This phone was made with the purpose of focusing on performance, and it achieves that perfectly. From what I've heard, read and seen, it has great connectivity to wifi and network and great performance for its apps I can easily afford other phones such as Pixel and iphone 7 or their updates when they come out later this year, so this isn't really about the price for me. I hate the bloatware on Samsung, as well as the idiotic placement of the finger sensor just to increase the screen size. Nevermind the needless Bigsby button. Phones are basically not focusing on performance and just looking to have the next big thing That's why I like the OnePlus 5. Great performance, awesome memory and RAM, great connectivity, comfortable to use and customize, two SIM cards which no other flagship has even though it's becoming more important each passing day (And honestly, when I saw that it had 2 SIM slots, I was completely sold), great battery life, fast charging time, premium quality build and compatibility with many different networks. You give me all of that, and for less money (and unlocked) than other flagships? That's perfect, because the phone is focusing on what I want from a phone while leaving all the other noise behind. The only thing that I would have wanted would have been water resistance, simply because it adds to the durability of the phone and that matters a lot to me as well. Does this mean I think OnePlus are angels? Of course not, there have been some unnecessary sacrifices that could have been included without bloating up the price too much. I'm not looking for OnePlus to disturb the market, or to fantasize about them providing the same as the top tier in the market but only at 30% of the cost, which is obviously unrealistic. I'm looking for them to satisfy a different market need, and they do that quite well with this phone.

thank you so much for describing how different it is from an iPhone and other phones tbh. since the release of this phone I've grown sick of the people who comment on false facts and just bandwagon everyone else, primarily the other KZbin tech reviewers which have really shown some lack of observations or they too just followed the community bandwagon.

focussed beams a lot of things..... the world has moved onto usb 3.0 have you ever tried moving files from usb 2.0 vs 3.0? especially with the faster internal storage which can actually now benefit from usb 3.0 (which is also incredibly cheap to implement), there is no excuse. especially from a company claiming they got even the tiny bits like Bluetooth 5.0 in place

wrong. Type C is only a port you can have USB 2.0 with it. You can also get a transfer method that is not even USB on a type C port (thunderbolt)

Actually, OnePlus is not the first company to put 8GB of RAM into a Phone, and the price-performance-feature ratio is not really that competitive anymore. Not when you can get something better for about the same price like the LG G6.

Good review as always. Good phone no doubt but I agree with your sentiment - the price continues to grow and it's probably worth it to spend a little more and get a flagship from one of the big brands - you get a 2k screen, better camera, water resistance, SD card slot, and better update support. OP offers great software performance which exceeds some flagships (bar perhaps Pixel, Sony and HTC), however.

This isn't an iPhone clone rather OPPO - OnePlus is basically OPPO or sub company.
@user-ch5ij5yd2g7 жыл бұрын
Mr2pint oneplus was talking about how much effort and innovation they put on the design and everyone is claiming it's an iphone clone. Well both (especially oneplus) are full of shit and it's literally just a rebadged oppo r11 with more ram, and even uses the same camera sensor.
@user-ch5ij5yd2g7 жыл бұрын
focussed beams if oneplus is meant for the western market (esp enthusiast), then how come oneplus emphasized so much about the increased thinness and even sacrificed battery capacity to do so? The 835 efficiency argument is null since decreasing battery capacity to offset increased efficiency= zero gain..... The only market that gives a shit about thinness is the chinese market, the western market prioritizes battery life over anything else, ESPECIALLY the enthusiast... oneplus got their heads up their asses in the marketing department

The 5 isn't yet being sold in Australian websites so I'm unsure of the price but hopefully won't be more than the G6. Which do you think would be best and thank you

I really liked the design and size of the Oneplus X, but it didn't sold well (No wonder when it doesn't offer LTE Bands for the US.) and was pretty fast dropped by Oneplus and gets no updates anymore. Also i had to repair it after a few months (USB Connector). That all turned me off for that Brand. It's still kind of fine (some software bugs aside), so i don't need anything new now, but i don't think my next Phone would be another Oneplus one. (Nice unintended Pun there, hehe.)

I could've gotten the SGS8 for just a tad more, but chose the OP5 over it because I have had a very bad experience with my SGS6 which started slowing down and jittering all over the place, apps just crashing in the background left and right... The OP1 I have still runs smoothly (I gave it to my parents)! And other stuff like the display on the S8 looks good but is actually kinda impractical... Then there is Oxygen OS which is just amazing! IP rating... eh. Don't care. Camera, well, I'll miss OIS but I guess I'll survive :D
@dhruvbhatnagar41807 жыл бұрын
despite the price increase, One Plus 5 is still pretty competitively priced in India. Here the 8GB variant with 128 GB storage is for ₹38000 whereas the Galaxy S8 is for ₹65000 ! That is considerably more expensive. The cheaper 6GB variant is for ₹33000 which is just as expensive as the 3T was when it launched. So I don't really get what all the fuss is about !

It maybe be a 'good' value but you get what you pay for this with company and that means no updates, not even security updates which are very important these days. I mean most big OEMs have committed to at least to that unlike +1. There last model won't even be getting 'O'. That is pathetic.
