@ That's sound a bit harsh. It's not all useless. You can evaluate and compare a lot a qualities. He put in the work, it's a good vid. Just this one shot is a bit weird to pass editing. Only close-up crop comparisons are missing for me to make it in-depth. 12MP and 50MP is like 1080p vs 4k. If some people want big crisp pictures, maybe it could be a selling point for them. The other way around, if they're not crisp at 50MP, then they're useless for that.

You re not paying only for the camera. Oneplus 9 for example is offering a better display, better cpu, better gpu, faster ROM, some insane wired charging speed and slow wirless charge. 65 W charger in the box and cheap case to start with. But I agree that pixel 4a has an insane camera for its price.

Surprisingly close. The OnePlus shows a touch more color saturation, esp with green. On at least one photo the OnePlus white balance seemed shifted more toward warm/yellow, but i dont know if that was just the actual appearance of the photo subject. They went back and forth for me, but both were very good. If i remember correctly the Pixel audio was louder and clearer. All and all both were good and I'd use either one

Looks like the pixel 4a loses on nightmode video recording, though oneplus 9 wasn't great at that either. Everything else, I think I prefer pixel 4a. Oneplus 9 colors are more oversaturated and vibrant, but sometimes appear more washed out. Pixel 4a has more natural look. Impressive as a budget phone it can compete and often surpass the more expensive device.

I think Pixel knows to correct the exposure and balance the colors in such a way that it's not too saturated.

Pixel with its terribly outdated camera hardware still managed to make the OnePlus look not worth of its price. Wow 8:42 so the Nightscape made the photo look brighter at the cost of sharpness. Like it just put a bright bljrry filter on it. Ughh

Great video, thanks for your time and trouble. In a nutshell then the story remains the same after n years. No matter what the competition does; a Google Pixel phone, with a 12MP lens and gcam is the equal of an.other Android phone no matter how many pixels they throw at it. After years of putting up with mediocre OnePlus experiences even with an almost weekly ported and updated gcam, I can attest that a Pixel phone, just takes better photographs, more of the time.

Great video. I am a fan! @Phandroid I really need your expert advice. I have always loved phones and tech, however I used to stick on mine so I like to make the right choice! My 2 last phones are in my opinion perhaps the 2 best incarnations of the concept of Flagship killer: the Nexus 5 and the Oneplus 5. I love my OP5 but it's tired now. So I'm looking for a new one that can last a few years but I want it to really shine on the photo side too. For nearly 2 years I have always been waiting for the new model but there is always something that prevents me from going there. And there, I still hesitate because of the lack of OIS. Such a shame. So I hesitate: 1- to wait (again) for the 9T (or even the 10) hoping for hardware and software developments in the collaboration with Hasselblad. I am a fan of Oxygen OS. 2- Wait for the Pixel 6 hoping for a better soc and a real speaker (I hate how it sounds during calls) 3- the Oppo find X3 neo seems to be a real deal even if I prefer flat panels and its format seems more elongated as 74cm seems to be standard for 160cm (surely better in hand and maybe not annoying). My OP5 is 154 for 74 so the Oppo seems to be very long and narrow :) 4- Something else. Vivo on its next model .. I don't know! What do you think? Thank you very much :)

Pixel always kills any other phone when it comes to selfies/portraits in my opinion, since Asian brands like One Plus and Samsung seem to prefer rather washed out selfies with no realistic detail whatsoever, as we see in your comparison. This is the main reason why I am planning to switch to a Pixel device when Google's Pixel 6 comes out. Also, I generally prefer the slightly warmer color profile of the Pixel. Late edit: iPhone makes good selfies as well, I think. So imho it's those Western smartphone companies (Google and Apple) that nail the way 'we' (speaking from a European perspective) want to see ourselves the best.

If I purchase a pixel 4a 5g to use in the caribbean which has not 5g connectivity and may not have for some time will the phone work well on 4g since that's what is available in the caribbean? I am afraid of purchasing a 5g phone since I am not sure if it will work normally.

I have Pixel 4a, and its good camera for sure at capturing details, I just don't like how the images seem to have this slight "drab" or "dull" look to them. It's like there's a very light grayish tint overlaid on the photos, like its a cloudy day. Just not as colorful, bright, or lively as other cameras.

Maybe I'm biased because I have the 1+9, but it seems to have come out ahead slightly. Better image stabilization and crisper shots on many of the examples. It really went back and forth though depending on lighting and mode. The 1+9 seems to have done a little better in low light conditions. For the money the 4a is really good though.

With these midrange devices they should use 1, just one camera and focus on that to make it great. You dont need 3 cameras on a budget phone. Did not they realised this already? I own a oneplus 5t and i m afraid of upgrading because of this stupud things oneplus is keep doing for last years. Just keep it simple do not overcomplicate it. Iphone and pixel did a great job with using just 1 camera. I prefer having one good camera than 3 useless or almost useless cameras.

What is clear is that Google needs to upgrade their cameras on the Pixel 6. It is apparent that if the OP9 has caught up and arguably surpassed the Pixel main camera then the lead and one of the main selling points of Pixel phones now no longer exists. So wish list for Pixel 6 is a periscope camera, better ultra-wide, improved video and a new bigger sensor on the main camera. As for the OP9, it looks like a solid camera bearing in mind this comparison, at least for the market it will be selling to. Obviously, if you are an amateur photographer then the Mi11 Ultra, the P50P or the next Pixel and iPhones will be better alternatives. Sadly the DXO Mark ratings for both the s21U makes that sub-par for their hardware.
