Update: I did it with a 8 mm crochet because it was easier for me to see the stitches 🐥 It's so cute! I feel more confident and will certainly try it again with a 5 mm crochet

I think it’s so that it slops better by going 12, 18 and 24 then just 12 to 24. Hope this is correct and helps ❤

It is more gradual so the circle doesn’t automatically double. You find it in most amigurumi patterns because it creates a consistent circle

It could be the tension being too tight? Try going up a size on your hook. I’m by no means a crochet expert but I had a similar issue.

A magic ring/loop/circle (MR) is what makes most of these plushie’s. There are make tutorials on how to make one and many different ways TO make one. It allows you to go in a circle, being why it’s called a magic ring/circle. It is basically putting x amount of sc/single crochet in this loop with a “tail” then pulling the tail to make it look sorta like a croissant or half circle

The bobble stitch can be tricky! My tip, just do 4 double crochet in one stitch, if you do 4, by the end you would have 5 loops on your hook! That's how you know you did it right. Then you take the brown (or the same color) and pull through all of 5 loops, take your time it's tricky.
