I think we can learn so much from veteran teachers. No matter what year you are in you should be looking towards the veterans. We have a teacher has is on her 30th year and I always ask her for advice. She is so wise and I want to soak up as much as possible from her before she retires.

I’m a first year and I know I have so so so much to learn from others. I take every advice that I can and I am constantly picking everyone’s brain lol. I have been trying to do better at leaving on time since I already arrive 1 hour to an 1 hour 1/2 before school starts. It’s the best time to get my copies done and get ready for my day. By 4:00 I am ready to leave and head to the gym to work on myself. Thanks for the video Ms. May!

One Fab Teacher, Miss May, you truly ROCK!!! I wish I had someone share those tips with me when I was a first year teacher back in 1989. I am in my 26th year of teaching and still need to remember these tips. I also love your reminders of having faith in God. Love all the videos I've seen of you and look forward to seeing more. Your faculty and firsties are very lucky to have you teaching at their school. Cheers!

It is very hard not to compare in general. It is easy for me to be humble, but comparing myself is hard. I am great at time management, but I am a person that likes to get everything done. Can you do a video about how to prioritize, figure out where to stop, how to know what needs to be done vs we want

Thank you for such valuable advice, Miss May! I've been struggling to get into my first classroom and I've been graduated/licensed for a year and a half now. I've done lots of subbing and leaves, but still no job yet. :( I've been worried after a few experiences that I would be on my own and expected to have it together 100% of the time, but I'm so lucky to have the guidance and mentorship of veteran teachers like yourself to help me along as I struggle through this confusing time. This video is such a blessing!

I’m going on my 16th year of teaching and these classroom tour videos and live teaching lessons and other things KZbin teachers share is my professional development for fresh ideas. The PDs I have is school are bleh but I benefit the most from what I learn from other teachers and how I can make it work in my class. I’m all for continuous learning. My last masters was in 2013. So much has changed since then.

I truly appreciate this video because the comparing tip and prioritizing tip is so helpful for me. I always try to look at other teachers to figure out how they are getting things done in their classroom. I also am a Type A teacher that likes things done efficiently and thrives on to-do lists. Because of this video, I will now get some tips from them instead of comparing myself. I will also work on knowing my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher.

Omg I swear I can't thank you enough. I'm 18 and I'm a teacher for preschool and kinder for after school program. My first time was last week and it was crazy. I would often ask for advice and help because I don't know anything about getting kids attention or what to do to calm the classroom down. I feel like I'm too boring and I'm trying my best to make it fun. I still have a lot to learn and I wasn't cocky at all either. I would let any staff or parents know that it's my first year and that I'm trying my best. I know how to deal with children because I would help at a daycare or babysit for 5 years so I know how children's behaviors are and what to do. It's just a bit difficult for me now because it's about 15 kids in my classroom. 😵 I'm going to watch every video of yours and study more to be a great teacher as you. 😊

I agree with you about new teachers. I like how you say NEW teachers vs YOUNG teachers. I have newer teachers who acted like they knew it all. One example is my old choir director. He came in as if he was all that and a bag of chips He told us he had listened to our contest pieces and that they were horrible, Undermining (think thats' the word) the judges which gave us great ratings. He even got rid of the choir I was in. He destroyed the choir. We had 150 kids in it when he came in after his first year, it was down to 100 and after his second (and last year) it was down to 50 or so. He wasn't respectful or kind towards us and he resigned after 2 years becaus our kids were too baldy behaved ..was his reason.
