@@Davidparker90 It is a bit harsh. If you camp a few times a year or perhaps more regularly but always in fair weather, there is absolutely zero point spending an unnecessary amount of money is there. Yes a Thermarest or an Xped are lovely pieces of kit but they come at a premium.

Another honest and meaningful appraisal of OEX kit. If this mattress is teamed with a piece of 3mm closed cell foam from a builders merchant then:- A) R value of approx 5 will be realised B) it won’t slip around on the tent ground sheet C) it will be better protected from ground punctures. I’m often surprised that the slipperiness factor is overlooked - it can often be a challenge to find a flat place to pitch.

Ive used this mat for about a year now.in summer its great but i also used it through this winter paired with a foil backed foam roll mat to bump up the insulation and it kept me nice n warm.its small and light when packed away too.i like it

Good video Dan. Will be interesting to see if the r-value really is what it's rated at and if it lasts. It looks very similar to the Trekology UL50, although that had a lower r-value.

Ill stick to my trekology ul80 . Very light , very thick. You can make it firm firm or sink into it a little by letting some air out. I like it so much its Been inflated in my bedroom for over 1 yr. I actually prefer it over my own bed on nights I cant sleep.

Don’t look a bad mat, I use a UL80 for spring and summer months, but did pick up a Vango Trek 3 mat you did a review on before Christmas, really comfortable and 1kg isn’t too bad just wish it had a loop on the carry bag to attach to the outside of my bag because it does take up quite a bit of space, though I do like to take kitchen sink with me during winter months 😂

Hi, may seem a dumb question but does the insulation sheet that people put under the mattress have to be as wide as the mattress or not? The reason i ask is because the mattress i want is 76cm which is wide but i don't really want to carry a double insulating sheet if a single is ok

The OEX Flux 1.5 is a camping sleeping mat made of durable Nylon ripstop fabric, which is resistant to tearing and abrasions. Its aesthetic triangular baffle design not only promotes high levels of insulation but comfort as well. It also comes with a drawstring carry bag, which makes it easy to pack and transport. The Flux 3 has an R-value of 2.9, which means that it provides insulation suitable for 4 seasons, meaning it’s suitable to use all year round but not below freezing. An R-value indicates that the OEX Flux sleeping mat will keep you reasonably comfortable in cold temperatures above freezing, but it may not provide enough warmth for sub-zero conditions.
@jim-bob-outdoors
@jim-bob-outdoors Жыл бұрын
@@englishwoodsman Well if its just the shape the are relying on for insulation, rather than some sort of filling, I am calling them out on the R rating. Also it would need to be at least an R of 5 to be a winter mat. It would be interesting on how they come up with that number. Doubt it has been tested by one of the official regulators. 🤔🤔

Absolutely no way that has an r rating of 3,it’s got no ASTM rating so I’d guess it’s a 2 at best.i reckon it will be fairly comfortable though!I’ve got the traverse imx(yellow) and for how thin it is I e had good sleeps on it BUT it doesn’t hold air all night long and can I hell find a leek on it which is weird,I e covered it in soapy water and dunked it in the bath and not one bubble has come from it 😂
