Don't apologise for drinking Brazilian soda in Australia - one of the joys of Australia is how multicultural it is. Being able to have an English breakfast, a Brazilian lunch and a Thai or Italian dinner is a very Australian thing!

Thanks for visiting! It's a great place, I've lived here for years, Brisbane is basically in the sweet spot in Australia for weather, laid-back lifestyle, enough amenities and cultural events, relatively affordable housing, while still having decent job opportunities. The main thing that I think that needs a lot of improvement is better public transport, especially rail (ideally some underground metro rail Ines), but there is a lot of advocacy pushing public and active transport, and at least some projects are in construction at the moment.

15:14 funny you should make a comparison to Vietnam; the Australian army’s Jungle Warfare centre was in Canungra, which is in the mountains behind the Gold Coast. That’s where our soldiers going to Vietnam were trained before they shipped out.

If you are going to Darwin, I have a tip for you. Every Thursday evening there is a sunset market at Mindil beach which is a must see. The food stalls are terrific. The tip is regarding the famous Darwin sunsets. Tourists having heard about the famous Darwin sunsets will watch the sun set into the sea and as soon as they see it set they turn around and leave as they have seen the sunset. NO! The actual show starts AFTER the sun has set. For the next 45 minutes to an hour you will see a beautiful sky with constantly changing colours that is even more spectacular if there have been recent bushfires as the smoke particles refract the sunlight. We lived in Darwin for 30 years and our Mindil market routine used to be to take a picnic table and camping chairs with a nice bottle of wine, buy food from the food trucks and enjoy the changing colours of the sky after sunset over dinner.

If you come to the Gold Coast. Best beaches, are Duranbah, Burleigh, Snapper Rocks, Nobbys beach, Currumbin. Carrara markets is on the Gold Coast and is Australia’s largest outdoor market cap. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday is Miami Marketta, you will love it. Really awesome bagel place called O Bagel in Broadbeach. Wildlife sanctuary in Currumbin you can feed the Rainbow Lorikeets (parrots), Burleigh lookout. Tallebudgera creek walk has platforms to walk all through the marsh/mud plains through the river.

Loving watching the trip guys. I saw a lot of people commenting on missing things along the NSW coast. Obviously if you only have a certain amount of time or money (or both) you can’t see everything. It seems like you are doing capital city’s and secondary touristy spots, which is good for people to see, and leaves you so much to see for your next trip. Just saying, you did miss one of the main “big things” with the Big Pineapple at Nambour

I hope you guys got out of the city centre and went to the inner-city suburbs (jut a bus ride away) to Paddington, West End, New Farm, Teneriffe, Newstead - this is where it's happening in Brisbane, really. It's where you'll find the independent shops, restaurants, bars, live music, antiques, etc. The city centre isn't the better part of Brisbane.

@@OnePackWanderersthat’s fair! 👍🏽I would def check it out next time u come back to Australia only cos for a long time it has been the place many Aussie’s choose to go on holidays.. especially in the 80s and 90s. It’s a bit more of a younger scene these days but still a nice city to check out! Have fun venturing up north anyways and hopefully u can spend some time in Cairns and the northern beaches and tropical towns like Palm cove, port Douglas, and for Australian nature at its best def visit the Daintree rainforest (oldest in the world) and cape tribulation. And if u can afford it a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef is magic. There are some cheaper options out there too like reef magic cruises departing from the Cairns Reef terminal. Anyway I Hope u two continue to have a blast and stay safe!! ❤

That square you were standing in, King George Square, outside the City Hall at (3:00), that square used to be a green space, with large shady trees and grassy areas, it was a bit like a cool green oasis in the middle of the city that people would use to chill out in, especially in the summer heat. A few years ago the City council ripped it all up and paved over it. The whole population was up in arms, there were actual protests, everyone wanted to know why, (I still do to this day). It was a horrible, unpopular decision, that needs to be reversed. (I suppose you've got a pretty good life though, if all you've got to protest over is some concrete, but still...)

Really enjoying your travels! Just a quick word re the harsher sun in Australia: The elliptical orbit of the Earth and our axial tilt combine to place the Southern Hemisphere closer to the sun during its summer months than the Northern Hemisphere. Coupled with our clearer atmospheric conditions, this means that Australians are exposed to up to 15% more UV than Europeans. There is of course a thinner ozone layer above Antarctica but it has less to do with that & more to do with our position in the Southern Hemisphere.✌🏼
@stephengentle2815
@stephengentle2815 Жыл бұрын
It's true - although people in the Northern Hemisphere are going to have to become more sun-smart, since pollution controls are starting to make some effect. International agreements to limit sulphur content in shipping fuel over the last few years being a big one - the sulphur dioxide pollution that sulphur created did shield some UV, and removing it has probably already brought the Northern Hemisphere a couple of percentage points closer (in the amount UV that gets to the ground) to us down South.

Yeah, I wish there was a eyeroll reaction available on here for the amount of times it is going to be said. Every other Travel Blogger does the Goldie and I don't want more of the same rubbish over and over.

If ya like the vast expanse of nature, next time u come back to Australia you have to see Tasmania, it's an often overlooked Gem , especially in summer.. Oh & when u cheers , say Cheers Big ears

That calm vibe of Brisbane is why I love it so much. Cities generally stress me out, but Brissy has always been an exception to that. If you ever do venture back, that 'brewery' you spotted under the Story Bridge has some of the City's best restaurants.

This has been an extra special vlog because you shared such personal feelings. I have something similar and I am always grateful that I was born in Australia where I can get away from people relatively easily.

McDonaldised beach resorts( Gold Coast, Noosa Heads ) don't appeal to everyone.

Noosa isn’t mcdonaldised as much as Goldie. It is actually a beautiful seaside town out of season and during the week. There’s so much here to see from the hinterland to the river mouth. And the wonderful national park headland with all the surf breaks.

I don't usually watch travel vlogs but you're such a lovely couple who see everything with positivity even when things may be different to what you're used to back in the states. Keep up the good work! ❤

I wish everyone found someone in their life that looks at them the way Tia looks at Cheveyo, it is beautiful to see the love and adoration so clearly ^_^

One of the things I’ve been most impressed with throughout this series, is your pronunciation and your willingness to get the pronunciation correct. And when you’ve been corrected you take that on board, admit your mistakes, and don’t make them again. Keep on enjoying the journey.
