Loved OneNote for years, and 2016 is the granddaddy. For a regular user, its like a giant, fun scrapbook that holds almost everything imaginable. One of the greatest programs ever made imo. (if you add Gem for OneNote it's like having even more candy).

OneNote for Windows 10 may appear light compared to 2016, but the concept that Microsoft has pushed into it...intentionally making it simplistic to some degree, and then adding features to it, is a great plan in my opinion. Some users are not looking for all the bells and whistles. They simply want something that is precise, fast, and intuitive all around. This allows the UI to not be the main focus, but instead puts more emphasis on the work itself.

Fantastic video. I would LOVE a more in-depth look at OneNote and integrations with ALL the big office products, like Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and maybe Access (although I don’t use or know, the database program). How can we create this?

I find that crafting custom shapes for drawing purposes is also another nice feature for the Windows 10 version. The ribbon UI looks more appealing for first time users who want to draw. The lasso tool is the glue for the drawing experience in my opinion. And we can use the eraser tool to customize any of the default shapes, and line up that custom piece with other shapes to form things like custom curves. Finally, I'm impressed that I can easily use my $50.00 dollar tablet and pen to draw in OneNote. Very nice.

At 19:19, yes it is possible to build a custom Table of Contents in OneNote for Windows 10. It's not as automatic as explained in OneNote 2016, but doable. You can setup anchor links that smoothly scroll down the page to associated paragraphs, or you can link to other sections in the notebook. Definitely doable if needed.

Is there a particular reason why you cannot take advantantage of the concas? Everything is so small that it is very difficult to follow along.

So, I want to backup my OneNote Notebooks. Is it viable to backup the folders in the C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote folder, and treat those as something I could later copy and paste back in, in case of a disaster scenario? Thanks for the video!

Outlook tasks, page templates, page history, Tags-customized and searchable, and linking to other notes, pages or section within OneNote; all of those reasons is why I am sticking with OneNote2016 and NOT OneNote for Win10. I don't need (nor particularly want) my notebooks sync'd to OneDrive. Great advice on the addin too. Video was ok, need to make your screen bigger. Plus you should try out all the functions you will present to avoid the phone sharing SNAFU during this presentation.

I believe page history, custom tags + search, linking to other notes, are all things you can currently do in the 10 version; Not sure about templates or outlook tasks though. However you can still save emails into onenote 10 if you want.

Its end of 2020 and OneNote for windows 10 is still lagging to 2016 version in features.

Disappointing that New version doesn’t integrate as well with Outlook. Ie can only save outlook content or emails to Onenote by using print to Onenote. Not as convenient.
