instead of improving video quality, they focused on distortion which no phone has distortion. and they gave money to hasselblad which overprices its cameras. hasselblad overcharged for them probably little improvement. iphone still the top in night video quality. but in daytime video samsung is better. huawei still the top in daytime photos. hasselblad cameras are overpriced and they dont do video alot, oneplus wasted their money. probably for logo.

Bravo - The oneplus 9 ( minus pro) arrived last week and no comparison on the camera to the Pro - but I'm more than satisfied. The over sharpness of the camera was immediately noticeable but I like it. If you make a living taking photos that's probably a big problem. If your just snapping memories this is a great camera /phone - I almost forgot it - it's a phone!

Except that the Samsung almost always has a rebate going at least in the states. It means that effectively the phones are about the same price. For example the S21 ultra 128gb is literally 999 right now vs 969 for the oneplus 8 pro, or I believe 1199 and 1069 on the 256gb model(for some reason the unlocked deal on the 256 gb one ended it was 1099 before). On top of that Samsung also gives you 250 dollars in credit for accessories as well right now. That makes the samsung effectively cheaper than the oneplus for either version when you consider the accessories your going to buy, especially since you have to buy specialized and overpriced bricks and car chargers for the oneplus as it won't warp charge with a normal power brick. Pretty much the Samsung is a much much better deal right now for either model.

So I still have a Pixel 3XL. I loved my One Plus 6, but the camera on Pixel and it's software are amazing. I'm sorta at the point where I'm split between a One Plus 9 Pro, the next foldable phone, or just skipping out another year. Phones just aren't that exciting anymore and the return on investment seems to decrease with each iteration.
