Look up borscht to make with your fresh beets… you can use beef or chicken, cabbage, beets, potatoes, onions with a dollop of sour cream. Yummy!!!!!

Can you show what the sourdough starter recipe over the filling looks like after baked? It's intriguing
@jasonandjulie Жыл бұрын
I show it in the second shot of the cast iron pan. Basically it just cooks until golden. Sometimes I then sprinkle cheese over the top

@@jasonandjulie Thanks. I guess I thought it would be a higher rise so I didn't catch it. Looks very tasty

It’s so much fun! The kids all enjoy discussing each meal and figuring out how much of it came from our farm 😄

LOVE this!! Your channel is so full of what real life looks like with a lot of kids. I also loved your “the sun is down, but we do what we can” attitude. Sometimes dinner is eaten late, but hey…it’s still eaten.

I struggle with snacks. What kind of snacks do your kids eat? I get the packaged snacks but they go soo fast and looking for alternatives that don't take too long to prep since I work outside the home.
@jasonandjulie Жыл бұрын
Snacks are hard! I try to give them filling meals so that they can go longer without them 🙃 We do fruit, “milkshakes” or smoothies with our fresh milk, granola, hard-boiled eggs, popcorn, homemade baked goods.

Mmmmm! So tasty Julie! We do a lot of egg recipes around here. Egg bakes with stale bread and lots of cheese and herbs always turns out nice. Also english muffins and eggs with either bacon or sausage with cheese. Grilled garden veggies and fresh salads. Fast meals and filling meals are so nice during the summer. Thanks for sharing with us!

Yum that all sounds delicious! We eat eggs for breakfast nearly every morning. Maybe I should do a video of breakfasts! It’s been awhile 😄

I attended a pasta cooking class in Italy recently and chef made his pasta pretty thick like you did in the video. I really liked the toothiness of it. I also really liked the cacio e Pepe pasta - which is simply spaghetti noodles with cracked black pepper and Parmesan cheese. It is so simple and yet so delicious when done right.

Jason and I went to Italy years ago and I loved all the pasta! They know how to make it amazing

Everything looked so good! In the summer we love to BBQ so we don't have to heat up the house. Chicken on the BBQ tonight, along with a fresh from the garden 7 layer salad. 😊

Great meal ideas, thanks! Lisa's gnocchi soup is one of our go-to easy meals. I do buy the gnocchis already made, but if you make some and freeze them that would be easy later on. We also make Lisa's sourdough pizza often. We make it when the sourdough is active and bubbly, then I put it in the fridge so sometime during the week we can have 2 meals worth of pizza really quickly.
@jasonandjulie Жыл бұрын
I’ll have to try that! The last time we were at Lisa’s house she made us that gnocchi for dinner but we ate it as a side instead of in a soup. It was delicious though and the kids asked me to make it. Guess I need to learn a new recipe 😄

You’re my food twin! 😂 It can be so difficult to weed through a lot of these “what we eat meals” to find recipes that work for each individual family. Thankfully, when you started doing these, I realized we’re “food twins”. Our families eat very similarly and we enjoy a lot of the same flavors so I gain a lot of inspiration from you! Thanks!

No mushrooms. We buy them every once in awhile but not regularly 😁 I haven’t learned how to grow them and we don’t have any wild morels on our property
