Tia’s explanation of how the motorbike experience has changed her, and after the experience how she’s now as much a driving force for the motorbike trips as Cheveyo was inspiring. I went to AUS much because of you guys, and now next trip to SE Asia I need to do a motorbike trip. Looks like an amazing way to really dig into, and experience, a country’s landscape.

SE Asia on a motorbike trip sounds great. Just make sure that your travel insurance covers this - in Australia, travel insurance generally excludes cover for accidents arising from scooter/motorbikes and there have been numerous occasions of travellers being 10s to 100s of thousands of dollars out of pocket after an accident.

I travelled the world when I was your age, and 40 years on, those are some wonderful memories I revisit. No one regrets having spent time travelling! Enjoy, and Happy New Year (in another 14 hours!) from Shelburne, Ontario, Canada!

Another great video - your production quality is amazing. Love the pacing and the vibe, and the respect you show for the people and places you visit. Head and shoulders above any other traveller vlogs I've watched. I think part of it is down to your clear vision about the type of videos you want to make, and having the technical know how to translate that to film. But equally it's down to who you both are - nice, humble, decent people. You can't fake that. Take care.

Before that dam was built you could hire a boat and go from Luang Prabang all the way to Muang Khua, with a mandatory stop in Muang Ngoi Neua to chill in a bungalow over looking the river (which is the Nam Ou, btw). Nong Khiaw was just the town where you hired a boat back then, I don't remember any restaurants to speak of, and the only hotel was basically a barn with a cold splash bath and squat toilet down the hall. I'm really glad you're exploring Laos, but the changes since I first was there in 2002 are completely breathtaking. Luang Prabang will always be special to me, and if it has become special to you too then I recommend going back there in the off-season, maybe summer or fall. You are spot on, Tia. Nong Khiaw will change a lot in the upcoming years to absorb the number of travelers coming through there. Laos hid for a long long time. We can only hope that the Lao people can retain control of their own destiny, but it's sometimes hard to think that that will be so.

I took a motorbike when I was there across the countryside. The roads turn fast. Then those little one car bridges. The craters in the road and dust. Keep your head on a swivel. I went out to the butterflies botanic. Which is maybe 2 hours out of the city. Full on burn season. You get to see where it starts and goes into Thailand.

The evolution of your videos is amazing and you should be proud. The destination is the back drop now with the crux of the videos being the journey and the daily emotional effect of your surroundings. The connection to a place and those people is highly personal yet the viewer, now that we know you both, can have a meaningful experience of our own. The true magic of travel. Hope your 2025 brings you closer to your hopes, closer to your dreams and closer to each other.

Went to Lao in 2008 it was amazing quiet and so beautiful . In Vv there was a massive storm no power it was one of the scariest times when travelling. I didn’t think the windows would hold. I also went to the monks morning walk but was only because “hotel” owner told me, I didn’t see any other westerners. I thought the same thing about Lao developing but because it’s land locked it doesn’t seemed to have changed much in nearly 20 years.

The problem is there are so many disrespectful tourists. As someone fortunate to visit these places in the 1980s before they were discovered, I find it so sad to see how these places have changed. I realised quite soon that I was part of the problem and stopped visiting about 2000. But the damage was done. I completely understand why people want to continue to visit, but they need to be like you two - aware and respectful. There simply isn't enough of that.

Thank you for another interesting watch, the wife and I enjoyed it, sad your hands are sunburnt, that's an annoyance you could have avoided, unlike the staple diet your bikes tyre has, grateful you were only a stone's throw away from a mechanic, swings and roundabouts, you were meant to pause there possibly to avoid something further up the road that may have been worse had you arrived earlier, sometimes delays are not hurtful, annoying yes, however often delay's keep you safe, may your angel's travel as fast as your bike's, safe journey, love and light from down under in Perth, Western Australia, happy 2025 !!
