Not for a pizzeria that spent 8 years to get Di Fara’s secrets. Portnoy is not lying. I was born and still live in NYC and Di Fara’s is top 10 in the city. It’s a 9 pizza any day.

7.9 is actually low in my opinion for their pizza. I live around the corner from Dom's and been going there since they opened in 2011. While it surely ain't as great as the original Di Fara in Brooklyn, it is an outstanding pie and probably more like an 8.4. Dave under scored it because it was a bit thicker than he likes after they even left the fresh basil off for him! hahaha

Wow ! One of the best reviews ever . All because of the story being told . I'm 68 and actually was born in Brooklyn and lived on Ave J and Ocean Pkwy . Moved to KIngs Point in 57 , but my grandparents stayed in Brooklyn, on 51st street , literally down the road . When we had pizza it was Di Fara's . Crazy good story and man who pursued and conquered . BROOKLYN IN THE HOUSE !

I love this. I had the privilege to talk to Dom a few times. He worked so hard but if you got to know him, he was a very sweet man. He told me all about how he imports everything. He told me about the ovens. Nobody, even his own family, can perfectly replicate what he did. The pizza is still good but it's not quite what it was when Dom was doing everything. I am sure, just the ingredients alone makes this pizza pretty good but the second Dave opened the box, you could see it's not the same. Not just the missing fresh basil, it was missing the added oil and the look of the sauce and the fresh parm Dom sprinkled on top. It just isn't the same.

I learned to make pizza when I was 12-15 years old from the owner of the first pizzeria I worked at in 1979 in as a quarter boy in the arcade side and then from a wonderful lady who told me if I wanted to know how to make pizza I would have to watch her do it. No lessons, no measurements just "You see what I did? do that." and on she would go. My son now works for the son of the owner of the first place and one of my friends from high school has taken over the second since that wonderful woman, who was his aunt, has since passed away. Would love El Prez to show up here some day to try both places.
