Hey guys! I went with a much more narrative approach with this video since I felt really strongly about the concept. If you're looking for some spec-heavy technical breakdown we've got a great article over here! : www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-6-review-864739/ Let me know if you have any questions!

I can't consider this the new Nexus. Reasons: 1. Too pricey. 2. Didn't get the Android P DP1. Also, really hate the notch and the rounded corners. Why no standard screen which can show entire content... They could at least do it at the bottom.
@iustinianconstantinescu54986 жыл бұрын

@mikethomas66336 жыл бұрын
michael johansson Agree! Never saw the need for "wireless" charging. The wireless charger has a wire to plug into the electrical outlet does it not? Might as well just plug in your phone. Also doesn't need water resistance. I've never gone swimming or taken a shower with my phone. I'd rather see phones keep the headphone jack, which it has, and a larger battery.

Canadian pricing: Galaxy S9+ = $1180, OP6 = $699 (base). So the OP6 is 40% cheaper than the S9+. However, $699 is still rather expensive and the midrange is so good these days that I think a lot of people will look elsewhere. And certainly if there's a T model coming, that gap will shrink further.
@JoseOrtiz-oq1lx6 жыл бұрын
smashbro5 you can't use the galaxy S9+ model and use the base model for OP6, you have to use the S9 and the base model for the OP6. If you're going to do a comparison then do it right
@smashbro56 жыл бұрын
Jose Ortiz I wanted to point out the maximum price difference. But if you're that upset, it's 32% cheaper than an S9. Happy?

@AlessandroCarpentiero6 жыл бұрын
C2tha J2tha yes I'm really glad about my choice :) the only downside is the speaker, which is just mediocre (powerful but mono and a bit cracky when loud) whilst the N6P ones were MUCH better. As for the rest there's no looking back; it's incredibly fast (like sooooo fast), very stable and I've ended up liking the notch :) Battery life is also very good 😊
@c2thaj2tha716 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Carpentiero Yeah the notch is one of those things that I notice, I'd prefer not to have, but it doesn't bother me THAT much. The OnePlus 6 notch is small and doesn't get in your way 😌 I bet its lightning fast and envy that SOT. Sounds sooo amazing!! 😭 Meanwhile I'm stuck with a phone that's got poor RAM management, very bad battery life, and very bad build quality. 💀 Speed wise...it's still respondsive (thank you stock Android) but it's not 'fast', the camera still takes impressive photos, but I'm having some speaker issues sadly. Every 6 seconds or so the volume will decrease 🔉 then return to normal. This happens when using Bluetooth too 😣

If this were a Nexus it would be cheaper and notchless. The Nexus also wasn't about "copying hardware trends to stay relevant". It was meant to be Google's vision for Android, mostly on the software level, but with hardware as well. The Nexus designs were all fairly original except for the Nexus 6, but it was novel enough just for its size.

When the OnePlus One came out the Nexus line had done its job. The whole purpose of the Nexus project was to show OEMs that you could make nice Android phones, with good specs and that didn't cost too much. Well, the price point aspect was only with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. But those two Nexus phones were probably the most influential.

There will never be a new Nexus again. Near stock Android is not enough. Specially when updates are not guaranteed like Nexus devices. That's what made them so special.
@OscarRobbing6 жыл бұрын
And especially when 'near stock' means stock + a bunch of useless and pointless changes (and a couple alright ones) + slow software updates (4 months for my OP3 and longer for the OP5/T is not 'fast', and only seems alright because others take EVEN longer).
@25maxman6 жыл бұрын
Preach.

Updates are slower than stock agreed. But Oxygen OS betters stock android IMO. It puts in several small practical things that stock really misses. I've used all nexuses and OP phones thru my life.

I was kind of trying to allude to the fact that specs are converging - it's the experience that matters. The Pixels haven't had the absolute best specs of any phone when they've launched but still offered one of the smoothest experiences. So I tried to make that part quick :)

Haha lol, did I hear you say the 5x was hailed as one of the best designed Android phones of all time?!?!?! That phone was a crappy cheap hunk of ugly plastic with a horrible battery and crappy camera, and it sold for $400! Now I can agree with the latter part of that statement and say the 6P was one of the best designed Android phones. Besides it cheap construction for an all metal phone, I consider it to be one of my favorite designed phones ever. I really wish Huawei would release an updated version with smaller modern bezels but keep everything else identical.

What is your opinion concerning the slipperiness of the midnight black VS mirror black? Some sources are contradicting... @DavidImel6 жыл бұрын
MrSwekkerBoy Mirror black has this weird film application on it that makes it feel almost oily. The midnight black is more of a traditional metal but it's smooth instead of that grippy feeling. I would say the midnight black is a little more slippery.

Problem with OnePlus is there is no other cheaper entry point in their product line up. They discontinue last year model asap new model is launched. I was one of the first to buy OnePlus 1 here in India because it was affordable and gave more control over my mobile experience. Now with every iteration of OnePlus my desire to get one is veining out.
