you're making the right move! I decided to quit social media over a week ago and so far I feel like a completely different person. I think I gave up in trying to fit an "image" when not all the aspects of my life are glamorous. I love who I am becoming...

There's a big difference between using social media as a tool vs. a crutch. And to be honest, that line gets blurred sometimes when you create content. However, I think you're making the right choices and I appreciate you being vulnerable with this as always!

I believe the point of detoxing from social media is the be more perceptive & aware of what you are consuming instead of mindlessly scrolling & and knowing what the content your watching is doing to you mentally,physically & even behaviorally. Besides that I’d like to mention your a beast with your cinematography skills🔥

THIS! YAS! Okay, so I watched your part one video last night and today you responded to my comment under that (which was amazing by the way). And now after watching this, I agree with you 100% on KZbin being different and how it serves a better purpose. I guess it is social media but I don't see it that way either. Like you, I use it mainly for educational purposes, DIY jobs, tutorials for my website design, and the list goes. Definitely more of an educational platform. I also follow some channels for entertainment since I don't have Netflix or cable or anything like that. BUT, best of all... this might be the solution I'm looking for, to get off Facebook and Instagram and focus on developing my business here on YT. I have a channel but I am not consistent and don't put much into it. I think you just inspired me and helped me come up with a strategy. THANK YOU!!!

great video, I can see the quality of your videos is rising; To Social media, Ive listenend to a podcast, where one thing got said, which really stuck with me: Social media is supposed to be about you, but you are not really the one that to decide what you watch, algorithms are. What Im missing about Social Media is, the ability to specifically select what I want to be confronted with, instead of optimizing for your longest stay on the platform. Hope that makes sense. Have a good one

The key difference with social media platforms that we consider the “normal” ones like, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and KZbin, is that 90% of the time on YT you’ll consume the content you want to digest. That other 10% I would say exists due to community posts and shorts, that just make it into your home page. With the “normal” platforms, its 95% of the time in my opinion that you’re just scrolling through infinite amounts of content that just pops up in your screen. And that’s the fault of the “for you” section of TikTok, where now you consume content from a lot of people you don’t even know and will never talk to, but you’re just feeding their inflated egos and wallets (I know there’s a lot of good, genuine creators doing good things, but I’m referring to the unfortunate majority), causing more of this mess to continue to be created.

Yes!! Great observation. KZbin is a great search engine and really has found ways to promote videos that are beneficial to you instead of ones that make you just stay on the app longer. I’m sure KZbin has that going also but it just seems more positive and pure. I used to have a bit more negative take on creators before I began creating myself and now my opinion is far different. I think ultimately with the people that build up large platforms I just wish they spread hope and positivity a little more. Of course there are those that are, just talking about the other ones. Great chatting with you Walter! I really appreciate your insight on this one

Hi Demon, first of all thanks for sharing with us your experience with social media detox. I wanted to ask you, do you deactivated your accounts? or you definitely deleted them? I'm asking this cuz I've deactivated my ig account like 4 times in the past 2 years, But in this month I tried to do it again and I coudn't, I deactivate the account but instagram reactivates it automatically!! So I'm not sure about what to do:(

Hey Tania, I actually just delete the apps and forget the password to make it difficult to log back in. I deleted one of my Instagram profiles because I knew I would never want to go back to that profile and my main one is still floating around out there I just don’t have a easy way to get back in. That’s given me the comfort of mind that if I really want back in I can pick up where I left off and if I don’t ever want to go back I don’t have too. I hope that helps some. Thank you for your kind words🤍

Nice video! The question for me is: can a content creator be successful by having a presence exclusively on YT, or is success much easier to achieve by also using IG, FB, etc. Do you feel compelled to expand your social media "presence"?
@DamonCassidy
@DamonCassidy Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a great question. Part of me thinks more platforms higher likelihood of success but I also feel you will most likely have long term success on whatever platform fits you the best. I personally don’t feel compelled in terms of growth of the channel, I just want to authentically create and I think the rest will come if I keep on the path. I have creative interests and am intrigued on learning how to articulate my written word on something like Twitter potentially. Being a creator on KZbin is something I have written in every goal journal I’ve had since I was 13. For me it’s all about creativity and trying to spread hope and positivity🤍

@@DamonCassidy Thanks for the reply. I must say, I really like your emphasis on authenticity -- nowadays authenticity is way too often overshadowed by "profilicity" (to use a term popularized here on YT by Hans-Georg Moeler 😁). Keep up the creative work, looking forward to your next videos! 😇

@DamonCassidy
@DamonCassidy Жыл бұрын
Well I think that it depends. To have created a following like that is certainly something to be proud of if it is aligning with what you’re wanting to do! If you feel like you need a break or it is not healthy, uninstalling the app could really help in a break!! Sometimes if I struggle instinctively clicking an app I move it to a different part of my phone and find myself accessing a lot less just because I have to do “more work” to open it. I personally uninstalled Instagram and did not delete it fully, I did not do that intentionally I actually needed to know the password or something to delete it and I couldn’t figure it out so I just uninstalled the app but it feels good knowing that if I ever wanted to get back on I had that option. I hope that helped some! Best of luck on your journey!🤍

Wow what a great cinematography skills you’ve achieved within a short period of time ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ very impressive Damon 🌷What about your thoughts on a person who’s promoting their small business through social media platforms? Though they are selling online, what about the addiction? I’ve gone through this. Then I stopped using instagram and tiktok for my business. I still don’t know how to handle it without addiction.
