thing, the last season FS had to much dmg anyway, this is not new, so thats not really an argument, also, it has overall more dmg than before because of new artifacts, animation cancels and ppl lowering their fire resist because of VG bugs and going opal. So not only you are doing more dmg, more dps vs 25+ fire resist builds but you are doing it for pretty average skill lvl, range and still you have more survivability than most melee light builds. There is no argument about it. Btw you said it your self at 4:58, you can one shot ppl because they run "low" fire protection, and low armor. You are running the same thing and doing more dmg... from range O.o. How is a weapon balanced if you need 25-40% fire protection to fight it? How is that balanced? Whats the argument here? Copium is in another lvl here. And your defense is that spear hits you hard, what about every other weapon? How much dmg can you make before a melee player gets to u? And then, what about tomb, ice shower, storm, roots, burnout, net? They spent skills+pots+stamina to reach you, you in midtime did the same dmg as the strongest melee weapon (spear, which i also think it should get nerfed btw). Also, you can dodge sweep and leap, in fact, those are pretty obvious. Edit: btw 5k+ hours in the game. We can argue anything u want, numbers DO NOT LIE.

It's not about arguing or not, as that's not my point. In general, all the concerns you've mentioned are true, but the base line falls into OPR mainly. Since there is no structure of any matchmaking and equal distribution the teams there are a complete joke. It would be really hard to get an equally skilled and balanced teams with the current system. If we look at wars the picture is completely different. The reason for that is the well-structured teams and designated roles with positions. You've mentioned that I said something about 2-3 shotting someone. Well, if I get hit by a bow or musket, combo, the result is the same. The take here is that those 3 mentioned ranged classes are made to do damage and only damage. And before saying that mele cannot do that, let me stop you. There are plenty of assassins running GA, SnS, Hatchet and Spears. The reason why they are not running them in Light Gear, but Heavy instead is that they lose just a fraction of their output (damage and control) while getting super tanky. You can check my vods in wars and see what I'm talking about. If any of the mentioned meles get to me and I fuck up my dodges, it's all over.

@@Lidiq- Just wanted to clarify, im not saying it is your fault, just making conversation. Im not only talking about OPR, i mentioned 1v1 tournaments too. I never said melee "cant" do that much dmg, but it should be obvious and honestly i think its a waste of time even to mention it but... for a melee build to do the same dps/burst than a FS, it needs to get to melee range first... meaning, there is RISK, investment, getting out of positioning involved. You can do the same dmg without any risk, and then you have SO many tools to get away and survive than even beats any LIGHT melee build. Theres no melee light build that has the survivability of a FS/IG build, and the dmg, and the burst..... + range. Heavy melee is not assassin, heavy is a joke to kite, even the broken sns/spear builds are easy to get aways from if they go heavy, so honestly theres no real point there. You can go heavy too, buts its pointless because you dont need to, melees go heavy because anything else gets melted. Im not going to talk about wars because... absolutely nobody cares, less than 1% of the games population plays it, even the devs dont care. And btw, IG has been meta and broken in Wars for 2 years or so, also the main culprit for most of performance issues, and still never got nerfed haha. I still remember when tanks and bruisers had IGs. Also in wars groups are WAY more organiced and yes, bruisers can take advantage of healing better than ranged builds, sure, it just that that doesnt apply for 99% of the other pvp content. Bows and Muskets have to much dmg too, all ranged builds have, but they have (usually) less survivability, or they need to sacrifice dmg/burst. Also bow for example is way harder to play than FS, yeah im sry, but its true. Muskets are a joke, dont get why they got buffed again, its ridiculous. I talked about FS first because it has it all, muskets should get dmg nerfed, and bows needs to get all the exploits/cancels fixed ofc. The point is, you cant play at range and do the same or more dmg and have the same or more mobility/survivability than a light melee build, its simple facts, over 30 years of MMORPGs have taught us that. At the end of the day, the issue is that the devs are pretty much way below average players, have at most 1k hours in NW and also, dont want to split PvE and PvP balance, thats why range keeps going up in DMG and still is useless in pve, they said it themselves in a video a month or so ago, they dont want to split balance. "I fuck up my dodges, it's all over"... yes, thats how it works for everyone. But you have plenty of defensive options too, not only dodge. Most melee weapons need dodges and blocks to survive, which are all tied to stamina, which they pbly used to GET to you first. Even CCs, yes you can use them to survive... but you need them to stop you from running away too... and for damage... See? Sacrifices, choices, thats what FS builds barely need to do, you have ALL the damage and burst you need in 1 weapon, leaving the second weapon for absolute free choice. Melees needs both weapons for mobility, damage and survivability. If FS gets nerfed, now u ill need your secondary weapon to compensate, meaning, you ill need to choose btw survivability or dmg as we all do, you can not have it all and range, its just crazy talk.

Using Spear (an overpowered busted ass weapon) as to why Fire Staff isn't overpowered with the new sped up animations/cancels and Nature's Wrath 20% infinite up time base damage is maybe not the best argument to make. They're both the two most over-performing weapons in the game right now besides Life Staff/Rapier.

I might be biased but the only purpose of the Fire Staff is to bring damage to the table. Same goes for the Musket and the Bow. Those weapons are simply made to deal high damage, as their kit is lacking anything else. On the other hand, Spear is more of a utility weapon with zoning abilities and crowd control. Paired with debuffs and the high damage it simply takes the number 1 spot of best weapon in the game.

@@Lidiq- For sure, not going to hear me defending Spear. Spear is imo the most overpowered melee weapon and its not close. But what I was getting at is both fire and spear are overpowered in the meta right now compared to how clunky other weapons are, how slow their animations are, how much self-root other weps have.

You can use a melee weapon and do a heavy attack, that wil free you also

Nature’s wrath is absolutely busted. Pretty much 20% permanent buff for fire staff since. I’ve seen 10k damage from one spell. I’ve been on the other end of it as well with 30% fire resist in medium getting 2 shot.

There is no spell in the game that can hit you for 10k unless you are playing without any resist towards that type of damage, or you have low constitution. Considering the bleed or burn effects towards the total damage dealt of an ability is not the correct way, as during that time you will be able to receive heals, drink potions, eat food, cleanse your self etc. Yes, the artefact is strong, but you lose the extra defense from the Featherweight, or the extra attributes from the Attuned Leather Pants.

I can tell you for a fact our company’s fire staves are hitting those numbers. As for video evidence I’m not putting their builds out for everyone to copy. It’s already bad enough.

I was just talking with a buddy about this, IG/VG is horrendously clunky after the combat rework compared to FS. FS can just instantly drop abilities now with super short anims meanwhile IG/VG lock you in for long animations for all their abilities and feel horrendous in comparison.

Didn't know about that. Also didn't hear any IG/VG from the companies I'm in to complain, but I guess there is something.

@@Lidiq- yeah apparently the IG/VG anims were slowed down and are no longer anim cancellable. but BB and FS got their anims/cancels sped up. its kinda dumb.

Yeah, the bugs are really out of control. Still, I am happy to have something to do... but will be done with the season pass soon and then I guess we wait for June...

i actually think the changes to combat are a good thing..(as long as works with no bugs of course). we now have a bit more of a skill ceiling, for most weapons, which had been taken from us in previous patches.. also, i think its good that mellee, causes quite a bit of slow and shorter dodge rolle etc, making it harder for ranged to get away, once cuaght well by a mellee.. otherwise range just has too many advantages over mellee, and usually always put quite a bit of damage and debuffs to u, before u can even become a threat to them.. so its not right if they then can just dance around, with haste, and immediatly get distance on the mellee again.. its better the wy it is now.. of course no lag is important too

I think that as well. I really hope that we can see the current combat without any bugs, so we can evaluate again the balance.
