The ColorOS shift did it for me. No more OnePlus no matter how good of a hardware they provide. OxygenOS was the differentiating factor for OnePlus and Oppo.

Only seems to be an issue when people have bought majorly into the wireless charging ecosystem. They don't want their tech to go to waste. I mean, 100w/80w charging on this phone, who cares about wireless charging at 20w or whatever?

I still use one of their 7 series phones, the 7T. The symmetrically placed circular camera bump made it stand out, and still does today. Didn't really like the ColorOS shift but I have got used to it. Overall, a phone from 2019 still works well in 2023 with minimal to no issues, kudos to the OP of that time.

I really like the notification swipe thing actually, seems like something from MI UI where I could swipe slowly to toggle on/off for a specific type of notification! It was very handy to not get some type of notifications from an app. Except I'm pretty sure that I could quickly swipe away in any direction to dismiss, unlike here.

I've had OnePlus phones for years now. I understand there has to be some balance or trade off to be a flagship killer when it comes to hardware or licensed functionality. What I dont get is why OnePlus apply that same approach to their *own* OS. It's always like "well now we've added these things, but at the same time we took away some other things that you really liked" ... Always only small things, but like Marcus says, they start to add up. It's now at a point where although it'll be a while before I upgrade, I already know I wont be going for a OnePlus for my next phone.

I was happy to see them coming back to their roots, but to be honest I don't think I can go from OxygenOS to ColorOS. RIP ONEPLUS Drawbacks: 1. E4 display, while IQOO has E6. Even last year IQOO 9t as E5 2. LTPO 3.0 while IQOO has LTPO 4. LTPO 4 is more battery efficient 3. No IP rating or wireless charging 4. Lowest battery than IQOO and among all Chinese brands due to bad hardware and specs 5. It is just another Chinese brand after departure of Carl Pei along with departure of Origin OS 6. SHitty Color oS. Oppo color oS is ever better than Oneplus. It is no more the same OS Oneplus was known for 7. UFS 3.1 at base storage. Even 25k segment gives 3.1. Makes it slow than competitors 8. Price is hell lot of high. Not worth it above 47-48k for the base variant. 9. Giving USB 2.0 slow speed makes it slow 10. It is same Chinese brand as IQOO, Vivo and Oppo but with lot of compromies and high price 11. You never know when they start pushing ads after 1-2 years as it has happened last to last year. 12. The base model with UFS 3.1 storage and E4 display is no more than 47-48k *********************** Say no to it and buy other 1. Motorola Edge 40 for performance and Clean UI 2. IQOO 11 for performance 3. Best may be, Vivo X90 for camera 4. Iphone 13 at 59k 5. If you want Chinese only, Edmi K60 pro will kill this at 40-45k price For clean UI, it is better to choose Pixel 7. Not only clean UI but far better camera in Pixel Better security and faster updates on Pixel Even Motorola has better security and much cleaner UI

I was really interested to see what you thought about the 2x telephoto camera. While every other phone uses a smaller sensor for the telephoto sensor, the specs appear to show that the telephoto is the same size at 1/1.56. This would be ideal for portrait photos of people. Is that the case? Obviously a 2x lens isn't great for long distance zoom but I was most excited for this phone having a secondary sensor that was the same size as the primary.

This review is "the feedback" OnePlus needs. Yes, micro refinements DOES matter for a great end User Experience. OnePlus back at it's peak was a combination of Great h/w and s/w. Now, as they've put more efforts improving the cameras, they're falling short on the great s/w side.. when this improves, they will be at greater peak than ever. Surely it will take sometime, but I believe, if by fixing the s/w and without cutting any corners (as Marques pointed out in the video) they can launch at $769, people would welcome.

My favourite phone ever was the OP1 with sandstone back. I have never had more satisfaction unboxing or holding a phone. Getting a phone case was a shame but it is what it is. I stuck with OP after that but every one of them felt shit until the 7t pro. Perfect in every way. Unfortunately, it was pickpocketted and I was hoping to get the OP9 as a replacement but it seemed like they'd reverted back to being a let down. Got an S21 ultra since then and it's phenomenal!

OP7Pro user here that is just starting to consider an upgrade. I have loved the phone, got the 12gb Ram version to be able to hold onto it for a long time and that has worked a treat. What hasn't though are the software updates. They are slow in that I just got Android 12 last month. I was stoked to finally get an OS update that felt like it was going to be mean something but no, Android 12 has instead killed many aspects of this phone to where I am looking to upgrade away from it where I wasn't previously. The OP11 is moderately interesting but those software annoyances and their update track record that I have experienced has thrown me well off the OnePlus track and am probably just going to get a Pixel 7/pro.

One Plus 7T user here. They pushed the android 12 update so late almost after the release of 13. Also to mention it had some kind of bug which removed the widevine L1 certification from my OP 7Tand now I can't stream anything on Netflix and Prime Video in HD. I was always mad about late and buggy software update but that one just made it sure that i never buy anything from this company again. Not to mention the December security patch was last update for 7 series which is worse for us 7T users here because we barely got 3 years of software support that too filled with bugs if we consider the Android 11 and Android 12 upgrades.

Man I really appreciate how you talk about the little details like the notification swiping and stuff. It's stuff like that that drives me crazy with some phones, but it's usually completely ignored in favor of spec readouts.
@champan250

The swiping is actually quite useful, left swipe gives you an option to go into settings to delay or block notification from this app
@alexl9
@alexl9 Жыл бұрын
@@champan250 You can do that on any other android with tap and hold. I suppose most people don't do it that often, compared with swipe to dismiss. It doesn't make sense to add that feature
@champan250
@champan250 Жыл бұрын
@@alexl9 we actually do that a lot over here in Asia... Many local apps that you use it one-off every now and then (like restaurant royalty and coupons) force you to turn on notifications for the app to run. Very helpful to turn it back off after you done with the app Asia is OnePlus biggest market, by far, and of course they should tailor to Asians

I still have the original OnePlusOne it was a spectacular phone for its time, and it is still working great, sans the battery of course. I think I jumped ship around OnePlus 4 or something like that, I hope they do a comeback. I would be interested in this phone, but I got a S23+ now, and not really thinking to step down from that camera. Although the fact charging seems intriguing.

Still using the OnePlus 7 which was kind of the same phone as 6T. I feel the best camera experience in that worth was 1+7. I've never had such worthy photo experience at that price band with any other phone. Unfortunately, I just updated it to their latest OS which promised better battery performance but they missed the disclaimer that your experience will go for a toss. Terrible gaps in very basic functionality experiences which often leaves me annoyed. I'm just not feeling confident to move to a new OnePlus mobile as it hasn't sounded worthy enough. Maybe the 1+11 sounds a bit of redemption because for me camera is an integral part of OnePlus proposition. I hope the software issues are addressed with basic UX improvements. The wireless charging isn't really a deal breaker for me esp with fast charging and 5k mAh battery

Nothing Phone is the new OnePlus. OnePlus lost their way when they were invaded by Oppo and tried to merge OxygenOS into ColorOS, and apparently that's a failure here. I bought the 1+6T because i didn't want to learn all the strange google gestures and the phone let me use the old gestures which I still love.

Still rocking the OnePlus 7 pro for over 3yrs now(yes the popup camera still works!). Funny that this doesn't have most of those annoying notification "features". Love this phone, but the battery is obviously starting to be too old. Might go with the op11 next. Its the same price as I bought this one. Amazing considering inflation during the last years

Bro I still rock my oneplus 6t and it feels like its not 4 years old. I see no difference from the 1st day I had it. Maybe even better cuz the software got even better over time. I am a fan of oneplus and my next phone will be oneplus. The thing is I dont think this 6t is giving up any time soon cuz its like new at 4 years old with more than 1 day battery life and everything.

As a OnePlus 9 Pro user with the latest OxygenOS 13 on it, I absolutely relate to all the small software details Marques mentioned at 7:00. I still have my OP 7t and after 3 years it still can do everything. There are some problems though: battery isn't the greatest and sometimes the screen's refresh rate drops down to like 30-40 Hz and the phones needs to be restarted to go back to them beautiful 90 Hz. The software also has some problems every now and then (and yeah I also hate the notifications). But still, it does everything almost as quick as it was 3 years ago.

Definitely agree - I believe the one plus 7 Pro was their pinnacle. Faithful OP user having had both the 2 and 5 before. Been using the 7 Pro solidly for going on more than 3 years now. Besides diminished battery life which is to be expected after this time, the one issue that I have never been able to fix is that though HD videos look great natively when shared on any any platform (notably whatsapp in my case) whatever codec OP uses makes it look like your videos are shot on an old Motorola Razr. If I could find a fix for this I would honestly invest in getting a new battery for my 7Pro and keep it going for a few years - otherwise its very likely in next couple months I'm going back to Apple land. Definitely other software quirks but this is the main deal breaker
