You can get the S9+ fro $640 from Samsung's website right now or even lower $591 with an edu email. Why wouldn't someone pay an extra $40 for a better camera, screen, water resistance, headphone jack, dual speakers, wireless charging, microSD expansion and color options? I personally don't care for the curved screen. I don't take many pictures. I don't make it a practice to swim with my phone. I have Bluetooth headphones, and the buds they sell are fine. MicroSD is great...if you you take allot of pictures, and even then there's the cloud. Color options?... I want a phone, not a kids toy. Plus I like 8gb vs 6gb of ram. A larger screen is nice too. And for 128gb of initial storage, the Samsung is $689 plus tax, so you're looking at closer to $750. I paid $640 with buds. And a bigger battery gets me through two days. Samsungs only last one. But to each their own. For what I want, the OP6t kills it.

No wireless charging, no ip rating, no storage expansion, no headphone jack, and a 1080p screen. A good analogy here. Say for example, the S9 plus is a 2.5 liter Audi. The Oneplus 6T is a Suzuki Swift with 2.5 liter engine. It's still a Suzuki Swift. The Oneplus 6T is not a competitively priced phone. It has virtually no flagship features. Close call? Meh. I've got the OnePlus 6T and the Note 9 on me right now, and the 6T was free. I think the Note 9 gives me a pretty good idea of what the S9+ is, especially since I got mine for $825. The Note 9 has this over the 6T: - IP rating (OnePlus claims the 6T is water resistant, but the point of an independent rating is trust, and I don't trust it) - Screen resolution (I keep my Note 9 at 1080p but because of the higher resolution the rounded corners look better) - Camera (sure the Gcam port might look better than Samsung's auto mode, but it can't beat the manual mode) - Expandable storage - Headphone jack (the OnePlus dongle actually sounds pretty good, but it feels flimsy and only works on the OnePlus) - Dex (I haven't tried this out yet, but I know that it's a pretty robust feature, and you can run limited Desktop Linux on it) - Wireless charging (I feel this is something the 6T needs, since sometimes you want to charge your phone while listening to music. It has a glass back so it's not like they couldn't have added the coil) - Headphones and micro-C adapter in the box - USB PD and QC compatibility (sure Dash Charge is great and all, but the brick is huge and if you forget it or the cable, your only option is slow charging) - AOD (OnePlus has no excuse for this one. Some people might not like it, but Samsung has an ingenious workaround for that, called a toggle) - Design (subjective, but the 6T feels a lot like the Bluboo S8+, a super cheap Chinese phone) - Software (again, subjective and less clear-cut) - Polish (as in nail polish, not Poland) There are just too many things I dislike about the OnePlus 6T, and like I said, I got it for free, so it's not like I'm resenting it for what I paid. Aside from that list, I have a few other problems with the 6T. For one, the vibration motor is terrible. While Samsung's starts and stops immediately, the 6T's has to spin up to speed and then slow down to a stop. That makes vibration times much longer, and I don't think the motor is physically capable of producing a vibration that lasts less than 30ms. It's really annoying when typing, which I'm doing right now on it. Another is the rounded corners. I thought the S9 had too big a corner radius, but the 6T takes that title handily. The bottom corners are the most annoying, and they cut off a lot of content, especially if you use the gesture system. The same problem might happen on the top, but I enabled the notch hider, which brings me to another problem with the corners. The corner overlays for the hider (placed under the status bar) don't have the same radius as the physical corners. They're much smaller and so there's a lot of asymmetry. When I noticed this I also noticed how jagged the rounded corners are at the bottom. There's some sort of overlay that actually rounds the corners in software, and it doesn't match the physical curve of the screen corners, while also looking like an 8-bit 90s computer game. Then there's the software in general, which can be fixed, but doesn't seem to be much of a priority. OOS has some nice customizations, like the dark theme or the option to hide status bar icons natively. I actually really appreciate these, but I don't think they offset some of the annoying bugs and quirks I've found. For one, the rounded corners from the notch hider don't show on the lockscreen. The status bar is still black, but the corners are gone. Normal apps aren't allowed to overlay the lockscreen, but OnePlus has full system access, so this makes no sense. Another weird thing is how the entire ambient display goes fill brightness when scanning your fingerprint. I get that full brightness is needed for an optical reader, but the clock and notifications have no reason to get bright. It's really annoying when you want to use your phone in a dark room. OnePlus is asking for higher and higher prices for their phones. This might make sense if the generations felt like progressions. But if the praise for the 3 and 3T mean anything, the 6T is probably a regression in many aspects. This is all to say that I really don't think the OnePlus 6T is worth the price, even if the S9+ costs $260 more at TMO. If you consider the add a line, trade in a device, get a free phone deal TMO is doing, where your options include both the 6T and the S9+ (although you'll still have $110 to pay for the S9+), I think the $140 difference is well worth it. If you buy unlocked because you want root, then you're looking at $530 base 6T vs $700 S9+. That's a $170 difference. If you go for the S9, it's more like $20.

L. Derecichei - I'm still using a regular S7, myself... I'm a power user with small "Hobbit Hands", and the device's compact size makes many tasks easier than the monsters they put out now... Easier to place in your pocket, too... I'm going to have a difficult time when this one finally dies, and I have to go with a newer model... I might just buy another S7 to fall back on, or even an S7 Edge... They're not that much bigger, and replacement parts or units for either variant can be had for super cheap now!

Students sitting in the back of class or needing to take pictures of textbook for studying, charts, formulas, example problems, so on and so on. They also need a great camera for study purposes. I don't care so much for the front but the main camera needs to be on point for this reason. Camera importance isn't always for shallow reasons. If you compare the pricing right now (since the S9 has been out for 8 months) the S9 makes a pretty good value even compared to the 6T. Stereo speakers, better camera, HDR display capable of QHD+, wireless charging, and IP rating easily makes up for the price difference. Granted, if someone doesn't care about those features, then the 6T makes more sense. Owning a S8, it's been a very good experience long-term.
