This is one of the only times an album fully clicked with me on the first listen. Definitely in my top three albums this year.

Great review. Love this album, I totally agree that it feels kinda like Age Of but more cohesive. Elseware kicks things off in a super baroque style right off the bat. I think the Garden of Delete comparisons are relevant as well, and I couldn't be more thrilled about that since GoD is my favorite album of his. World Outside and Nightmare Paint really remind me of GoD. All in all this is a very retrospective record. My favorite track is probably Locrian Midwest, that one is so unbelievably psychedelic. I wonder what he's gonna do next...

I think "Again" deserves to be included under the favorite tracks, but other than that I pretty much agree with your rating! Love this album and I wish "World Outside" would've went on longer because that track is incredible and has to be my fav :(

Funnily enough, I actually got around to listening this album just yesterday, and I thought it was really great. In my opinion, this is definitely one of his most interesting albums so far. OPN always has such a very unique sound design, and this is an example of that. My favorite track on here is probably World Outside, but it’s very close because every track is at least good to me. Great album! I think I can comfortably call this one of my favorites from him to date!!!

Great review, I would love to see you review Evian Christ's debut album called "Revanchist" if you get the chance as well- I think you will enjoy the album.

I would LOVE to see that. Though knowing that Tommy isn't too big on Deconstructed Club, I don't think it's necessarily getting a video. Maybe SSIF segment at best

I really enjoyed this album, especially since I'm one of those people who weren't able to connect with MOPN (though I would still consider that album really good). Just like any other album of his, it took a lot of time for me to process what the hell was going on, let alone formulate some deep opinion on it. I feel like it's one of those albums where there's a huge chance that my opinion of it might shift in the future depending on whether the bigger familiarity with it would make it more emotionally resonant or conversely, dull it. Memories of Music pretty much blew me away on the first impact and honestly I can see it becoming top 10 material from him. World Outside, Plastic Antique, The Body Trail and Ubiquity Road come close. Overall, while it is definitely the album that does feel inside of his wheelhouse, I think the refinement of sounds he has previously explored and combining these elements with chamber and rock truly made it click with me. And man, what a fitting title. Current ranking: GoD > Replica > Returnal > RP7 > Russian Mind > Again > Rest

Probably going to end up being my AOTY, if not top 3. One of my favorite projects from him, ever.

Listened to this the other month, and I thought it was so interesting and unique, nothing like I’d ever heard before! Still gotta listen to it more for it to click though 👍

He made another good album, who'd've thunk it. Just gonna add this to the list of Daniel Lopatin bangers, it's just good to see that he's still somehow in his prime after like 13 years. I couldn't get enough of Ubiquity Road when I first heard this

Ubiquity Road is very beautiful to me, which is why it's my favorite. The title track is also nice cus it has those Rifts synths that i love from opn.

Been having this on loop for a while since ive been to one of the Agian² shows (got the cassette version). Never listened to anything since Age Of and his work for the Sadfie Bros. Might've been for the best since it was amazing hearing them at all for the first time. Having caught up with Lopatin's warp catalog, its pretty high up on my favorite works from him (though it may not surpass R+7 or G.o.D.) Favorite tracks are world outside, body trail, or barely lit path. Id include krumville, though i much prefer the live rendition. Same for plastic antique One thing that i don't recall was mentioned was the use of AI on certain portions of the album, most noticeably The (aforementioned) Body Trail and On An Axis. He didnt make this secret, detailing what tracks used it - Riffusion used for 20 seconds Locrian - Adobe Speech Enhance was used for Krumville and Body Trail, where they were used to react to the music - Jukebox was used for Axis's vaporwave music This doesn't kill the album for me, it does leave me feel a littlw conflicted ngl

Didn't know Lopatin produced the majority of a Weeknd record. Now I'm curious to check that one out. Also wish he would release another Games/Ford and Lopatin album at some point.

I'm unable to connect with the recent OPN material. I feel like something went off (for me) after Age Of. I can't pinpoint it. Maybe the fact that he started singing. Or that his production became more openly pop on some tracks. His sound design is as brilliant as ever. Many tracks, picked individually, are beautiful. But as cohesive albums, i cannot find the same evidence as in Replica, R Plus Seven and Garden of Delete.

if Nmesh doesn't drop that 2023 album he's been teasing, this is my AOTY, also just curious if you've heard Nmesh? Pharma is my favorite electronic album of 2017.

OPN kinda lost me when age of did nothing for me and he started doing a ton of producing for other artists and film soundtracks; this one worth a listen?

This guy has always been in an odd spot for me music-wise. Age Of really felt like something you’d only get to hear from this one artist, and I still can’t decide if he’s groundbreaking or more laid-back in approach (just my opinion)

Hey 256pi, weird question, but I remember one of your YTP videos containing the theme song from Get Carter. 1. Do you remember what video it was? 2. Have you seen the movie, and if so, what did you think of it?
@TheWonkyAngle Жыл бұрын
I've never used the theme song from Get Carter in one of my YTPs, I just had to look it up and don't recognize it. you might be mistaking it for my use of the Bullitt soundtrack or the Death Wish soundtrack which I used frequently especially throughout TRFC season 3
