Had they included NFC the setup process would have been *Unbox Phone, Install SIM Card, Turn ON Phone, Tap NFC to transfer all apps from existing phone, DONE.*

I believe Lollipop allows you to select the device whose backup you would like to restore to your new device at initial setup. No NFC needed.

NFC initiates a WiFi Direct live transfer of current data. ***** NFC is used to initiate a secure WiFi Direct connection between the two phones. This does not require an Internet connection. If you want to use a QR code, this will have to bounce via the Internet to initiate and far more complicated to setup.

Andi Taylor ***** I believe NFC only initializes transfer of basic data, using bluetooth (or wifi direct but I think it's bluetooth) during phone setup such Google account details and list of apps to be installed. Rest everything else is downloaded from Google servers along with the apps. So the suggestion of QR code might actually work. Eventually even with NFC your phone needs to have internet connection for the setup to complete.

Using it right now, only worth it if you get it rooted and with a custom recovery, so you can update it to Oreo and Pie is out today but probably beta. Also custom kernels and removing Google bloatware helps it with battery life and speed.

when testing the OP2, please try to look into testing its battery life on lower brightness settings for a day, just enough to see the screen in whatever condition you are using it. I know you like to crank up the brightness, but it would be nice to get an endurance test on more conservative settings.
