I have the a chocolate cap-toe roughout from Cordobes and there is a reason Carl keeps coming back to how easy they are to wear: they are the most comfortable boot out of the box that I have ever worn. They fit like a glove and comfortable. That alone is worth the price of admission.

I haven’t watched this whole video before I comment in it, and you probably said they were same answer I just said, but and near boots were originally made for people who are welding on ships and stuff like that so something called the hot foot when a spark will go through your pants and go into your boot, it was something that you can kick off quickly

Great job for dispelling the myth about Engineer boots being for firestarters. I only learnt that this wasn't the case a few months ago and that they were actually for people in engineering. Also, I love the fact that you're a fellow hoffman boot fan. They really are the best kept secret of PNW boot makers. I love my 16 composite toe all leather powerline. If you could do a video on hoffman's I think that'd be a great idea. Much love.

Freebird makes similarly priced engineer boot they call Easton. I was skeptical but ultimately very happy with them. No customization available but there isn’t much I would change on them.

Those boots look decent, Carl. But that flat outsole (lack of an arch) and the color reminds me of UGGS. As to the bulkiness of the buckle that you mentioned, nothing a few minutes, and a steady hand, on a bench grinder couldn't take care of. Thanks for this video, Carl!!

WW1 European hobb nailed army boots where finished in natural. A practice that continued into WW2 with the German high shaft jack boots. The best modern reproductions also use the correct wooden peg leather sole attachment method. When issued the owner would dye them black or brown as required. If they were roughout greasing would darken them significantly. Eventually they would be near black regardless.

Hola ! Saludos

@TylerSnyder3058 ай бұрын
I like the way they look from an objective standpoint , but they're just not for me I have skinny calves and ankles, so pull on boots just don't work for me. My preference is an 8" lace up tied quite snug. I definitely envy people who can wear a nice pair of cool engineer boots, but thankfully there are so many very cool lace up boots out there to keep me from feeling too bad.

@franky3fingers3378 ай бұрын
They are outsourced from Chippewa btw
@jessem_i318 ай бұрын
I also looked at the ones from Schott. Like franky3fingers337 pointed out, they're made by Chippewa who make decent boots. They don't have the same quality as they did 25 years ago but they're an ok boot...if someone wants to use them as a motorcycle boot they should be just fine, but they probably won't hold up as a work boot.
@bobjohnson63218 ай бұрын
id read chippewa closed all their usa factories. perhaps they use their designs? my guess is they are made by cove shoe company, i thought they were contractors used by Frye, Mark Albert, Carolina, Double H. Martinsburg, PA. the price is very good and the waxed leathers may be from seidel.

The edges on the heel look like that because they probably used cheaper veg tanned leather and some use the soft belly leather in their heel stacks to make it more comfortable . You can solve that problem by sanding it smooth and then "soak" it with a acrylic sealant like Angelus . Put on a few coats and it will stay nice even after the rain .
