Interesting that That Black Stuff isn't glossy even when its not even the satin version of it. Very helpful. Thanks

I have used Forever Black now for 14yrs I think and love it. You could clean and tape off the fenders and spray them but that is labor intensive.

Great video! I love how he says “Florida Sun”, he should come to Central Texas in the summer time when it’s sunny and temperatures are over 100 degrees all summer long.
@germanshepherd133 жыл бұрын
Sorry but spent a summer in San Antonio with over 100 degrees most of the time and time and low humidity. Spent time in FL with 80-90 plus and high humidity and will take a dry heat any day!
@gunner2gunner3 жыл бұрын
@@germanshepherd13 yes it’s true that Florida has high humidity, most state on the southern east coast do because they get more rain than we get here in Central Texas. In 1925 Austin TX had the hottest summer on record with 60 days of 100 plus degrees. In 2011 we broke that 1925 temperature record with 90 plus days of 100 plus degrees. We also have Ozone Action Days which is when the temperatures are high, humidity is high and the air is stagnant and it’s a risk for health issues. Florida doesn’t have Ozone Action Days. It’s hot as hell in Texas, and our humidity is 84 today. We only have 2 seasons here, hot as hell and hot. We did have a freak winter storm this past February when we got 8” of snow. Austin is still a construction zone due to pipes breaking. Yes Florida gets more hurricanes than we do, but we’re had our share too in the past few years. When it rains it floods here. I’ve seen a golf course where the 18th hole was 25’ under water. I have scuba dived at Lake Travis where an outside bar was 35’ under water. We pray for rain, but when it doesn’t stop, we pray it does due to flooding.

@@o3djeeps I got to Austin TX in 1969, left and spent 5 years in Alamogordo NM, then 10 in Yorktown VA, and come back to Austin in 1995 and been here since. Now I’m thinking of going back to Virginia because my parents are getting old and need my help. I’m currently house hunting, but my mom wants me to move in with them. Free room and board in there 5,600sqft house in exchange for house and yard work. Sounds like a great deal, I’m 53 and I’m retired. I sure could save a lot of money, for my dream home in Pagosa Springs CO.

After using pretty much every tech to restore plastic and rubbers on old cars I used cerakote for the first time. Im pretty much sold. I love the idea of conditioning rubbers and soft plastics but this whole battle of trying to make old faded and hazed black trim look new... Just cerakote it man. Prep hardcore and degrease. Spread the product evenly if you see a smudge or blotch it will stay this way. 1 wipe does his entire front and a fender. The result is spectacular and extremely durable. It will turn grity eaten up trim slick again with a new + freshly detailed look.

I just did my fenders and bumpers with a new dye product called Rugged Restore. It’s only been a couple of weeks and they still look good. Supposed to last 4 to 6 months. I’ll have to check back to let you know how it’s holding up. When it dries it has a satin look, very similar to what it looked like new.

@@germanshepherd13 I made it through winter with it holding up pretty good, it needs another now, but it’s no where near as bad as it was when I first used it. I’m extremely pleased with this product.

So, if Cerakote can come up with a flat, or at least matt finish, it would be the way to go. Other than that, my choice is Forever Black.

I didn't care for the shine from the Cerakote but it does seem to fade to a more mat black after 8-10 weeks. It's been holding up with the mat finish for 4 months now.
@PatTheRiot Жыл бұрын
I just did one few days ago and I really dig the look. You really have to prep it properly even wet sand or magic eraser if you want good even color and absorbtion. If you use an entire wipe for a small test square like this guy did its going to be ridiculously shiny! I used 5 wipes to do an entire SUV with complete trim all around. You really have to work the product in evenly.

I've never had any good results using Back to Black :-/ ..... QUESTION: For your test why did you not use "Chemical Guys TVD_108_16 Tire and Trim Gel for Plastic and Rubber" to Restore and Renew Faded Bumpers?

I wonder if after a few weeks the cerakote doesn’t lose some of that shine. Great video! Thanks for making this
@PatTheRiot Жыл бұрын
It doesnt even shine that hard if you degrease and spread it properly. 1 wipe does an entire front bumper + fenders 😂 It doesnt look coated at all it looks new + dressing like vrp does for a day

Regular off the shelf creamy peanut butter works at LEAST as well. Apply it, rub it in, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, wipe off the excess and buff with a soft clean cloth. Try it and be amazed.

Soooooo... basically just rub peanut oil on plastics. As a detailer, That sounds terrible & will not hold up to heavy foam washes. Just buy some cerakote bud... it's very inexpensive.

Bottom line is I spent over $30,000 on a brand new Jeep wrangler in 2016 and the fenders that they supply are crap plastic that fades. Why do we except such crap from the manufacture. They should come up with a much better plastic so we don’t need to constantly try to make them look new. Wouldn’t it be funny if everybody replaced their fenders with aftermarket and then everybody would send their crap fenders back to the manufacture. There really should be a class action suit for bad materials being used.
