My first experience with the W & S was in Madison during the Red Power Roundup. Tough call between trucks, tractors, and trains that day!

Nice chase of T003 with 6022 leading! Cool lightning shots, as well. That CPKC train is going a bit faster than I expected over the bridge; I guess I just assumed that was all 10 MPH trackage for them just like the Beloit-Janesville section. Edit: Wow, that is some quite significant structural damage in Beloit! I work for a TV station in Madison and I don't think we even made mention of it last week. Don't see anything about it on the National Weather Service-Milwaukee's site, either.

Its 25 MPH for CPKC from Beloit and out toward the far south side of Rockton around Roscoe Rd

At the 6:30 mark where the train had just finished going through the crossing I saw a sign below the flashing lights that said “Exempt”. That usually means the train line has been abandoned and school buses don’t have to stop and then proceed over the tracks. Just wondered.

I'm not sure, but it's definitely not abandoned.

Out of service/abandoned is only one possible reason to exempt buses and certain other vehicles from stopping at a crossing. In this case, it's because it cuts through a 4-way intersection (and because one of the intersecting roads, US 14/I-90ALT is a quite busy one) and the stopping vehicles would create a major traffic headache.
