Have you shot with a Fuji xt4 with the simulations? It's my main at the moment and I really enjoy the new simulations I can put in. I edit all my raw in capture one but it keeps the simulation settings in it. And it's so much more recipes than my Fuji x-e2 but I love that camera to. I shot with it for 9 years. U have a wonderful collection. So many 😂 I'm hoping to add slowly cause now I'm seeing alot more differences with cameras in all sorts of ways. Love your channel

@OneMonthTwoCameras I also own the Nikon ZF...what made me pick it up over other cameras here recently is the 26mm F2.8 lens...That lens and that camera is the definition of chef's kiss 🙂 Everyone raves over the 40mm (and it is a great lens...but a little to perfect for me 🙂) but please try it with the 26mm...trust and believe...you will not put it down 🙂

Wow, didnt expect the G9, completely amazed me.🤯 I I've been telling everyone about this camera for years. My hands know it inside out. If you wake me up in the middle of the night, I can take a photo before I even open my eyes. The ergonomics are perfect, it has 4K 60p, super-fast autofocus, awesome video quality, responsive touch screen, much praised menu system, a great screen, an unbelievable electronic viewfinder, tactile buttons, it's durable, has incredible in-body image stabilization, and so much more... Plus, there's a perfect selection of lenses. If you're considering this camera - yes, go for it! And if you need something smaller, the GF9 (GX800) offers the same image quality in a 269g body (just half a pound).

A friend of mine used the G9 and absolutely loved it. I think it's a total sleeper hit of a camera, and the G9 II is even more impressive. Panasonic doesn't get nearly enough credit for the work they're doing in the mirrorless space.
@SMGJohn

Panasonic cameras have always been pretty darn good for what they do ever since GH2, the GH3 and GH4 specially, really did up their game tremendously even in the photo area. I think people have this mindset though that a small sensor = bad images, and its been perpetuated for eons on the internet by "influencers" that talk a lot about cameras, but really do very little using it, so people are herded into this mindset that bigger sensor means they automatically get good pictures. Thats why in the olden days they just said LAL. Lighting, Area and Lens. Thats all you need, nothing else matters, its just a tool in the end, if it can do some things better, IBIS for example is arguably a game changer in photography since Olympus E-3 and yes I know Minolta did it first but Olympus did it better. People seem to forget that the most sold interchangeable lens cameras on the planet, are all crop sensors, specifically APS-C. Even today, the biggest number movers are APS-C bodies, I kid you not.

Lumix designs some of the most sensible cameras you could ever use. The menus are simple and intuitive. Buttons are mostly in the right places. Now that they have moved to hybrid phase detect AF and put fantastic stabilization in their bodies, they have created a SUPERB user experience. The fact that the G9 II is based on the same body as the full frame S5 IIX is great for those who want both systems (Micro 4/3 and full frame) without having to learn two different bodies.

I have 2 G9's and just got a G9ii ( $1398 brand new with $500 trade in bonus rebate from BH). All are so well built, feature packed, and kept current with firmware updates. Each G9 paid $998. Total for all three less than the cost of many new FF cameras. Plus, there is no need for bigger expensive lenses. All my photo and video needs are covered. 😊

Really enjoyed that, great photos and collection, albeit a little surprise at the end! That said, the G9 really is a very solid camera - I loved it when I reviewed it, apart from its slightly sensitive shutter release, although maybe it just wants to shoot! Also one of the first cameras in its class to shoot 4k 60, something that's still not on everything. Panasonic has some great heritage cameras, I really wish they'd make a new GM. I saw one last week as part of a Lumix timeline, representing 2013!! It's over a decade old and is still so amazing!

Wonderful camera collection. My own includes the Panasonic GX-8 and Olympus E-M5 iii, that I almost only use for concert photography with lenses like the Olympus 45mm f1.8, 12mm f2 , Sigma 30mm f1.4 and Panasonic 40mm f1.7 and 50mm f1.7. I also have a Leica Digilux 3 - my only four/thirds camera - and I love it. My most recent addition is a Sony NEX-5N. I can't get over how small that camera is compared to the sensor size, and I love the lenses, I have for it (I'm even considering getting a C-mount to Sony E adapter and pick up a few ultra wide angle lenses as well). In fact I like it so much, I'm tempted to get an A5100 - because I found one for sale at a store I trust for half price compared to what they go for at MPB. Not to mention the rest of my collection of cameras - digital as well as a substantial film camera collection (+ a lot of film in the freezer).

Going back to your instagram and looking at your photos with the knowledge of the camera, and looking at the comments, it truly shows that: 1) obv, no bad cameras, and 2) we have no way of guessing what camera took what picture nowadays because there are so many and because they're all good! Many ppl are surprised here that it's the G9, including me tbh, because there are other cameras that first come to mind when you talk color especially, but it really shows that it's the photographer, not (less) the camera.

Regarding loosing the I-piece ..... This typical Nikon problem can be fixed easily: 1) unscrew this pease of glass, 2) put a small drip od some 'photo-glue' (some sort of glue which stays 'rubbery' for glueing photo's) on to the screw thread of the eyepiece; 3) put back the eyepiece back on the camera. This works fine as some sort of Locktite. The eyepiece will keep in place and if needed you can stille unscrew it. But to mention that you need to 'glue it again' there after. This has worked for me fine for decades.

What a fascinating roll through history……I started with my grandfather’s box brownie in the early 1960s think it was from the late 1920s or early 1930s. It was 120 roll film. My first serious’ camera was a Praktica L which needed an external light meter. I started developing and printing black and white 35mm at school photo club in the early 1970s and studied photography as an option at school. Looking at the modern Fuji XT5 reminds me of that simple to use system. Like you I’m a bit of a hoarder. The best cameras I’ve (still got) are the tiny Minox 35GT (superb lens), Fuji 6x9 - massive clockwork beast, the wonderful first generation Canon EOS1 and power winder (masterpiece of ergonomics and so easy to use), a full Bronica ETRS system (fantastic lenses each with their own shutter) and the super heavy Canon 5D mk3. So with lots of pro and prime Canon glass (all still working well) and their tiny EOSM kits, why have I considered getting the new X100VI? It reminded me of the old Praktica and the simplicity of the tiny Minox. I have one but not used it as yet, as I can return it for free if unused. Yes it’s very pretty and I’m sure takes great photos but all the extras needed makes it very expensive. I’m thinking that a new XT 5 with the super versatile 16-80 f4 is a better option for a forthcoming trip touring in China - an all in one small, high quality kit. Canon pro kit is too heavy, M5 a possibility with a few lenses but no 4K video and autofocus. I guess I could just use my iPhone 13 Pro……like I just did in Cyprus……with a small rig, lights and good external mic it does great video……

I have the X-T2. Coming from Canon DSLRs, it's a big step down in size, but I found that I LOVE it. It's a bit cramped, but a hot shoe thumb rest solved that. It's gorgeous and extremely solid feeling. Plus, the manual dials are everything if youre like me and looking for a camera to mimic the experience of shooting B&W on an old Canon F-1.

Normal? Normal is overrated. Surprised your favorite camera is the Panasonic G9. I would have bet on one of your vintage cameras as your favorite camera. Who knew? I bought the G9 new. An impulse purchase. It is chunky but made out of plastic so it is lightweight. This was Panasonic’s flagship stills body. Yet it has 5.5(?)stops of IBIS. The real surprise are the video features packed into this body. This is a great hybrid body. It can do just about anything you want except open a bottle of beer. Very nice selection of Panasonic, Olympus, and Sigma lenses. The 12-35 & 35-100mm f2.8 lenses are small, lightweight, and sharp. A joy to use. I love my Panasonic GX8,85,9 bodies. The GX8 was a flagship camera and in many ways is the GX version of the G9. Surprisingly, the GX85 & 9 aren’t a continuation of the GX8. So for example, they aren’t weather sealed. I’m POed these bodies lack an audio in. Shame on you Panasonic. Put on you list to review the GX9 please. Bought the 12-60mm kit lens with the GX9. Was going to sell it as I own the PL version of that lens. I’m surprised how much I like it. The 12-60mm lens lives on the G9. If you love the G9, and you do, please review the OLYMPUS EMD1Mii. It is a contemporary and competitor of the G9. Less video rich features than the G9 but still compelling. Super IBIS and vivid colors. Bought the 12-40mm pro lens. It is super and lives on the 1Mii. Built like a brick building. The G9 can be bought for ~$550 and the 1Mii for $450. Either one is a bargain for the features per dollar. My thought is if the camera produced good images five years ago (or more) it will continue to take good images. Or is that Newton’s 2nd law of thermodynamics? I’m confused. Glad I own the Panasonic G9. A super body. Because of this video the price will be going up. Speaking of elevated prices, I wanted a Fuji X100V. I wasn’t paying a premium for that hard to get body. I waited and preordered the X100VI at a lower price than a X100VI. This may be the last new body I buy. Still looking for a cheap Sony RX1R Mii. Good luck with that. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Always wonderful when there's a new video from you!! :) This was super fun, and cool to see what cameras you've kept and really enjoy. I think you mentioned you might do a video of the cameras you've sold and why, I think that would be fun to watch, maybe "To all the cameras I've loved before" á la Willie Nelson. ;-) And I always enjoy your reviews, so if you do one of your favorite camera (I don't want to spoil it in case someone hasn't seen it yet), that would be cool. No matter what your next videos are, though, I'm in, I just enjoy your photography and videos, and appreciate you for sharing your time and talent! :)

G9 is a good choice. I have four film camera that are now on a display shelf with some old brownies and one of the first digital cameras. I own two MFT cameras, a GX85 and a M1 MkII. The Panasonic 35-100 is a great lens in that format. I find myself using the GX85 quite a bit for street and casual shooting, with a 25 1.7. I own a few DSLRs, but my favorite camera so far is a Nikon Z7, for a multitude of reasons. Hopefully the Z7III is on the horizon. To me MFT can't compare with a high-resolution full frame, especially if you plan on doing any kind of enlarging or cropping. No contest there, unless you love grain.

Ok,so let's clear the air.. This channel just popped up in my feed and something said to click it randomly. WHY? The title was MY camera of all time, not some pretentious purist saying what IS the best. Then she said she is NOT 'normal' so knew could love her, because the best experiences I have had with women was with NOT normal women. My mother was a mathematician and both my parents were scholars so I was doomed to THINK not just have someone do it for me. We were in Chinatown last night, so the subject came up about fathers and the underworld. So my friend's love interest is Chinese, and both of our fathers were connected to the underworld. People ask me how do I navigate in Chinatown shooting with my Pentax K1 MK2 full frame or whatever I have with me at the time, and I tell them, it's about respecting culture/boundaries, intent, consent, and your personal character . Then when I saw that you have cameras stuffed in a drawer and that you had that computer, I was cracking up because I have this Toshiba M200 Protege and a Fujitsu around somewhere. I speak here about keeping the gems, keeping to strange, and not falling into the SCAM of 'needing;' new cameras, new computers, 8k, 3444 FPS, Superduper AF,656 MP, blah blah blah. Life is not in going that quickly in the analog world, and everyone does not NEED all these insane specs to shoot weddings, mountains, birds, and the same exact pictures shot 50 years ago. There was a time when some dude was running with some Nikon on a leather strap, and it's in rain, mud, he falls on it, it hits trees, and then he is taking pictures with one hand that stand the test of time today. He was getting shot at while taking pictures and not worried about 'rolling shutter', FPS, and all the other buzzwords. I have a Canonet. Chinon, French 110 cameras, and my Pentax made me slow down and compose. Imperfections make us work and appreciate life, just like with woman. If she looks too perfect and has no discernable past, I am probably not interested, because she has not worked to build value, it's just given to her. I believe in going outside here in NYC and working cameras, not them working me, and here, you might see all kinds of gear being used. This is where Vivian shot while being a nanny, and then becoming an icon through her work someone found. Here i can be myself and shoot in the grit, the heat, the rain, the cold, and I do not mind having a conversation on a bench with someone who lives outside.Soon I want to complete this color roll and drop that Ilford black and white film ,and just have a good time making something happen..

Love these choices. The youtube algorithm also popped up an older one of your videos and your thoughts about medium format systems echoed mine so editing those out lol. Had a bunch. TL;DR Great results from 6x6/7, but ultimately never felt compelled by the cameras themselves. For me the Pentax 67 was the closest to being a winner almost entirely off of the 105mm f2.4 takumar. Instead of my long ramble, I'll share my favorite; my grandfather's OM-2Sp camera. The very last OM-2 they made, much more electronic than the earlier ones. It went all around the world with him when he was in the Navy. I managed to track down one of the really rare series 2 screens for it, and significantly expanded his lens collection with a few of the all time best 35mm lenses ever made; the 50mm f2.0 and 90mm f2.0 auto-macros, the 50mm AND 55mm f1.2 lenses, and 28mm f2.0, probably my all time most used lens.

Thank you for a very interesting presentation! The G9 is The Machine. I use mine all the time, particularly when I can't afford to fail. My favourite though is the GX8, which I have two of. Even better ergonomics (for me), but obviously less advanced and with some quirks that not everybody is willing to live with. After my GM5 failed, I've considered the G100. It's bigger, but the better viewfinder and LCD probably make up for that. We'll see... Interesting what you say about the Fuji S5. The S3 was my first advanced digital camera, and I also have the S5. Image quality is spectacular when used correctly, but AF has failed on mine. Maybe I should look for another one?

Have you tried the Lumix S1? It’s like the big brother of the G9 with all same characteristics as the G9 (except weight and size) and the low light capabilities are ridiculous. I know you said you don’t like full frame that much, but I really think Panasonic complemented both systems quite nicely. It’s almost the same camera as the Leica SL2-S and has become extremely cheap, too.

Amazing collection! I am probably a stick-in-the-mud. I buy few cameras and keep them forever. I still have a Nikon FTn from 1973 and a Nikon F3HP from 1984. But my go to is Micro 4/3 - still a GH4, although I'm about to pull the trigger on a G9 Mark II. My twin kids have a GH4 and a GH5. Like you, I prefer the look of Micro 4/3 over full frame. I have the same zooms you do, plus a 42.5 Lumix. After nine years, the technology has evolved enough that the G9 II is a no-brainer. I need the 25.2 MP sensor for copying slides, negatives, prints, and artwork with my 30mm Lumix Macro, and I need the video features, because my twins and I make short films on occasion. Interestingly, you found the Fuji S5 to be inconsistent from copy to copy. I never had an older Fujifilm camera I liked. No two "identical" bodies were the same! The XT-1 and later mostly fixed that problem.

Have you tried using the Sigma's ability to write DNG's as a way to bypass Sigma Photo Pro? The files are f-ing huge (about twice the size of the Sigma raw files), but you can edit them directly in any editor and the files are beautiful in that way that Foveon files are beautiful. And do you use the 22x9 aspect ratio? I fell in love with it the moment I turned it on and have never used anything else.

As an SD Quattro H Shooter, I tried the DNG Option but the files are so massive in size and there is a degradation in Quality, and there's a magenta twinge too, you won't face in the X3F Raw Files. Try it but I avoid shooting DNG Files, i work with Sigma Photo Pro on the Files and export them as TIFF to Lightroom. But as you I would never sell my Sigma SD Quattro H. It's the most rewarding Camera I own. 🙂 Cheers have fun and always good light.

Thanks for the lovely video. I went a bit nuts with camaras over the last years as well but the G9 is also my favourite of them all. I 'upgraded' to the GH6 but it feels like a brick and has the charm of it too. Funny they added frame markers to the G9 and not to the GH5. I prefer a flip up screen now so mostly take my GX9 and S1 outside. Recently I made the jump (again) to Fujifilm. The X-T3 is also very charming and it made me go for an X-T5 a few weeks ago. For lenses, the last MFT I bought was a rather cheap 14-140 2nd hand. It is absolutely perfect for street photography, and combined with my Leica 8-18 it gives me a full range in 2 lenses. The 14-140 is more than sharp enough and it pushed away my Leica 12-60 because of the range, you should try it :-)

One of your videos on the M8 re ignited my love to my old Leicas. Looking for more videos, I came across a channel of a camera store and somehow I heard them mention how dangerous old batteries are. I wanted to ask you how do you feel about this situation, especially that I saw in one of your videos that you own multiple very old cameras (15 years old) like an M8? Do you worry about the danger those batteries can have? I looked to buy new batteries but I can only find third party ones.

Nice! However, the lack of Canon, Sony and Leica cameras is disturbing 😃 I agree on the JPEGs out of the S5 Pro! I had two and sold both when the prices went nuts and kinda regret it now ha. I need to check that Olympus out if you think it has a better lens than the LX3 and LX5. The Leica Summicron lenses on those are very fast and excellent quality. I currently have around 20 cameras, everything from point and shoots and bridge cameras to APS-C and FF DSLRs. Not sure I could pick a favorite but the two I use most are Panasonic FZ200 and the Canon Powershot G3, both of which really nail that filmic look. Fun video as always!

Fiddle Sticks on KZbin algorithm-I missed out on your channel until today. My history... In film era I bought an Olympus OM-1, in Sapporo Japan in 1979, loved the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 lens, a 28mm wide, and 75-150mm zoom-brain rewiring definite. My go-to camera since 2020 has been an E-M5.Mk3, seven lenses in the bag. Never had it so good. I particularly enjoy the PDAF, which locks dead on, every time. I continue to eye the 9mm Panasonic ultrawide as a possibility because I got caught just once, daughter's wedding, with a fence at my back. For casual or social shooting I sometimes take the E-PL6 out, with 17mm f1.8 lens, in favor over the one-inch offerings currently in vogue. Of other cameras in "the museum" (at one time sixteen, seven now) the one I miss the most is my father's camera, the range-finding Minolta A-2 from 1955. I was geeked at twelve years when he taught me how to use it. I have also had Fuji EXR, Panasonic, and Canon midrange cameras. The only model I ever bought TWO of was the Olympus XZ-1, for myself and for daughter in high-school photography class, a "teacher master your subject" enterprise. The boys were never interested. Had things been otherwise I might have opted in to an E-620, but I saw and impulse-bought an E-PL1 at BestBuy one day, for $399, thinking "No way this basic model could be a waste of money." It was fun, showed its limitations, but was well worth the practical exercise. After the Sony sensor appeared in the E-M5-total game changer-I never looked back. I think noise reduction AI software wrecks all the old boundaries, though I hardly use the Topaz Gigapixel solely for that purpose. Like you, I often feel like these old cameras are my other children, nearly impossible to part with.
