You can actually re tee that for no penalty as long as the stroke was not clearly intended to make contact. The same is true on the green and in bunkers

On the tee and on the green, you're correct. In your teeing area, re-tee or re-place wherever you want. On the green, re-place. No penalty. Bunkers (and anywhere else on the course) - nope. Place the ball back where it was, and take a one stroke penalty.
